So, I haven't posted a career mode story for quite a few years (Fifa 06 I think), but I am quite impressed with the way the career mode has been revamped so I have been inspired.
It took me a while to decide which team to take, I wanted a challenge, but I didn't want to start in the lower leagues.
I opted for QPR with Legendary difficulty in matches and board.
The board expects me to finish in midtable with a budget of 5m.
The pre-season didn't go well, since I am still getting used to the new gameplay. I lost all three pre-season friendlies (the last being a very tight and encouraging 3-2 defeat against Inter).
My team pretty much needed strengthening in almost all departments. I opted to strengthen the defence with Camacho (CDM) and Onuoah (RB/C
for 6m.
I got rid of about 8 players on loan deals or permanent ones and the squad looks a lot better. The fact that I haven't been able to invest in any attacking player is worrying and I am finding it difficult to find the goals.
My season started well with a 2-1 victory over Bolton and a 0-0 draw at Everton. However, embarrasingly high defeats against Wigan and Newcastle followed.
I will definitely stay clear of relegation but I hope that will do for a board that is looking for us to finish in midtable.
So far, my best player by far is Taraabt. He's been involved in all the goals by scoring 1 (a long range effort to give me my first win against Bolton) and providing 2 assists.
If you need a good AMC, he's your man.
Tactically I have alternated between 4-3-2-1 and 4-2-3-1 with the general style changing, as well. I think I might try two strikers next in a 4-2-2-2 or simple 4-1-2-1-2.
It's been difficult to find the right balance between attacking and defending.
Well, that's all for now. Keep posting your stories since I have enjoyed reading what you have all been doing.
