I agree with the gateway drug theory because ive witnessed it happen. My friend started out smoking pot on the weekends, then went to a couple times a day. He told me at the time that pot was the only drug he would ever do. A year later, after daily pot use, he started trying pills. He need a better high. He got hooked on pills, built a tolerance. 2 vicadin no longer gave him a high, so he went to 6 vicadin at a time. And all this time, hes been drinking constantly too.

Drugs are bad.:kader:

one example...even 10...not enough to back up the thoery

sorry, but your addictive-prone friend would have gotten addicted no matter how he started, thats just his personality, has nothing to do with the plant, drug whatever

I think weed is a gateway drug. It's the introduction to the drug culture. Sure not all people (or even most people) do anything more than weed, but how many people go directly from no drugs to cocaine?

how many people would go from using weed legally to using hard drugs? probably the same that do with alcohol, which is a much harsher and damaging drug.

No no no, because alcohol is acceptable. Weed is a part of the drug culture. You deal with the same people who have to deal with harder drugs and hear about them more and perhaps get curious.

Saw people do it (and did some myself) in Holland. Almost nothing here though. Holland was more open and liberal towards drugs and alcohol.

thats the point. Weed is made illegal for not legitmate reasons so now it is illegal. Imagine if cigarettes were made illegal. When alcohol was banned in the USA in the 1930's, what happened? Organized crime began to bring alcohol into the USA from Canada. The same thing happens now with weed.

Weed is only illegal now because Mexican imigrants were the main users in the early 1990s and it was banned to control that population from mixing too much with the white people.

Uh..........I think it was illegal before 1990.

You're right, if it is made legal it wouldn't introduce people to the culture. But regardless, I believe it is a gateway drug right now.
