hehe, its been sheer comedy these last days of the transfer window!! First some Arabian group takes over City and makes bid for almost every star in Europe. Wow, the Robinho to City thing is just a sensational coup for Sparky, I have a feeling they'll do well this year, I've always had a soft spot for City because they always manage to help us against Utd.

Well, I'm not too bothered about Robinho personally. I'm sure Joey's happy tho that Robinho ain't coming, but he needs to step it up because he was poor against Spurs.
We've got Ballack, Mikel, Drogba to come back from injury, I think we've already got a decent enough squad to compete for all honours. And for once we're not the big spenders in the transfer market this season.

cheers

yes, €30+million is nothing...

lol, I didn't mean in that way, since people usually always see us as the big spenders, in a sense that we're spending the most money, its clearly not the case this season. Heck, we spent less than Sunderland.

But I really think we should've offload Malouda, he looked really poor when he came on in all three matches so far. Got the ball robbed from his feet countless times against Spuds and contributed absolutely nothing, I had hopes for him this season but he's not doing much too convince us he's worthy even for a place on the subs bench.

Good thing I supported Chelsea against all the 'buy the title' allegations a couple of years back.

Thats right you did old mate, and it's remembered. Thats why we are wishing City all the luck in the World that everything works out OK. (Y)

After all the envious crap that we have had to put up with over the last few years, I would not wish that upon any club. Most of us Chelsea fans see City as a kindered spirit. Having struggled under the financial clout and arrogance of United for so long, the future is not so dismal all of a sudden.

Its been like that for a long time Fili, but only for the "chosen few" clubs. Now other clubs want a piece of the action. I don't see anything wrong with that mate.

All the "big boys" have had their rich backers for decades, so whats wrong with another club having a rich backer. Nobody has critisized UnReal Madrid all these years for having an unfair financial advantage thanks to the Spanish Royal family, and Burlusconi has financed Milan for years with his mafia money, so why is that OK but suddenly it's a disgrace when another club joins in the farce that football is and has been for many many years.

The stranglehold these clubs have had on football needed to be broken, and broken it has been.

Fu<k history. Who gives a toss what has been won in the past and by whom. Only the rich clubs who have dominated everyone else for too long care about that sh!t. Now their cosy existance has been upset, and that is a good thing in my opinion.

The days of rich football clubs forming a cartel to keep other clubs down is over, and the past achievements of these clubs is irrelevant to the new boys on the block. The big boys don't scare anyone any more. Real Madrid for example, is just another club to these newbies. Nobody fears them anymore either on the field or off it, and I am loving that.

What matters is now and the future. The past is gone and means absolutely nothing to the rest of us, because all of us are now aware of how these so called European heavyweights built their history. With lots and lots of money.

It's all a hollow sham and it all means nothing anymore.

Can't say I totally agree, there... Record books exist for a reason.

What I agree though, is that everyone gets a chance to put their name in them (Y)

Thats cool Fili, but as I said, thats the way I feel about other clubs so called "history". To me it doen't mean sh!t and it never has.

Look at us at Chelsea. Five years after getting tons of cash we win the league back to back, win a handfull of other cups and make it to the CL final. THAT is how easy it is when you have the funds to get you there.

If you can afford the top players and the top coaches, a club is 90% of the way there already. Thats why the "history" of those clubs is a hollow meaningless sham.

Every League and European cup win was paid for. Yes, they bought their history, because if Chelsea bought their success as many would have us believe, then what is the difference between that and what Real Madrid or Man United have bought over the years.

History is for sad <unts who fear for the future. Thats why the guilty clubs fans harp on about it endlessly, because it harps back to the days when they were richer than anyone else. Not any more they aint.

Too bad Sheffield F.C isn't successful, they have history, don't they? and Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Spurs, etc.

I couldn't agree more with that History is for whiners thing, and you would understand what I'm talking about if you were a Porto supporter :D

All I said is that it cannot be ignored, in the same way it cannot be an excuse.

Well don't tell me when you're bouncing your Grandchildren on your knee that you won't be telling them all about and be damn proud of the era of 2003-9. History is a huge part of a club, it is ingrained in a club's identity. Historically Chelsea haven't had many highs - this is your golden period.

I made my points about City because I'm honestly shocked by the money flying around - I don't think it's good for the game. I saw my local club destroyed because of it.

In any case the shock has worn off now, I'm saving my energy to get behind the United boys because we're still one hell of a team - above all else they are MY team, and will forever be.

Our squad can challenge anyone.

I think what he meant that supporters should not dwell on their history just to prove a point in regards to their clubs.
Don't get me wrong, history is nice to look back to, I enjoy watching highlights and remembering the days of when Hoddle was in charge to the moment Casiraghi and Laudrup came to our club, our FA Cup triumphs. Its nice just to look back at.

But it annoys me when fans of other clubs who obviously haven't got a clue what our club has achieved prior to Roman's arrival, take the piss out on us with these "You ain't got no history" remarks(the most I get is from Liverpool fans(no disrespect to the mature and intelligent fans)).

Its just utter s.hite that u need to depend on your history to achieve or prove anything, past achievements were achieved by different people, different personnel, it doesn't make sense to live off history.

Here's the thing, we probably haven't got much of a history compared to the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool but we sure are building history right now in this present.

In regards to your outburst Mikey, I'm glad that you've calm down, but you need to live with the fact that money does fly around in any sport nowadays, you'd be living under a shell not to realize that. Just focus yer energies and intelligence on supporting your club and give less s.hit to whatever other clubs are doing.

Well, its been awful quiet around here, so I'll just update some stuff.

First Essien is out up to 6 months, a big BIG blow to us.

Our legend Franco has taken the hotseat at West Ham, and its been rumoured that he's going to take Clarkey with him(which I hope isn't true, I like Clarkey and would want him to stay with us).

Man City on Saturday, great game in store for us. Hopefully it turns out like it always does.
cheers fellas.

You will probably beat us 3-0 and the papers will be full of 'City in Crisis' stories again.

Although with England winning this week and Rooney actually scoring a goal, the stars are probably aligned such that SWP will score a brace against you guys and Robinho gets a goal on debut.

THats what Hoddle would say anyway.

haha....good clip Zakov.

Good win against City. I was a bit nervous going into this game I must admit. Even though we know Sparky still has some work to do yet with his team, the euphoria and adrenaline the City team must have been feeling going into the game, was the factor that I thought would be a threat to us.

Add to that the absence of Drog, Essien and Ballack, and remembering that our England players had a full on 90 minutes against Croatia on Wednesday, I was a little concerned to say the least.

Why did I need to worry. The boys did great. Ricci blasted in the first. Frank danced around the defence before slotting his home, and Nico scored the kind of goals he was made for (at last).

The only negative was JT's ridiculous red card. Sure the foul by JT was an obvious one, but he was not the last defender because Ricci was there, as can be seen by all the replays. Chelsea will contest the red obviously, but how much good it will do remains in the hands of the FA.

The ref said that he sent JT off for "Serious foul play". According to the FA rules, serious foul play is,

"A referee can show a player the red card and send him or her off the field if: (1) a defending player intentionally impedes an opponent unlawfully when the opponent has an obvious opportunity of scoring a goal;

Not the case.

(2) a player is guilty of violent conduct or serious foul play, including spitting; (3) a defending player other than the goalkeeper in his or her own penalty area intentionally handles the ball to prevent a goal or prevent a goalscoring opportunity; (4) a player uses offensive, insulting, or abusive language to anyone on the field of play; (5) a player persists in misconduct after receiving a caution; (6) a player tackles an opposing player from behind.

Never happened. The FA will never back down though IMO.

So, 3-1 to us. Top of the table still with a healthy goal difference. Long way to go but at this stage I am a happy Blue. (Y)

Both Vidic and JT will be missing the 'clash'. I am pretty sure Chelsea is loosing more with the captain and one of the vocal leaders on the pitch.

On the other side watching Man U loose back to back games is kinda tempting so go Bluez (H)

Pool looks legit this year, about time they fight for the title.

I agree about JT, the club should appeal immediately even if there's not much hope that the FA would do anything about it.
Even Sparky thought it was harsh and that Halsey was erratic that day.
I thought it was similiar to the Vidic tackle against Liverpool which only warranted a yellow card.

JT wouldn't have pulled off that stupid tackle if he didn't know that Riccy was just behind him. Halsey got that all wrong.

Assuming that we do appeal and its turned down, we've still got a decent enough CB in Alex. Our main problem is the DM role, assuming Mikel gets injured we don't have much cover in that department.
Hence, we've been linked with Appiah(who's a free agent btw).

But I think we should give our young guns a chance, Michael Woods is a promising prospect and should be given the opportunity should we lose Mikel through injury as well.

Help?

That will dissapear before Christmas time when all the teams will have gelled with their first squad, while Benitez still keeps on rotating his players

Its going to be almost impossible for you guys to appeal becast Terry clearly had his sights on taking down Jo, he went into him, then wrapped his arm around Jo's stomach, that's a clear intent to take the player down and not the ball.
