Gallas is a different player to Cole. Sure they are both defenders but Cole is a far superior forward player then Billy is. Cole will benefit Chelsea more than Gallas will benefit Arsenal, in my humble opinion :p
Arsenal needed Gallas ALOT more than Chelsea needed Cole. Considering Cygan has just gone and Senderos is injured, Arsenal had basically nobody to play in the centre, he was essential to them. Chelsea could have easily managed with Wayne Bridge on the left.

Well I think as a few games go by, the chelsea hordes will realise that this is a good situation for us. Gallas has been messing us about, just as Cole has at Arsenal. Neither clubs want a player who wants out, so although I wouldn't be as fickle as you gooners and slag our player off, ( I prefer to remember Billy for the positives and not the negatives), I am happy to see him go, just as he is glad to be gone.

Why should Bridge feel betrayed? Bridge's place in the team is secure, there's no worries there. Cole can be used in another position on the left or play left back if anything happens to Wayne. We needed cover for that slot and now we have it.

Jose has not even had time to say a word about it. He's glad the deal is done and Gallas is gone. Billy wouldn't even talk to anyone at the club in the last 2 weeks, not even the players. He was beginning to piss every one off. Shame he couldn't have sorted himself out but he's an idiot who's ego is out of control. Hope he enjoys the pay cut at Arsenal while he winds down towards retirement. :p

Wayne on the left and absolutely nobody else who can play in that position? A club like Chelsea with only one left back? I don't think so.

Rob, we all know what Cole can do mate. Nobdy can doubt his quality surely. I can't join in with the Cole bashing man, I'll leave that to the gooners. As I said before, Cole defecting to Chelsea from Arsenal just makes the whole thing feel sweeter as far as I'm concerned. I don't buy into all that whinging bulls.h.i.t, thats for the Arsenal fans who are just pissed off 'cos he wants to come to us. Gallas had his chance to stay with a massive pay rise and a place as centre back. He decided to fu<k off instead. Maybe he is the one who should be getting some stick from the Chelsea fans instead of giving it to someone who actually wants to play for us. Just a thought.... ;)

Cashley :(

He joins Ballacks club of having to win me over

Don't act like a spoiled kid only couse uncle Romn has the bling bling. Ballack need win no one over, he is proven in the international stage. Reached allfinals that count just got unlucky on winning any. That's why he joined (and the money lol) I am sure he will be the man to make you win the CL.

Take my words and remeber them.

A few weeks ago, this wouldve been the biggest kick in the balls yet, even after Duff and Guddy.

Now, after seeing Billy's petulance (and seeing now that a move to win other trophies wasnt really on his mind, just an exit from Chelsea) I was more or less resigned to seeing this move happen. Im glad we only gave them five. To me, Gallas and Cole are a wash, but the fact is we're replacing one trouble maker with, probably, another.

A few weeks ago, this might have meant the end of Wayne Bridge's Chelsea career, yet another thing that wouldve pissed me off. But now that he has shown his attacking ability and his rehabbed class, and now that we are without a sub at leftback, its clear that he is going to be playing, probably alternating with Cashley as a leftsided mid.

I dont even want to like this new guy. He is immediately Cashley to me, and will have a long way to go of self sacrifice and team first behavior to prove otherwise. But we just got a facking great player

I respect your honesty Pete but most of your fellow fans on the csr forums are not happy one bit about losing Gallas , and of course Bridge who has been playing well will feel betrayed and Jose was not pleased either according to reports.

Anyway good luck with your new guy. :amika:
thats cause we're a different breed on the CSR. We love the lads through thick or thin (except Carvalho :fool: ) but many opinions on Gallas soured, including mine, when he couldnt even join his teammates in the US

In any event, you should make it clear to the CSR that you are a gooner. We already have a couple, a liverpudian, and a couple of bundesliga people. Its a pretty welcoming enviroment when you come to talk football and not spout nonsense

So Chelsea gave away two defenders who can play both on the wings and in the center of defense and got an LB who's not even better than their current one (at least in my opinion he isnt)...

What happens if Terry or Carvalho get injured for a month or two?

Gallas actually went on strike and refused to play for us again. He was upsetting the equilibrium and team unity at Chelsea hence Drogba telling him to "put up or shut up". He has gone to a club, for less money, where he will still be asked to play as a full back for now, in all probability. All the issues that pissed him off at Chelsea. The guy's mind has gone due I believe, in his over inflated opinion of himself. I think he has shot himself in the foot on this one and he will realise in a very short time what a huge mistake he has made.

Arsenal fans, halfway through the season I want to know what you think of him then. Wait till you see him play in your line up, then tell me he is a World Class defender. Its too early to judge right now so just wait a while. On the other hand, we already know what Ashley Cole can and WILL give us. Honestly fellas, in 3 months time you will realise what a crap deal this was for your club. Gallas wants lotsa money. You aint gonna give him the amount he wants. So how long do you think he is gonna stay? You think he's gonna stay quiet over the money issue?

On the other hand we will pay Cole what he wants, and he will achieve professionally more at Chelsea than he ever can at Arsenal. Arsenal's "golden" period has come and gone. Maybe it will return one day but not in the near future, that is clear.

Cole came to us for more money and for a more successful career. The exact same reason why we ALL look for another job. Anyone who critisizes Cole for that is a complete hypocrite. Just remember this issue when you change jobs for a bigger salary and better prospects. If its good enough for you, why aint it good enough for everyone else? :amika:

Well to be honest Pede, the average person that changes their job for a better salary don't get paid millions every year. Though I can see where you're coming from.

Yeah ok, but its the principle thats the same man. The fact that in relation to Cole, we ARE talking millions, to me that makes his decision to come to us even more understandable. Lets face it, if all he was gonna get was an extra £20 per week at Chelsea, would he even bother to move?

Do you think Henry would have stayed at Arsenal if they hadn't of made him the highest paid footballer in their entire history? No way mate. Whatever bulls.h.i.t he wants to give to the gooners, ( who suck it up by the way), the money was THE deciding factor in his decision to stay where he is. If Cole is a money whore then so is Henry. The laughable thing is that the gooners refuse to even see it like that, even when it is staring them in the face. That is hypocrisy.

Everone works for money and job satisfaction. If you dont get what you want with one employer then you look around for another. Thats what we all do aint it?
