Nice to see Anelka scoring 3 times..... I really apreciate this player, even if I would prefer to see him in France!!!

You have a great a good striker with him, I hope he'll do a good season;

Cause we have a Keeper that was one of the best in the world not so long ago, and because Kalac showed last season that he can perform, today he was bad but also unlucky, people tend to put everything in the same basket when they see one mistake, but ok i agree that he isn't fit to be Milan's #1, but i believe that Abbiati is and if you would have seen the game against Sevilla and in the Trofeo TIM you'd think that too, also if Dida doesn't recover from his shoulder injury and doesn't recover his form he should be out next summer and Felipe will come in his place and be Abbiati's understudy, i believe that's enough.

It's not the first time when Kalac does things like that. He moves like he would have a baseball bat in the ass.

How have the new signings and people who didn't feature much last year doing in these friendlies? Mikel, Ivanovic, etc.

Ivanovic had a decent game, went forward and put in some decent crosses, defended quite comfortable but Milan weren't much of an attacking threat tbh.
Mikel did a decent quiet job in midfield. Sheva looked lost was once again, really can't see how he'll regain his confidence back. Carlo replaced Cech but didn't have to do much in the match.
Ballack got a run in for 45 minutes, looked short of match sharpness.
Portsmouth on the 18th, Big Phil claims he's already got 85% of the team sorted.
I reckon it will be, Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Riccy, Ashley, Joey, Lamps, Deco, Essien, Mikel, Anelka

Only a pre season game as you say, but boy it's nice to see a few goals go in huh? I was more than happy with the overall effort from everyone too. Some nice teamplay for the goals and throughout the match. Malouda even looked like a different player from last season. 4 goals for Nic must have cheered him up a bit, and Frank's still scoring with a smile on his face.:) I saw Roman laughing his arse off when the 5th goal went in, so he enjoyed himself anyway. Altogether a very enjoyable tour.

Looks like Frank is set to sign for another 5 years on his return to England. Drog is supposed to be signing a new 4 year deal too. SWP say's he has never once desired a move away from Chelsea, and that he wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I'm glad he's not going anywhere, although I think his dad will be a bit pissed off over it. :)

It's amazing to see the difference in a player once he is played IN position dont you think? In this pre season tour, I've liked the way Scolari seems to have got the under achievers from last season, performing so well when being allowed to play in their strongest positions. Nik and Malouda in particular have looked almost re-invented.

There also seems to be signs that the club in general has begun a new and better phase. The players seem to have a spring in their step once again, and are playing like they enjoy it once more, and the overall mood is so much lighter. We have Scolari for 4 years at least, so we (players and fans), have that long to enjoy a good few years of stability which hopefully, will lend itself towards Chelsea winning lots more titles and trophies in the coming years.

Just when I think Kalac couldn't get any worse, the man never fails to amaze me. Get Abbiati in there as soon as possible. :icon_spin:

Anelka seems to be enjoying himself and is scoring goals, I knew given enogh time he would start raking them in. I don't understand people who are saying he was disappointing last season, he joined in January he did pretty well for some one who had no time to integrate. Sheva on the other hand will have to see,:clapwap: I would place him in a partner ship with Anelka for the two games that Drogba will miss when the season kicks off. :

Big Phill seems pretty confident lets hope he can back it up with silver wear this season. :smilex:

I don't think there's much hope for Sheva tbh, he's clearly not the same player he was, and he looks lost in this Chelsea team but he just can't settle.
Believe, I would love to see Sheva back at his best but its just hard to imagine judging from his recent appearances. I really hope he does prove me wrong, but I said that last season as well. :(

Dah Shinin', I reckon i've heard yer SG nick mentioned in a Simpsons episode(In the treehouse of horror, Groundskeeper Willy), or did you get the name "Dah Shinin'" from somewhere else? just curious :D

I haven't heard any transfer rumours in a while, and I'm glad for the stability, but, does this mean Big Phil is content with the squad? I thought we'd see more ins and outs honestly.

What's the deal with Bosingwa btw? Has he played? Is he promising?

I really need to find a way to watch these matches, this is ridiculous.

Zakov

Senior Squad
we don't need more ins and outs, but I wouldn't say no to Robinho...
If you ask fans of other clubs, I think most of them would agree that we 'ave the best squad ON PAPER...we've got two of the best in this position, in that position, so why change all that?
Ivanovic looks a decent player and he's the youngest of the full-backs.

Bosingwa looked great on his debut, I managed to watch his contributions against Guangzhou for 20 mins or so, he was bombing forward and tracking back like a beast.

Lampard, Drogba could commit their long term futures to Chelsea.
Paulo, Bridgey, Cech, Essien have all signed extensions.
With Di Santo, Sinclair, Mancienne, Gael Kakuta coming through the ranks the future looks bright for us.

Yeah its pretty sad about Sheva, I've still got a feeling he will find his feet tho, this season is pretty much do or die for him.

As for the name its a mixture of both I got it from the Simpsons but the why its written is from the album title by hiphop duo Smif-N-Wessun.

Franco Di Santo has been given the number 9 shirt for Chelsea. Scolari says he has earned it, and is ready to feature regularly in the team this season. Deco has number 20, and Jose Bosingwa has number 17.

Bosingwa and Drog have started light training today, 2 weeks ahead of schedule. They will both still miss the opening game against Portsmouth, but will be back in the squad after that game.

Chelsea have tabled a bid of almost £20 million for Robinho. His agent has said today that he is not happy with Real Madrid's attitude towards him, and he would love to move to Chelsea.

I thought with the Ronaldo deal falling through, Madrid were going to hang on to Robinho, and he would be happy to stay. It now seems that since Madrid bought Van der Vart this week, Robinho is even more determined to leave them. He has said, " Robinho does not intend to say at a club where he would be fourth choice".

This was from his agent and not from the man himself, so lets see where this goes.

Zakov

yeah, but the thing is the last time we heard from Robinho himself, he said he was happy at Madrid and wanted to commit his long term future there, he was just unhappy at not being able to go to the Olympics.
Its like the Lampard situation, where the agent comes out and does too much talking.
Who was the last striker to hold the number 9? Crespo!!
I believe we have another Argentine star in the making here, I know I'm hyping him up but I've seen a him in pre-season and some of the reserve games, as well as some clips of him when he was at Chile.
I think we've got a great striker here.

Yeah we have.

Official announcement from Chelsea. Frank has signed a new 5 year deal, and will stay with us for the rest of his career.

"We've signed my new contract today," he told Chelsea TV. "I'm personally very happy and I hope I've made the Chelsea fans happy. I've had seven great seasons here and now I can have many more.

"It's been a difficult summer for many reasons and that was one of the frustrating things. A lot of things were said that were untrue, some things were said that were slightly true and that was frustrating. Now we can put that to bed and concentrate on football."
Yeeeees(Y)

Bosingwa will start against Portsmouth. His thigh injury has cleared up in time.

So all in all it's looking good :)

Kaka? Those are only speculation by Italian media, Kaka won't be leaving Milan and we won't be paying 100mil for him either...O.o

I'm glad Frank signed to a new contract, hopefully Joey and Didier would do the same with minimum fuss in the future.(For the latter it would be more difficult, tbh :P)

And there are several rumours that Ivanovic might be heading to Milan, but I clearly doubt it since he was still here at Fans day.

Can't wait for the game against Pompey!
Come on Chels!!

Starting XI
I just read a article saying Mutu has to pay Chelsea 17 Million Euro's. Also I'm hoping Pizarro gets a fresh start. I mean you can't really be hard on him in his first season in the EPL. I mean come on the man probably didn't even know that much english and the fast pace game is totally different from the German Style of play.

So the new season kicks off for us this Sunday, where we welcome Portsmouth to the Bridge. Chelsea will start with Nicolas Anelka on his own up front with Didier Drogba and Andriy Shevchenko still injured and Salomon Kalou at the Olympics.
Jose Bosingwa and Deco are set to make their debuts.

Portsmouth include new signings Peter Crouch, Younes Kaboul and Jerome Thomas but not Pedro Mendes. He has joined Rangers today.

We have a 21 match unbeaten run to preserve, and also our record of 82 games unbeaten at home. We have not lost the opening game of the season since 1998, and have won every opening game for the last seven seasons.

Portsmouth on the other hand, have dropped more points (29) lost more games (nine) and conceded more goals (20) to Chelsea than to any other club since gaining promotion to the Premier League in 2003.

It's now 53 years since Pompey last left Stamford Bridge with maximum points, courtesy of a 1-5 top flight triumph on 3 September 1955.

Still, if we are not wide awake, Portsmouth will prove to be dangerous. Good coach and good players as we all know. Peter Crouch will be a handful in his debut for Pompey if he plays.

Good luck to Scolari in his first Premier League game, and lets not just win, but win in style. That would be pleasing.

Pizarro14, Pizarro was sent on loan to Werder Bremen today for the whole of this season. It's a shame that for whatever reason, he never settled in at Chelsea.

Enjoy the new season my fellow Blues. I think it's true to say that we deserve to feel optimistic as the opening day draws closer. All the troubles at the club have receeded, we have a new coach, new players and all the existing players are settled and happy once more.

Lets bring it all home to the Bridge this season. We ARE hungry, and we DO want it.

Zakov

Senior Squad
Can't wait for things to start, I really hope we start the game well, we don't want to give Portsmouth any chances of winning. We need to get off a decent start, In the past few seasons, we've always been slow starters in matches under Jose but hopefully this season we get out of the blocks quickly.

The main possible threat is from Crouch and Defoe. Defoe looked sharp against Utd, he's one Riccy and JT need to look out for. Lets hope Crouch hasn't settled in yet at Pompey, that seemed to be the case in the Community Shield.

I reckon BPS will start with 5 midfielders. Joey, Lamps, Deco, Mikel/Ballack and Essien to support Anelka.

Its exciting times for us, with new exciting players.
Come on Chels!!

On a side note, really relieved Lamps signed that new contract to destroy any hopes of Jose nabbing him from us. And you don't have to change yer sig Pete!! It worked out for the best....hehe

Team Captain
Hahahahaa.....Yeah I stuck with it 'cos I was pretty confident that Lamps would stay. Saying that though, there were a couple of times in the off season that I fekt a little concerned. Kenyon released a statement that implied that Frank could either take the existing deal on the table, or move on. Kenyon is such a prick.

The story goes that Roman told Kenyon to give Frank what he wants as a thank you for all that he has given to Chelsea over the last seven years, and the fact that Frank is a Chelsea icon, who deserves a bit more respect than Kenyon has been giving to him. Roman had to explain to Kenyon that no club in their right minds would let a player like Frank Lampard leave, so to give him an extra year on his new contract was a small price to pay.

Kenyon the businessman versus Roman the football fan. Good on yer Roman.(Y)

I entirely agree about Crouch. His presence in any teams attack has always concerned me. He is a smart, quick thinking player, who is more skillful than people give him credit for. I would actually have been perfectly happy if we would have signed him this summer. That way he would not be playing against us but playing for us. I like Crouchy a lot.
