LOL, what!? The only thing he and Robben have in common are an allergic reaction to passing. Sturridge isn't anywhere close to that league.
Have to agree. By the age of 19 we all knew Robben was destined to be world class, Sturridge is 22 and still the best we can say is that he MIGHT turn out to be a great player.

Reports are surfacing about a move for Oscar, Internacional's 20-year-old AMC, for 25m. A lot of money for a position I wouldn't say needs reinforcing, but he's a young talent, and could be an excelling signing for the next 10 years, one which could, like Modric, adapt to a deeper role. Initial reports that he was signed were false, but his agent has said that he will sign for Chelsea. We'll see. One to watch out for in the Olympics, anyway.

I have only just started hearing his name very recently - is he really that good? I am always excited to see new young wonderkids arriving, but again I do wonder if that's the best way to spend 25m........

Yeah, might take 6 months or a year for them to figure it out in the Premiership. But that's a LOT of talent. Mata and Hazard are going to be pissed about playing on the wings though (H)

Yep, we've been hearing a lot of talk, not only with Chelsea but several other top clubs, about getting this guy and that guy, and I guess at the end things won't be nearly half as much as the talk. Of course this happens every year, but this summer it seems everyone wants everyone! Whether it's the next Brazilian big thing with Ganso or Oscar or Damião, or if it's that great guy from the 2nd-line of top clubs like Dortmund or Tottenham, the likes of Modric or Gotze or Hummels or van Persie now, and it seems every rumour reports of 30 million, 40 million € fees. At the end either someone unblocks this **** (ie Mourinho buys Modric for a crazy sum), or it'll pretty much be stalemate for everybody.

Both Hazard and Mata have played regularly on the wings in the last few seasons, I doubt that'd be an issue. I'm also still tentatively optimistic that Oscar could adapt to a deeper role. Still, assuming they all develop and adapt to their roles, we could have:

Lukaku/Sturridge
Hazard/De Bruyne - Oscar - Mata
McEachran - Romeu

Why do you like De Bruyne so much? You mention him constantly, yet he's done less than nothing at any level that I've heard of.

I've seen him play a few times and I think he has a lot of potential. He can play across the third band and he can shoot, pass, cross and dribble. I think he'll get loaned to some Bundesliga club this season, actually.

I'm bored, so, players we've been linked to:

Maicon
Debuchy
Selassie
Azpilicueta
Pizczeck
Sapunaru
Lulic
Fellaini
Witsel
Moutinho
Schweinsteiger
Modric
Oscar
Jovetic
Moses
Walcott
Lucas Moura
Hulk
Schurrle
Van Persie
Falcao
Ibrahimovic

Which are basically seperated into RB, MC, AM, ST and youth. If I had to guess, I think the club plan is to get an RB, maybe Maicon as a squad player plug until a better option pops up, or Todd Kane steps up, get the creative MC we've been needing, and refresh the wings by bringing someone in and selling Malouda. I think it's far more likely that we get 2 wingers who can potentially play as ST like Schurrle, Hulk or Moses than an ST.

So my bet for this transfer market is Maicon, Oscar, Moses and MAYBE Modric or Moutinho although likely neither. I just don't feel like the club will push that hard for them.

My favourite alternative would be: Azpilicueta (although Maicon for much cheaper sounds very good), Oscar, Moses, Schurrle, Fellaini, Modric with Meireles/Essien and Malouda shipped off.

Meh.
