So... Torres. This season he's been poor, good, disappointing and on occasion slightly better than good, too. Against Barca, he was poor, but he scored a very meaningful goal. Since his problems are largely psychological, I'm hoping, and this is the 3-4th time I say this, that this helps him turn the corner and score a few more before the season ends and end on a high. If he fires us into the CL, I'll be very happy.

Also, Drogba and Kalou. Right now I'd like them both to sign new deals. Kalou isn't that good, and Drogba is old, but they're both useful (Kalou more so because he fits the system now more than before). Not sure they'll sign, and if they don't, they need to be replaced.

If we win the CL, I think we could make a splash in the transfer market and set up for a good campaign next year.

And, Di Matteo? He's not been very consistent, getting good results when you least expect him to, and then failing to grind out results when needed. I'd argue that he deserves to stay on for his CL run, but then again, Grant didn't. If we win, I can't see him not staying, although our Prem position hasn't improved and that's the priority.

Also, doesn't look like either Hiddink, Mou or Klopp are available, so there's not much point in replacing him with someone who isn't stellar.

Interesting stat I just read, in his all-destroying time at Barcelona, Chelsea are the only club Pep hasn't beat (vs Hiddink it ended 1-1 on aggregate, this year we won 3-2). That's pretty cool.

Can anyone verify this? Is there another team that Pep's Barca have failed to beat?

Not sure I agree, Ramires has been very very good but I also remember some key misses. I think I will probably vote for Mata, because he was the only player that was still good during the slump. Also I think Ashley Cole has had a very good season overall.

I would love to go to that dinner! 160 isnt too much, but doubt I could persuade anyone to come with me!

I dunno, Cole's early going was woeful. Admittedly, it was largely because Mata was infront of him and left the flank entirely to him and rarely tracked his designated players, but still. Mata was a revelation, but he winded down and the scheduele definitely took its toll.

Yeah, he did get overplayed a bit, but I thought he was still very good in pretty much every match, except the two Barca games of course. I think he has been more consistent and played with more pride through the slump than Ramires did. Not wishing to take anything away from Ramires, of course.

I dunno, I thought Mata rode the fact that his start was so good at some points. But yes, Mata would be my 2nd choice.

Actually, these would be my top picks:

1. Ramires
2. Mata
3. Cech (brilliant performances to save us and regain form, and I think his lack of form, like Cole, was from getting exposed by his teammates)
4. Terry (had so many fantastic matches, it's such a shame he won't get play against Bayern)
5. Drogba (not a brilliant season, but I'd put him here for his Barca matches alone, he was also great against Spurs, Valencia and more)
6. Luiz (he's a liability sometimes, but he's really improved. He's sturdy and offers creativity and spark from the back, still got to learn, but I really hope Barca don't come in for him)
7. Sturridge (shame that RDM's system doesn't suit him, but AVB's did and he was very good early on, didn't turn out to be quite the revelation, although I think that had AVB stayed, Sturridge's season would've been better and he would've improved more, still, good breakthrough season)
8. Lampard (**** the haters, Lamps has adapted perfectly to a double pivot role, and could extend his playing career this way, his passing range and ability has been in display now, and his performances against Barca were brilliant)
9. Romeu (like Sturridge, had AVB stayed, he'd be better off, he started well, but a combination of injuries and change of system haven't helped his development, still he did good)
10. Ivanovic/Cole, Cole was poor for a good while, Ivanovic wasn't as poor, but he also wasn't as good as Cole when he regained his form, although he did score and assists some very important goals. Both ended the season decently.

The CL run shouldn't distract from what has ultimately been a pretty disappointing season. I won't care if we win of course, but still, we need to improve next season.

I'd also go with Mata, I think he's very consistent domestically, stats speak for themselves, and although he was poor against Barca, he was decent in most of our CL games prior to that.

Ramires a close second definitely. But like Sir_Didier_Drogba, there were times where I felt he missed great opportunities to decide a match. He seems to thrive in the big games though and that's key.

Petr 3rd choice, he's saved us so many times this season, also turns up a notch in the bigger games.

Went with Ramires and his gol against Barca, had some doubts in the goal vote, but none at all in the player of the year. Ramires has been our best player this season bar none. He's been consistent, he offers something no one else can, he's been key in some of our most important matches (twice vs. Barca, Napoli, etc), and he's just so ******* cute.

Shame he's suspended for the final (H)

Yup, I think I'd go with this order to.

Looking at Mandieta6's list, its a reminder of how bad our season has actually been. After his top three, I can think of more things each player has done wrong this season than done right.

Marko Marin's a Blue.

Lukaku (loan) + 8 million sealed the deal for Chelsea. Astute stuff from Chelsea, 'cause if it was Liverpool, we would have probably signed him for around 30 million.

EDIT: Screw it, wikipedia's probably just messing around. Just had him listed as a Chelsea player, then Swansea (!) and now Bremen again.

No, it's official, he's coming. Sounds like a good deal, from my recollection he's a speedy winger and it sounds like as cheap deal. I seem to recall someone here saying that he actually sucks, but I suppose we'll see. We needed a proper right winger for a while though, but I hope this doesn't mean that we're not after Hazard anymore.

Shifty, input?

Seconded. Marin signing for Chelsea pretty much seals the fact that they've relinquished on signing Hazard, who I reckon will join either of the Mancs.

uh, yeah, it was Shifty who said he sucks:

Skip's team looks very good, but Walcott and Marin are just awful awful players, and how many goals does Gomez score from distribution through the middle. A few, yes, but it's mostly Robben/Ribery/Muller creating his goals from out wide. Marin (extremely selfish, not even in the Germany squads anymore) and Walcott (kind of like a poor man's Chicarito relegated to the wing) just aren't going to create. This will probably frustrate Gomez, and then you'll see some really really disinterested play.
Marin seems more like an Arsenal-type signing than a Chelsea one, to me ...

Hazard because at the moment I don't think Marin would be anything other than a Mata backup, even if they're not the same type of player, and I would like a world-class creative winger on the right. We need more rotation options in attacking midfield.

Rumour is that Lukaku will go to Bremen on-loan next season, are they in the CL? Hope that works out. Also, apparently several clubs, like Atletico, Lille and Sporting want De Bruyne on-loan next season. Hazard for cash plus De Bruyne on loan would be fantastic.
