Arsenal unbeatable? Please help lol

Can someone explain what the hell is going on with my PES4? I'm in the FA cup semi final second leg as Man U against Arsenal and I am finding it completely impossible to beat them. I have tried this match at least 20 times now, and every time some stupid set of circumstances end with Arsenal beating me:

- I can't win a SINGLE header, and if I do the ball doesn't connect properly and kind of just rolls off the player's shoulder, so corners and cross-ins are useless to me
- My keeper stands and lets stray balls trickle into his net
- Lehmann is a machine who saves EVERYTHING, including 3 penalties I had during my 20-odd games
- My players can't tie up their laces and trip up whenever I go one-on-one with the keeper, or just dont respond to my command and run into the keeper while I'm hammering shoot.
- I get straight-up red cards for slide tackles from the front, while Arsenal have perfected the art of sliding from behind without tripping my player
- I get offsides when the ball rebounds off the post or bar (something which happens whenever Lehmann doesn't block a shot)
- If I do score (which is always from a rebound while Lehmann is on the floor), then straight from the kick-off Henry will just run the ball into the net to equalise, invincible to even a desperate sliding tackle.
- Players receiving a pass are uncontrollable and just stand there waiting for it. Inevitably an Arsenal player will run in and intercept it.

Obviously in a perfect world I would be able to sort the above issues out, but for now I would be very happy if someone could suggest tactics that might make me more efficient in front of goal. Here is my set up:

Default formation (4-4-2A i think)

GK: Howard
LB: Heinze
Inside LB: Chivu (got him from Roma i think, don't remember)
Inside RB: Ferdinand
RB: O'Shay
LMF: Giggs
DMF: Roy Keane
RMF: Ronaldo
OMF: Scholes
Offensive Striker: Van Nistelrooy
Supporting Striker: Solsjkaer

Can anyone suggest a better formation? I'm desperate to know how to beat Arsenal. Would you believe that in a standard League match I managed to thrash them 4-0, including a stunning curling free kick from Guiseppe Rossi?

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention this is on three star

What puzzles me most is why they are just unbeatable. In exhibition matches I can usually beat them on 5* 1-0 or 2-0, and in standard League matches I can beat them quite happily (hence the 4-0 thrashing i gave them in an away match), but for some reason, just this one particular match, I just can't win. Does the CPU make opposition teams harder when you reach the higher cup stages or something?

By the way, I don't usually quit matches if I'm losing, it's just this one match I got so pissed off at my players not behaving properly (as in differently to how they normally behave when I'm playing league matches) that I felt that if the computer is going to **** me over, then I'll just keep playing until it doesn't. I have lost matches in the league and accepted it (I'm currently second in the table, with 3 losses and 5 draws to my name), and I did in fact lose the first leg of the FA cup at home 1-0 but took it like a man.

I'm playing on 3* because it's my first ever master league and I don't think I'm good enough to play on 5* or 6* and win on a consistent enough rate to avoid relegation and to qualify for the champions league. I don't want to play a career where I'm stuck at the bottom the whole time.

If you don't want to help me because I'm playing on a low skill level, then don't waste everyone's time by quoting my whole rambling post, double posting then informing me of that fact, you could just not reply at all and I would get the idea. Jesus, this is the first football game I've owned since FIFA94 on the megadrive, give me a break.

maybe if you stopped cheating and just accepted your loss and tried harder next time, then you would beat them. the computer makes it harder each time u restart so that it prevents people like you from cheating. if you cheat, the computer will cheat right back. that's just my thought.

I doubt that's the case since each time, I'm loading a save game created BEFORE I play the match, i.e each time I load it, it reverts back to the state it was in before. The game wouldn't know if I have quit the match and reloaded it. Anyway, quitting and loading a game isn't cheating; hacking the game so Rooney can fly IS cheating.

I'll just accept my loss I think, I guess what really bothered me was the fact that nothing I did could overcome Arsenal on 3*, something I have done loads of times before, on harder difficulty settings too. Just imagine how you would feel if you lowered the setting to 3* and suddenly found that nothing you did worked and some team would always beat you, despite you beating them regularly in exhibition matches on 5 or 6*

Neoptolemus, I noticed that teams become harder near cup finals too. My advice to you is: don't become annoyed. I've experienced it again and again, that when I complain a lot about how the computer wins ever ball, and seems to cheat alot, I always have a hard time. When I try to calm down and just don't give a damn if I lost this or that ball to the computer, things turn out great!

This may sound a little tacky, but it's the truth. Sometimes, I'm just doing my best to win, and don't care wether the CPU is playing fair or not, and I end up winning 4-0, 5-0 most of the times. When I get pissed at "CPU cheating" and I think to myself that I WILL show them who's boss, I can't get good results. It's like, if I take the win for granted, I won't win! Seriously, keep this in mind: don't care if you lose a ball or two. Just focus on defending and attacking the best way you can.

Think about it this way: 4-0 is a great score, and you attack like 20-30 times in a game, so you only have to score once in a while to get great scores. ;) No problem if the ball hits the bar sometimes, or if your player makes a crappy strike.

wat you just said is 100% right. this happens to me EVERY single time. if i get annoyed then i cant think straight and i just rush my attacks and try to score as fast as i can, but when i cool down, then i play smart and take my time. so the advice is.......keep cool and don't try to rush it, just play cool and you'll get better results. also don't restart, just accept the loss and motivate yourself to play better next time.

What he's said above is absolutely true. Don't let the comp get you too frustrated.

There's only one point I defer on and that's not restarting. In the beginning I always restarted on game like those you are having now because those are the games that the CPU is at it's best and it comes along only 3-4 times every ML season. So it's a rare thing to practice with and I always restarted until I got it right.

Now I don't anymore cos I got enuff practice already. I only get miffed at myself cos sometimes I didn't notice it was one of those 'super games' until all of a sudden I'm one behind in 15 mins. :(

Dude I have the same prob but its on 5* . Tell urself to slow down n play possesion football, not counter attack. Do not get frustrated, keep on attacking n u will win. Use the 4-5-1 formation ito rule the midfield.

Defenders:those u mentioned(4)

Mid: Thse u mention + a good play maker like KAka..... (5)

strikers:Van nistelrooy

This is essential if u play against tems Like real m ,AC or arsenal.
They dominate u so rule th mids and win every ball as possible .

Once ur winnin by 2 go back to 4-4-2!;)

and by 'proper' you mean a game that doesnt frustrate you, a game that once you figure out you will dominate on the highest difficulty and win everything with 3-0 or above. yup then i suggest you stay with your 'other' games then. a real football game is not for you.
