there are some teams that Brasil should never lose to....especially at that yound age.
I like how Brasil gets humbled every now and then, so that these young players dont all think they are Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. But getting dominated aganist Canada is not good for Brasil. At least this wasnt a tournament...

btw, when is the next game? will it be on american tv?

You shouldn't be too bothered about that, even the best U20 teams lose to the most unexpected teams, when there's really nothing in game, say good thing this wasn't in the U20 WC or in the Sudamericano.

At least Brazil isn't wasting time in that Toulon tournament.:nape:

Yeah, yeah... and there are some countries that should never develop...

But like, Brazil's U20 lost to Canada's U20 in a friendly, it's not such a big deal. For now at least nothing will change Brazil will still be Brazil and Canada will still be Canada.

I know it's no big deal, and I know countries will get stronger and stronger... Id just like to make sure Brasil is doing the same.
we'll see in the second game what the results are and if Brasil gets dominated again...

In Canada they dont know too much about football (some of the medias) and kept saying "Canada vs. The best youth team in the World"

That is such a lie as the best youth team BY FAR (unquestionable) is Argentina, world wide. You look at Brazil's youth teams over the years and like 2 players (max) make it to the first division.

While Argentina you have monsters playing who become world stars 2-3 years later.

Beating Brazil was good though, shows a good improvement.

I dont know about that Argentina stuff, as the youth tournament were all dominated by Brasil up until 2 or 3 years ago...our U17 squad isnt bad, but it was better than Argentinas...the U20, Argentina seems to be the stronger...

Well still, even if Brazil loses it Canada still has a long way, because even if Canada becomes stronger it won't be easy for these kids, and it always happen that some don't make it the whole road. I mean last year Argentina and Brazil played 2 matches at the U20 and they were both in tournaments(on in the Sudamericano and other one in the world cup) but still the things between Argentina and Brazil on the rest didn't change a lot and if they are to change it will be on some years.

Regarding the youth football, probably Argentina is the best at U20, but Argentina has never been as good in the U17 as in the U20, probably Brazil remains as the best there and being very close to the top in the U20. Since 1995 Argentina has won 4 U20 world cups, '95, '97, '01 and '05 if i recall correctly, '99 and '03 were won by Brazil, which yeah, may make Argentina the best but Brazil made it to the top 3 in the last one. However with a deeper look, the '95 title has been an weird case, because from the champion team only Sorin(who was the captain of that team) is on the national team actually, or that ever got to play in the national team, the rest play in first or second division teams however(Irigoytia, Juan, F. Dominguez, etc), unlike the rest where most(if not all) of those players are the one that will play on Germany.

The success of Argentina in the youth teams, was a legacy of Pekerman because such thing was thanks to his work with the guys. And the clubs promoting their own youth players is kind of a key to success, just look at Vélez Sarsfield.

True, it's never easy for Canadian youth to persue a career in football....things are a lot different today than it used to be though. Before Canadian U17, U20, U21 teams were made up of kids from University teams, and that's where the majority of their careers ended. Nowadays, most actually play for professional teams in Europe (usually English lower league teams) or at least their reserve squads

They're playing game 2 right now and Canada is up 1-0 in the 2nd half. The goal was scored by Andrea Lombardo.

FRICK....thats so annoying...but hopefully humbling for our squad...

For the record Brasil has 3 U20's and Argentina has 4
And U17 I think Brasil has 4 or 5 I'll check....

update me with the result of this game plz!!

Reserve Team
Brazil 3-1 Canada.

Brazil scored on a PK, a rebound off a freekick and a 2 on 1 in injury time when Canada was down to 10 men.

Seems like another piss poor Mexican ref was reffing this match.

Hmm, probably if the canadian clubs had youth teams it would be a lot better than having players to be "formed" in schools or universities, it's not the same. Because the guys grow a feeling for the colors they are defending, and they will be motivated to someday defend them at the top level.

Most youth players come from the provincial national training centres in Canada. We only have 3 clubs in Canada that play in a semi professional league. Youth players have to go abroad if they want to play professionally. That's why many youth players just end up getting a degree and job.

But with Toronto FC coming there will be more oppurtunities for these youth players.
