not expecting it to be great, but I'll watch it nonetheless. liked the series a lot when I was small and also watched all the movies.

when is it going to be released?

edit: actually, it's called The Dark Knight and it will be out next summer.

I think batman-begins brought something to superhero movies that is rarely ever achieved. The feeling that its made for a mature audience. most end up looking like kid stories. Batman begins had the dark shadow of emotions, alongwith the hero factor...which i for one really enjoyed...

Waiting for this one!

Yeah, it seems that Hollywood is not only running out of Superheroes but also running out of ideas on how to use those superheroes. This may seem as slightly too much flame, coming from me, but I just really hate how unoriginal things are becoming. Mind you, im a big sucker for Superhero stuff and I always end up watching the movie( s ) one way or another. But thats just one more reason for me to be more demanding, right?

Heath Ledger as the Joker, made me scratch my head but he's a great actor and he certainly looks convincing in this picture, he won't be no Carlos, not even close but I'm sure he'll do a good job.

This is the only superhero series that I care about anymore because the first movie was truly different from all the other gay bubblegum cookiecutter ones that pop up every summer.

Well, The Dark Knight mini-series by Frank Miller was by far the best Batman comic ever.

This doesn't look like it's a remake of that, since in that it's an ageing Batman coming out of retirement after seeing Gotham turn into the worst cesspool possible. Dark, gloomy and with no happy ending and a blurring of the lines between hero and villain, that series is still as powerful for me as the first time I read it when I was 15.

From the look of these latest installments of the Batman movie franchise, they have maintained the dark and brooding air which I enjoy about the character, but have also distanced themselves from the earlier movies by bringing back the Joker character.

I'll watch it, if only out of interest to see what they do with one of the icons of my early teens, and also to see how they continue to develop this incarnation of Batman, which is far superior to the earlier movies.

Pics from the movie, click on the thumnail. I still think the Batmobile is fugly.

I realize the costume is supposed to have a theme of "fear" or something, but I hope they limit the scenes with the costume to a minimum. It really looks "funny". A lot funnier than Superman and Spiderman's.

Maybe it's all the synthetic, shiny black curves. I don't know.

Superman looked alien, Spiderman looked cool. But Batman's costume looks like a normal grown-up man with lots of spare time to fullfill some childhood desires.

But it will still be better than any other crappy Batman movie. (Batman Begins not included)

This movey along with the first ones are the attemps to remake the series after they were literally pounded to the ground by all those gay little movies that came out back in the 90's....The fact of the matter is that, althougth a lot of people liked the first batman with Nicholson and all that; the movey was not true to the comics and neither was the joker character. Batman begins and now this one the dark knight are the closest that movies have come to the comics; they are darker, they are more mature and from what I have heard the lines between hero and villian indeed get blurred by this latest batman, I believe there is yet a third movie in the works....I am definetly looking forward to this, definetly a different kind of superhero movies

This movie is gonna be great, i can feel it. I think that after Batman Begins the producers know exactly what direction they should go into with the series and i have high hopes for this one. However, i'm as well a bit dissapointed that they used the Joker here, i can't remember the very first Batman movie, but i believe that there wasn't any time missing in between him falling into the chemical bowl and then fighting Batman, so putting the character into the movie will kind of conflict with the storyline of previous movies.

And as mentioned before Nicholson was so perfect for the role, Joker never stops smilling and neither does Carlos Nicholson. Plus there are still so many great villains out there that you could use in the movie, i for one would love to see Hugo Strange or the best one would be Man-Bat!

Meh, once the movie comes out, i'll probably forget all about the conflicting storylines.

I read somewhere that this Joker will be far more psychotic and coldblooded evil than the first one. It's apparently based on "The Killing Joke" graphic novel.

I agree though, Nicholson was absolute class in the first one. I didn't think Keaton did at all badly as Batman either. The damage was done when Joel Schumacher took the reigns - the only thing good about Batman Forever was Jim Carrey as the Riddler.
