Apperently Lehmann has played his last match for us. (It's from the sun, make what you want of that)

I guess we'll buy a keeper, or re-call Taylor.

Actually we do have the money to spend on Essien. It's just that I doubt Wenger would pay that much for him in January.

The finances have been secure so Arsenal do have money to spend. I think Wenger was given 50 million pounds for the next few years to strengthen his squad.

I believe Arsenal has the money, but according to some published reports, Wenger is hoping to wait til season's end to purchase players since the values of players during the January transfer window seem to be inflated...

^we all know he just says that to try and make his deal cheaper (i.e. im sure the reyes deal would have been more expensive if he didnt say the same last year)

Marseille claim Flamini victory

A Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling could force Arsenal's Mathieu Flamini to return to Olympique Marseille.

The CAS ruled against the midfielder's provisional £336,000 transfer from OM last summer, a move sanctioned by Fifa.

Fifa stepped in after Arsenal signed Flamini, despite former OM coach Jose Anigo believing he had a verbal agreement with the player.

But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said he did not expect the ruling would mean Flamini would have to go back to OM.

A Marseille spokesman said: "From a legal point of view, his departure was not valid, he belongs to us."

Fifa initially authorised Flamini's transfer on a provisional basis on 8 August, and then sanctioned it as a permanent move in November.

Marseille took the case to the CAS after losing Flamini for Arsenal's nominal fee.

The French club are confident the CAS will overturn Fifa's ruling, forcing Flamini to return to the Stade Velodrome where he would be sold for a sizeable sum.

A statement on Marseille's website said the CAS "recognised Fifa's decision was riddled with mistakes and those who sanctioned the move had no competence to authorize the player's transfer."

But although Wenger conceded the ruling may mean Arsenal would be forced to pay slightly more compensation, he said it did not expect it to affect Flamini's Highbury future.

"This boy was free, we have nothing to hide. The first day I met him was just before the European Championship," he said.

"He told me that his first priority was to stay at Marseille but he couldn't do so. I told him that if he couldn't find an agreement, then he should call me.

"When he called again, it was 8 July and he was in London as he'd broken relations with Marseille. He said he wanted to sign for an English club, so I said 'come and sign here'."

Fifa spokesman John Schumacher said: "Once a case goes to CAS it's out of Fifa's hands and is no longer a matter for us to comment on."

The Lausanne-based CAS was set up 21 years ago to settle sports-related disputes.

Parties in a dispute normally sign a pre-hearing agreement that any decision made by the Court is final and binding on both.

If it's a perfectly legal move then they can't complian, they should of renewed his contract, they can't go crying about losing him if they let him go for free.
