fcbayern.deHoeneß: 'We've struck an agreement'
After months of speculation, all the signs are pointing to France international Willy Sagnol remaining at Bayern beyond the end of his current contract in summer 2006. The dynamic right-back is set to agree an extension keeping him in Munich until 30 June 2010, general manager Uli Hoeneß reported from the club's Dubai training camp.
"We've struck an agreement. Willy will definitely stay with us for another four years," Hoeneß declared on Saturday during the German champions' first workout at the Al Wasl football club training facility in Dubai. "The player will definitely make his decision public this week," Hoeneß continued.
That would put an end to a protracted will he, won't he story surrounding the player. Sagnol informed the club in late September he would not extend his stay, and had a number of offers from around Europe. Hoeneß and the board subsequently persuaded the 28-year-old to delay a final decision and take time out to consider Munich's own offer.
The media has buzzed with speculation ever since. Now, the right-back appears to have made up his mind following consultations with his family over Christmas. Sagnol arrived at Bayern from Monaco in 2000 and has built up an impressive medal collection, including three Bundesliga championships, two DFB German Cups, the Champions League and the World Club Cup.
Willy has made 137 Bundesliga appearances (five goals) and has contested 46 Champions League fixtures for Bayern. An absolute crowd favourite in Munich, his increasingly important role in the dressing room hierarchy was demonstrated when he took over the captain's armband for the first time in a competitive fixture against Wolfsburg last October.
Assuming Sagnol now proceeds to put his name to a new deal, Bayern will have added another vital component to the squad for the next few years, after sealing long-term commitments from Oliver Kahn, Sebastian Deisler, Lucio, Martin Demichelis and Owen Hargreaves among others. A decision regarding Michael Ballack's future is the one burning issue still to be resolved.
Deisler said:A reason more for Awax to love this club i guess.
We don't need some Fiorentina benchwarmer. 12 million, bloody hell.Meanwhile, Bayern have reportedly opened talks with Fiorentina regarding the availability of Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojinov.
The Viola have previously intimated their reluctance to sell the highly-rated Bojinov, although Bayern's persistence may yet pay dividends.
The Germans are prepared to offer €12 million in order to push a deal through during the January transfer window with the loss of Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz through injury forcing the hand of Magath.
He just got up when the pic was taken. And it's bloody cold. :sun:ShiftyPowers said:Kahn looks terrible. Maybe we should call up FC Dubai and offer him to them.
-Vince- said:Good luck to Ballack in Italy. He will probably enjoy playing in empty stadiums week in week out.
They may be excellent stadiums, but they certainly won't be packed stadiums...IceBlu said:not anymore.
He'll play at the Comunale Stadium next season and the renovated Delle Alpi after that
(if he indeed goes to Juve that is...)

Barcelona don't need him...Chelsea don't need him...ManU, Inter and Real might need him but the chances of them winning something big(CL, league...) in the near future doesn't look great.
