Starting XI
I'm satisfied with the scoreline considering how we played in addition to that sending off. I think we have a greater chance to qualify than Roma. :)

In the next game, Perrotta will not be available for Roma, and Scholesy will be suspended as well.

It's time for the squad players to step up and show what they are all about.

Cracking game! It was interesting to see Roma as the hesitant side in the last minutes as if they were scared to get scored on again and go to Old Trafford having to make up 2 away goals.

Roma have to play with the exact same style and rhythm and take the game at United next week or they'll be knocked out for sure.

Good result, considering the circumstances, I am expecting some high tempo stuff next week, SAF was releaved and he knows that we can finish this next week, but we have to keep the clean sheet at home and that won't be easy with those long range shots of a few Roma players, Roma is a good team, but I know that we can finish them off if we play at our level, Ronaldo and Rooney stepped up at the right time

Terrible.
The game wasn't particularly interesting to watch and definitely not a good game from United's point of view.
The passing was ridiculously bad. I still don't get how they can play so well in the Premiership and then come into the Champions League and pass so terrible. I mean passing is passing, no matter if it's against an English team or against a European web site.

Not a bad result. Slightly disappointed with Van Der Sar clearance that lead to the goal kinda remind me of one against Porto.

What can i say. Roma arent bad after all. I hope we dont get in trouble with UEFA for the stupid behaviour of fans. Roma play some good stuff. United werent really there today. They handled our players. Apart from the Rooney goal theres not much else that happened.

Help?

Can't blame VDS, that shot was a rocket from Mancini, it was Brown's fault for standing in no-man's land, instead of covering Vucinic. Really bad goal to give up.

Anyways, 2-1 is not great, but its OK. I don't see Roma winning at Old Trafford in any way. A draw is pretty realistic for them however, but not a win. All United need is a 1-0 win and they know its very much possible.

Damn Scholes, he had 6 tackles in 30 minutes and he didn't touch the ball in any of them, like how bad can he be at tackling? Messed it all up for us. Roma started strong, but after 20 minutes we were slowly gaining control of the game, until the friging sending off. Geez, Scholes.

Funny, though, how so much was said about Ronaldo diving, when all i saw is Roma winning non-existant freekicks and falling over from every touch. Perotta was just amazing with his appeal. Mancini, another great diver, he shouldn't talk about Ronaldo and italian defenses being too strong for him because all i saw is him complaining all over the place and Ronaldo killing everybody on the right wing. Roma needed 2-3 players everytime to try and stop Ronaldo, one on one he killed Chivu, Panucci, Mexes, you name it.

Great goal from Rooney though, 2-1 is still very much in a balance a 1-0 or a win by more than 1 goal and we'll be through, which is very very realistic, considering that we will actually be playing with 11 players.

mika: get used to it because in 6 days you will absolutely dispise it.

**NEWSFLASH**

Roma was exposed on the counter because they HAD TO leave the Olimpico with a lead, otherwise United would bottle them up at home and win.

Now that its 2-1, Roma will sit back and do what United did tonight = counter attack.

United's going out of the competition next week.

United is a 1 man team = Ronaldo. We did an okay job of stopping him. Next week we'll do even better now that we understand how he plays.

Well said, couldn't have said it better myself. I am expecting some exploding stuff next week, especially from us, but the lads have to stay focused, cause we all know the strength of Italian sides

We'll see, Roma needed 3 or 4 players just to stop Ronaldo and still he created that little chance which lead to Rooney's goal, it ain't over till it's over,
