Exactly. The youth system at Arsenal is a joke.

The thing is Wenger is not here working for the english national team. You cannot fault the way arsenal has been run- we have won many trophies with wenger in charge, broken records etc etc.

Wenger is not interested in making a victory for english football, only arsenal football club.

The youth system at arsenal is far from a joke, as can be seen now, what does it matter where you were born!!

Wait until the world cup if you want to support England!! Yes it would be nice to see some london guys representing, but more important is that they have quality.

The beauty of club football, is building it up so it can have its own identity, its fair to say Arsenal have built a good reputation and identity in football.

grow up, its a goal 60-70% of the time. Had Riquelme taken it, that percentage goes up.

when theyre denied a chance in the box because of a blatant foul that shouldve been punished, thats a world away from putting a chance wide and on the same level as being onsides and scoring, but having it called back

Yeah, that argument makes sense, but with us its different man, surely you know it. Man United were beloved by a good portion of the press for being great reps of English football and dominating year after year, and accosted by those who thought they were cheap shot artists, in the minority. Arsenal were lauded for playing a beautiful game, but being theatrical and were criticized for their lack of english talent, but again, they style and trophies still had people lining up to praise them

Nobody likes chelsea at all. Ill admit, its the exception to the rule when we play elegantly, but we win points, do well in europe, advance english talent, and play evenhandedly, or at least with as much grit and dirt (essien) or theatrics (robben, Drogba, Crespo) as everyone else has done or will do, but somehow when Wright-Phillips goes down under what were "dubious" (he runs into a player at full gallop and falls...how the f*ck can people say thats simulation?) then suddenly it becomes national news from every corner of the sporting press. Kieron Dyer even called him out to his face about it. Kieron Dyer for god's sake.

Alright, ive hijacked this thread and talked your ear off, so ill leave for good
Wow mature, not. 60-70% doesnt = 100%.. so its not sure that he would have scored on the penelty...

I dont know, but im proud when a player from my team makes it to the NT, you see him evolve into a world class player, he makes it to the NT and then he plays a WC...its pure pride...

The same happened last year with Liverpool, if i can remember correctly the only player from England was Gerrard... :kader:

Err you forgot about the best defender in the CL last season. Jamie Carragher.

Anyway, I'd love to have an XI of English players, if they were as good as the current Arsenal team. But lets face it, that's not possible, we don't have the money.

Villarreal should sell Forlan NOW, before all realize that he sucks...hehehe...Aguero could be the answer... :) /
Please Forlan is the other main reason that Villarreal is at this point.

Villarreal doesnt have great players. In fact, many are terrible. You could tell which ones were actually quality yesturday (even if they played bad) when Riquelme, Forlan and sometimes Sorin would be the ONLY players that could actually be marked by 2-3 guys and managed to escape and create a good chance , while Players like "Josico" or Jose Mari just fell on the floor or just got straight up robbed.

You know damn well that Forlan has always struggled with the English style. Its the same reason why Verron didnt fly at Man U or Crespo is Drogba's little puppy dog bitch at Chelsea (its almost embarassing to see Crespo, who had an incredible season with Milan, as a sub and struggling so much when he comes on <doesnt even create chances vs. Bolton or Westham and you're pissing on Forlan when even Riquelme got his ass ****ed by that Brazilian guy).........this was just the nail in the coffin that the English style doesnt fit many South Americans if even Crespo and Veron struggle.

and btw : TABLA DE GOLEADORES 2006
Crespo Argentina 7
Farfán Perú 7
Adriano Brasil 6
Forlán Uruguay 6

*And if your thinking Forlan played like 6 games less games than Crespo, you'd be right, and aparently CONMEBOL knows that little fact too when they put Forlan as the "Best striker in the Eliminatorias <along with Ronaldo and Adriano> in the "Best XI" of the entire thing.

Jesus im sick of ppl pissing on Forlan. He's won the Golden Boot, Won the Pichichi, Qualified a team with 40,000 ppl into the CL and been huge in leading them to the Semi Finals,..........like I think if he was to win La Liga and the World Cup (while being top scorer) in the next 10 years, some ppl would still "ignore" these facts.

And btw, Im really happy that Ferguson actually went to Villarreal's hotel 2 nights ago to say hi to Forlan and wish him luck. Diego had so many good things to say about Man U and Ferguson, and Fergie never fails to impress.

Well in Uruguay ppl are just happy that we have something better than Argentina (Kind of like the Scots going bananas over the fact that Craig Gordon is better than David James or Paul Robertson <<<Craig Gordon could be the best GK in the UK in a few years)

But I dont know, besides Filliol (best ever), Argentina was never a "GK nation" (they produce more than enough of everything else, dont get me wrong). Its not like Italy who is famous for GKs. So its not very surprising really..................anyways Besides all that, Argentina can rest easy that the best GK they've had in maybe 30 years will lead them into the future (Im speaking of UStari of course, the guy has "legend" written all over him....god damn, great GK.)

The matter with argentinian keepers as i see it is the following, there are 6 argentinian keepers in Europe(at least as far as i recall), but then there's only 1 out of 6(Leo Franco) who you could consider as a national team player, and you find that in the present the keepers that play in Argentina are kind of underrated, except Abbondanzieri and Leyenda maybe, there isn't a keeper that you could say is bad, even substitutes, some are young and more likely Barbosa would go into this new generation of keepers.
