Whats the problem if he uses a legend of the club he supports as his sig even if he's English? Fowler is a past Liverpool legend. Case closed.Luis Ah-Hoy said:i just wanted to understand why the hell, A BRAZILIAN, with so many talented countrymen to cheer for, would choose to have R. Fowler in his sig instead...

Luis Ah-Hoy said:if i was to have a sig, maybe i would put the great Eusebio, who was born Mozambican, but played for Portugal (which is one of the two countries that i'm cheering for in this WC)
Current Liverpool legend, please.CR_manutd said:Fowler is a past Liverpool legend. Case closed.

Fair point, though I guess out of the brazilians around, only William uses a brazilian player sigLuis Ah-Hoy said:The point is (let's use same logic here):
1. A brazilian, generally tend to cheer for a brazilian player, rather then to a foreign player (an englishman, in this case).
Actually, even though brazilians have a strong link with Portugal, those with no portuguese family roots tend to scorn them more than like them. Some would even say the portuguese are responsible for the current situation in the country (to which I must disagree).Luis Ah-Hoy said:2. Brazil, is the country where the most amazing and talented players are born and they even "lend" some very good players to other NT's (e.g. Deco, Dos Santos, some kid from the U-17 Mexican squad, etc...), but they're still the strongest NT on paper. So, if a brazilian chooses to cheer for a foreign player, it's not bcoz his country lacks talented players... because actually, the most talented players ARE form his country... so let's jump to next point...
3. It would be more usual to see a brazilian cheering for a portuguese player, then to an english player... because Brazil is historically and culturally linked with the portuguese... but even so, it would raise the same question: "Why are you cheering for a portuguese player, when there are so many great brazilian ones to cheer for, some are retired (like the greastest one - Pelé ), and some (like Ronaldinho and Kaka), are on action?!"
I've grown into a Corinthians fan family, so obviously if I have to choose one team to cheer for in Brazil, I'd cheer for them. But I don't care as much for them as I do for Liverpool. You can see in the Libertadores thread I commented on most of Corinthians matches because they're quite popular around here, and they get most matches on TV, which doesn't happen with 'pool. (oh, and please don't mix them up with the bambis. The bambis got awarded the Club Championship last year - got awarded, not won, since they scored 1 and allowed 3, not Corinthians. Corinthians won in 2000)Luis Ah-Hoy said:So the point is, if you're a brazilian, and taking in account those aspects i mentioned above... by logic, i expect you to support a brazilian player, and of course, a brazilian club, because the brazilian domestic league it's not bad at all (Corinthians for instance, won the Club World Championship very recently... against Liverpool... coincidently... )
I've explained my feelings on the brazilian football in another thread, though I really can't remember which now. That's why I don't like brazilian football, and especially the national team. Maybe it was in the Brazilian national team thread, but to summarize it, I don't like them because they turn people's attention from things that should be more important. A lot more important.Luis Ah-Hoy said:Then... you said that you're a Liverpool supporter.... and only then, i started to understand why the R. Fowler sig! Of course, for me it would be interesting to also understand why is a brazilian cheering for an english club... but then, i didn't feel like raising more questions... case closed! If you still don't get my point, then maybe CR_manutd can explain it in better english (if wants to, of course), since he already got the point, as he said!
Maybe there are players better than Robbie Fowler in Brazil, but believe me when I tell you that Gral is NOT. Also, we could argue all day long about whether or not a player is better than another, but I'll stop it here. I'll just mention that no brazilian player would ever play for Liverpool with as much love for the club as Robbie.Luis Ah-Hoy said:I don't know this Gral, or whatever he's called... but anyway.... there are like, hundreds of brazilian players that Robbie Fowler cannot compare to, because they're better than him... that's a fact! Not all of the brazilian players are better than Robbie Fowler, of course... but there are so many to choose from...
I think you explained your point already so no needLuis Ah-Hoy said:If you still don't get my point, then maybe CR_manutd can explain it in better english (if wants to, of course), since he already got the point, as he said!
1) Overrated. He's not half the player he was at Barcelona.WilliamFAlmeida said:why you hate Ronaldo Kibe?
He'd do well here (in the second division), but he gets a lot of money in Japan. Actually, there are loads of brazilians in Japan. It's one of 3 countries that got more than 30 brazilian players last year (Italy and Portugal are the others)CR_manutd said:Is he not good enough for the Brazillian league or what?
Kibe Kru said:1) Overrated. He's not half the player he was at Barcelona.
2) Attitude. Remember his refusal to play Confed Cup? Remember his "nobody loves me" act at Madrid? He's paid well enough to take criticism and if he cares enough about the NT, he'd play. People work their arses off for a chance to play there, yet he is a lazy bastard and still gets off being called up and being permanent starter.
