You can't blame that on Robinho. Zidane, Ronaldo, Beckham, Roberto Carlos, Raul, Guti, RvN, Cannavarro and others...were all there as well.

Breaking News.

SWP has been sold back to Man City for an undisclosed fee today. Thats a shame as he was one of my favourite players at the club. I don't think Shaun had much say in this decision though. He has always stated that he never wanted to leave Chelsea. Two days ago he emphasised that committment.
I think that with Robinho coming, the club has decided to offload him.

One day I might perhaps get used to the idea, that one's emotions do not have a place in this bussiness called football. One day perhaps. Not today though. Today I'm a little gutted over SWP, an immense player when used properly, which he never was, and the insistance from Chelsea that he is no longer required. Ah well.

Good luck to him. A great guy, a great player and our loss IMO.

The Chelsea megastore is already selling shirts with Robbinho's name printed on the back. Go take a look and make of that what you will. http://www.chelseamegastore.com/stores/chelsea/products/product_search.aspx?search=robinho

Nice piece about Chelsea FC's work in the community.

Did you know that Chelsea are top seeds in today's draw for the Champions League? Thats right. Five years ago we were UNSEEDED. Today we are the number one seeded team in the competition. Thats a pretty meteoric achievement wouldn't you say? Roman always wanted us to be No.1 in Europe, and in this respect we already are. Thanks Roman (Y)

Whats all this talk about getting Fabiano before the window closes? Drog must be having a very squeaky bum time at this moment I would think :)

Damn shame about SWP, I really thought he could break through. Right now I'd rather have him over Robinho, but, I guess we'll see if Big Phil can do his magic.

Zakov

Senior Squad
yeah SWP was always a great pro with us, never moaned, never complained, fought for his place very hard, from what I've heard he was initially reluctant to go back to City, I don't like the idea of us getting 'rid' of him, its not what the lad deserves.

He's had his moments with us, got a Premiership medal, FA Cup and League Cup medals as well, and once actually broke into our first eleven during Jose's last few months as our manager.

Thanks for the Spurs FA Cup goal, SWP!! Good luck!!

I think he meant more of Man U # 1 type than that.

Good luck in the CL though.

Hehehee, yeah I know Diesler but I couldn't resist dangling a worm on a hook like that, just to see if the mancs are biting today. :)

Still nice to see the UEFA players awards this year (apart from one), all come to Chelsea players,

GK of the year.......................Petr Cech
Defender of the year..............John Terry
Midfield player of the year......Frank Lampard.

Well done lads. Not just for getting the awards, but for upsetting so many other fans by doing so. It's all the sweeter that way. (Y)

Madrid are playing hardball over Robinho once again. It's on.....It's off.....It's back on again.....what a load of bollocks. Someone should tell Caulderon that he has been acting like a complete amateur with no class at all during this off season. No wonder he gets on so well with Kenyon. 2 of a kind.

Spurs at the Bridge this week end. Should be some game.

Aye, and apparently, we're the two clubs still after Arshavin, wondering what'll happening on both these fronts.

I edited the first post to make it a little nicer, if you wanted me to add anything, like fixture list, honors or history, please send it to me.

Hypothetical question, if everyone was fit, and everyone was on form, who would you pick in the squad?

Mine would be:

Cech
Bosingwa - Carvalho - Terry - Bridge
Essien
Ballack
Cole - Lamps - Malouda
Drogba

Maybe switch Malouda for Kalou and Bosingwa for someone else, I'm yet to see him play for us. Just personal taste, I'm sure many will choose Cole over Bridge, and put Deco in, but, bleh.

Yeah its a dilemma Az, but one that many managers in the league would love to have.

I would agree with having Bridge over Cole. There isn't a lot to choose between them, but I prefer Bridge's attitude to be honest. Cole loses his cool too easily whereas Bridge does not.

Terry and Ricci are in of course, and so is Bosingwa I guess, as he is the best that we have to play in that position. Like Belletti and Paulo though, he plays so well going forward, but his defensive work is a little questionable. To be fair though, he will work out just fine once he beds in.

The midfield, does it matter? All great players and it's gotta be hard to leave anyone out I would think. So any combination would be fine by me.

Drogba or Niko up front? Well if they were both fit and in form then either one would do for me, although I think we all know what Drog can do, and that would probably sway opinion on that one. An in form and fit Annelka would be interesting to see though. I don't think we've seen him in form since he arrived at Chelsea. Hopefully this season huh?

We need to mullah the Spurs later today. Not just beat them but mullah them. I believe that we will.

Madrid blasted us for our conduct over Robinho, now WTF, the player has said, twice, that he wants to come to Chelsea, Real said that they were not going to force him to stay, they allowed us to talk to him, then they do a 180, and they blast us for things that were done BEFORE they change their opinion (although advertising a Robinho shirt was a dumb move). Madrid fans don't want Robinho, Madrid didn't want him, we want him, they're just lashing out at us because they're pissed at not being able to sign anyone.

And a shame about losing 2 points today, hope we'll do better next time. Yet again, Spain refuses to show premiership matches, does anyone know of a good site I could use to watch the match live?

Can't you watch it on rojadirecta?

For anyone who has seen today's game: how did Modrić and Giovani play?

On what? I have digital+ and the regular channels, and they don't put it on any of the sport channels nor la 2.

Drog completed 60 minutes in a reserve game against Arsenal reserves tonight (which we won 3-2 by the way), and will be back in action for the first team quicker than previously expected.

Sparky the crafty git has signed Robinho. Best of luck to Sparky, he deserves all the backing he can get.

Not really that bothered that we didn't sign Robinho though. It would have been nice (possibly), but it aint gonna happen in this window. We were not dependant on his arrival at Chelsea by any means, but I think Scolari will be pissed that Kenyon blew yet another deal.

I think we can lay the blame for this at the door of Kenyon. He has a wonderful knack of pissing off everyone that he talks to. His arrogance and smarmyness holds us back in my opinion. If I was Real Madrid, I would have dealt with anyone rather than deal with Kenyon. I think Madrid attitude stinks as well though. Not just over this Robinho saga, but in everything they say and do lately. Thet do take arrogance to another level don't they. Then again I guess all of the big clubs tend to behave like that these days.

You would too if youe team would have won 9 CL all together herr Pete. :p

I actually felt the Merengues handled the Robinho saga quite well. They let him whine and than sold him to a mid table team for more money.

They basically told that little scumbag that no one is above the team, let alone when that team is called Real Madrid.

I would like to think so Mikey, I really would mate. He is an embarrassment to the club, and does nothing towards helping us increase our popularity as a club. Sack the Manc wanker now I say. :)

No mate. You would expect a club with the history and universal standing of Madrid, to have a little more class. Success does not entitle you to be arrogant. I would think the general attitude regarding Real Madrid from onlookers worldwide would have dramatically changed over the last few months. The would have lost an awful lot of respect globally by acting the way they have.

I used to take all the critisisms of Real from other Spanish fans as sour grapes. Now I am thinking that they were telling the truth all along.

I didn't say you would expect them to be arrogant mate, i just said that those 9 tittles give them all the rights in the world to be such. To be totally honest sometimes i feel the arrogance is in the eye of the beholder. I mean most teams see them as arrogants because of their abilitty to get by things in a certain way.

Do i feel it is the right thing to do? No but that doesn't make it the wrong thing to do. As far as it is compliant with all the rules i could care less.
