Arsenal to sell stadium name?

Arsenal may change the stadium name from Asburton Grove!

Arsenal are considering selling off the naming rights, much in the same way as Bolton did with the Reebok Stadium or Leicester with the Walkers Stadium.

The Managing director Keith Edelman said: "We would have to ask the fans - would you prefer a name that we would give the ground or would you prefer a better team?"

In my opinion i would prefer a better team. I think that Arsenal should sell the naming rights to Nike becuase Nike did say that they would like to sponser the new stadium. The new stadium could be called the Nike Stadium instead of Asburton Grove.

What do you other Arsenal Fans think about this idea?

We've already got a discussion on the Arsenal thread. Little tidbits like these aren't important enough for a proper thread, I'm afraid. Unless it is concrete that we will sell the name I don't really see the point.

And I don't want to sell the naming rights, thanks.

The Nike Stadium, what a dumb name that would be to choose, then again it'd go well with a dumb club:p

Get use to this. All new American facilities get corporate names. I think the first may have been Shafer Stadium (the old Foxboro Staduim). My father still calls it Shafer staduim, despite the fact that it hasn't been called Shafer in like 20 years.

The stadium is for all life, the good team for the money of the sponsor not. I'd never do that aberration. The stadium represents much of a team. The question is quite demagogic, a normal name doesn't mean that Arsenal would have a poor team.

If English is your second language........then :(

the point the management makes is that this stadium brings a friend named debt.
290 million.

They can name the stadium what they want if it pays the bills.
The only problem would be kit sponsorship........having a Puma kit on a home team playing in Nike Stadium might be :f***:

If it was the Nike stadium we'd be like Bolton and their Reebok stadium, we'd probley get nike sponsered kits too

it'll never be the Nike stadium...
i m pretty sure about that.

Nike is an American brand, and doesn't really have any alliegences with arsenal or london. And Football isnt their main sport.

The Reebok situation is different, the Reebok brand is English originaly, and was established in Bolton... that's why the Reebok stadium is in Bolton.

Why Arsenal don't made like Benfica and Porto? We sold the name of the four stadium sectors: "Coca-cola sector", "Sagres sector", "PT sector" and "Centenarium sector". Benfica firstly thought in sell the stadium name but refused because it would take off the identity of the stadium.
