People really should stop calling the guy a "diver" after that goal. (I'm talking about Drogba). He was at a bad angle and a lot of players would've gone down easy after that, seeing as to how Ooijer was right on him.

Drog was like that from the moment he came on. He tried to stay on his feet even when he was being constantly "sumo" wrestled by the Blackburn players.

I cant believe Sparky accusing JT of diving. Anyone watching the replay of the incident are left in no doubt that Oijer bear hugged him across the area and onto the floor. Sparky makes himself look a right twat sometimes.

I have to say, Drogba's goal yesterday was a masterclass in English football. To say he's suited to our game would be an understatement. Ooijer; baptism of fire, welcome to England :D

Oh and i have to say, i also agree with you about the penalty Pete. Doesnt matter how much Terry "collapsed", you're entitled to if a guy is gonna rap his arms around you. Thats what i always say about penalties, if the defender is gonna make a mistake by clipping/holding you even in the slightest, you're entitled to say; "hey, you messed up, and now im gonna go down SLIGHTLY easier, to punish you", and thats exactly what JT was, and it was 100% a penalty.

Terry on Ricardo, Euro 2004, did you have the same opinion back then?

Even if you did I know most here didn't and that's rather amusing double standards.

god Virgo, you really have to start hating me. I've stood by my reasoning for penalties since i was about 15. It always goes back to the same instance, if the defender has been silly enough to catch you, as in, to go in for a challenge they werent gonna win, then the striker (or whoever) is, in my humble opinion, fully justified in punishing him by falling to the ground.

Doesnt matter if its against Liverpool or England, i'll still say that, since im not a 14yr old chav who changes his mind on whoever is playing.

As far as Portugal are concerned....." He who lives by the sword....dies by the sword " or, " what comes around goes around ". You get the idea though? If you can play a team at their own game and come out on top then they are in no position to whinge IMO.

It always comes back to "poor old Portugal" with you Virgo. Is it some sort of persecution complex or something?

Incidently, I think Rovers should have had a penalty too yesterday when Carvalho pulled on the players shirt in the area (again). That was not given by the ref so it seems that even they have double standards. Or is it simply a matter of opinion or judgement?

It was a penalty, And as Pete says Blackburn should have had one too. I must say pete you boys arent firing on all cylinders at all...But to be able to win ugly is the mark of a great team.

Hiya Jimbob :bouncy:

Yeah it will come together soon enough mate. Until then any win will do for me. We miss Joe Cole on the left big time. He and Bridge make a fine pairing that makes a big difference. Jose is also playing Kalou (who dont look that impressive as yet), but to be fair he probably needs time to settle. Khalid and Ballack both had League debut's against Rovers too so the performance was bound to be somewhat disjointed. It'll all fall into place, I have no doubts whatsoever about that. Cech played a great first game of the season too. I love Cudicini but he made a few costly schoolboy errors in our first 2 games that he would never had made 2 or 3 years ago. Cech is the number 1 now for sure.

When everyone is fit and we can put our first team out, then we can see exactly where we are I think. Until then, we'll blood the new boys and scrap for every point.

Whoops I missed this post earlier.....soz Tom...... :crazyboy:

I agree with that but I think Oijer did enough for the ref to see a stonewall penalty call. Man, he dragged him across the area for about 20 seconds until they both fell in a heap. As you said, you cant defend like that without paying the price.

I agree too that it does not matter which team offends or which team is offended against, if it a penalty decision then it has to be accepted whether you like itas a fan/manager/player, or not. Saying that, if Chelsea did something like that in the area, I would still be happy to get away with it though, as any fan would. That does not mean to say that I would dispute the injustice done, only that I'd be happy if the ref missed it.

I do like fair play but after all, if a ref makes a mistake in my teams favour, I am hardly going to cry over that.

Tom

That Nice Guy
oh totally, you wont find me complaining if Liverpool get that, but on the other hand, if someone asked me about it, i'd tell the truth.

As you said earlier, Blackburn probably deserved a penalty too. What i detest is Mark Hughes comments, as if he could ever say that chelsea didnt deserve a penalty, what a stupid comment.

I'm just pointing out your obvious double standards.

Not whining, no reason to, the ref called the foul which was clear and England went home.

pede54

Team Captain
Sure mate, and a foul it was. I wouldn't say it wasn't a foul if it was. Although ,as in the case you mentioned, i would have still prefered the ref to have let it go of course. Some incidents can be borderline, and thats where opinions come in, and where there are differing opinions, thats where the arguments seem to start.

I do agree that some people will dispute a fair decision if it is detrimental to their team, but that happens in every country all over the world, its not exclusive to just one nation is it?

Tom

That Nice Guy
exactly, everyone is biased towards their own country, but most of us have the inteligence to answer honestly when asked about it.

Well they could come in useful Nick...... :amika:

Anyway every man and his dog has been linked with these two. We will know where they are going by tommorow or thursday for sure.

I'm just hoping the MSI owners fallout with Mr Abrahmovic and the Heinze-Mascherano relationship will aid a possibly bid from us.
