lol .. i wonder these people who say fifa is great and pes is bad ...
i mean where do you live? behind the moon? everyone can tell you the BIG difference between pes3 and fifa2004 in two minutes playing the games..
i dont understand hollowi saying pes3 is a bad port, only because his system is not able to run the game fine.. look for the requirements of the game on the konami website .. you need a directX8 graphics card (no gf2 or gf4mx!!!) and win xp (has a frame limiter - win98 doesnt have any!!) ...
inspite of all these little things i think everybody is free to play the game he wants to, so hollowi plz play fifa further and stop to post about things which you dont know good enough!:kader:

Well, just because McDonalds sells millions hamburgers each year with exactly the same look and taste, doesn't mean that it's a quality product.

I guess there are two kinds of people: those who want to be told what to do/play/eat and those who wanna find out for themselves at the 'risc' of actually enjoying themselves ;)

FIFA 2004 is more like a port, especially as there's a folder in the directory structure called "memcard"... I wonder where that comes from (H)

BTW I had some official news from Konami about the PC release date - it's 14th November...

I don't know how the final version of PES works but at the moment it seems like they gave a 12-year old geek a box of candy so he would make the port. I mean, when you push down button as fast as you can, the menus scroll only two down. Then the game... First match runs as it should, and so does the second. But the third match takes speed turns, first it runs normally, then suddenly it starts working at 150% speed. Then it surprises you by running at 75% speed. The more games are played, the more often these speed changes occur. I last saw a game running at overspeed in 1998 as I played some '87 Starwars game. Konami over 15 years beyond PC development? I had now to keep 1280x1024, AA 8x, AF 8x and nVidia presets to Quality (high performance, performance, quality, from fastest to slowest) for the first game to run decently. And if I used high quality settings in PES, no matter the resolution or anti-alias settings, it was always like the players were running in water.

FIFA, as opposite, does not have these problems. EA aren't as footballwise but at least their coding is superb. As EA provides us the notorious Creation Centre this year, those flaws can be fixed. And what comes to the \memcard, why shouldn't it be there? How hard do you think it is to make a folder called "save". It's there because the game is developed for multiple platforms and it makes developers' life easier.

I use the video card because I needed a good card in summer and as I'm going to army next summer I didn't want to buy a card I have to change.

I give you MGS, you're perfectly right there... It was impossible to play it. As most of the people don't know ISS3 for PC, it looked like a 1994 PC game and controlling the game was mostly luck. Makes you wonder what they mean by Konami's famous ability to port games. Games like MGS and ISS3? I think a better word would be infamous.

And I understand those PS2 users who say FIFA suck PES rock, because I haven't heard one good word about FIFA04 for PS2. About the control rant, I wouldn't know. I use a Logitech Dual Action and I have to tell ya it's pinpoint accuracy in FIFA, haven't used it with PES. I was overly confused with those two analogue sticks at first as I have ever played PS for half an hour or so, total, but now after some 5 hours' session of FIFA I start to have a somewhat good control of my players.

If Konami are willing to get hold of even 10% of PC football market with PES I'd say they have LOTS AND LOTS of work to do from the demo until the full version. I have not given my final call just yet but FIFA's value has grown a lot in my eyes, after horrible last year's edition and somewhat bulky demo. PES demo, however, was about as bad as FIFA03's. They will need to work 24/7 until the release if they want PES to be succesful on PC. Maybe it's time for EA to start developing a 100% PC game (which is easy to port to Box) and let Konami have the PS2 market?

As I said in EA's forum, FIFA vs PES is like Maradona (or Ronaldinho from still playing ones?) vs Nesta (ok he was the first defending defender that popped in my mind). PES is boring basic football without any flashiness, although it's basic football at its best. FIFA is a bit more flashy in everything, starting from soundtrack although it may not be as accurate in every detail.

hollowi: Boring, basic football?
If you mean that PES concentrates on the mechanics and strategies of football while FIFA's main concern is the superficial gloss of the sport then yes I agree. Boring? Far from it. I don't get the Maradona/Nesta analogy as the football you can create with PES is much more exciting than the static contrived mess that is FIFA(ok not as bad this year but still not worth bothering with).

To sort out your problems run with aa & af off at 60 hz with v-sync on(grab rivatuner) and you'll have no speed up/slow down problems, as long as windows and other drivers are up to date.

while playing first read specs, second solve the already wide known problem before you play. (This is often issue in toady's PC gaming,e.g bf 1942 requires you to a lot of issuse before you even play it). Third understand what you are downloading.

you complain is like a noob having a 386 computer and trying to play fifa 2004.

Also yes konmai is responsible for its port game, but different department is responsible for its different port game. You cant generalize.

I can also can said this from the demo knomai's value has grown a lot in my eyes, after horrible last times MGS port edition and somewhat confusing controls. PES demo, however, was different. Using the settings in windows, I dont need 30 minutes to figure which button is /_\, [ ], O, etc . I also know all the basic moves at the start of the game. Look at the fifa retail beta version. My jaws still droping what a great effort with so much fiancial support.

A load of people are trash talking PES3 on the PC just because it's a port and they still have the debacle that was ISS3 still in their minds.

ISS3 was very lousily ported over to the point where it even looked for a memory card and the game wouldn't play smoothly even on my PC. Yet PES3 on the other hand is different. OK, so the menu interface looks rather rough because of the port and the PS2 button images are still there, but in-game, it's a different ball game altogether.

Has anyone seen the UI in FIFA 2004? It's very jagged, like as if it was ported (whoops I said it again) (H)

But people don't see it that way... :(

ISS3 has DirectIP/Lan(Unlike FIFA 2004)

FIFA 2004 is just like sweetcorn(corn on the cob), it dont digest well when you go for a shit tbh.

I have my biggest doubts the foking demo we got was meant be officially released to the public. Meaning, KCET wasn't concerned with the stability issues as much as they would with the final product.

We've got all of our demo's thru this dude (thankyou dude) who's ever friend happend to have a copy of the demo. Wow, very official. (Perhaps he was a KCET rep. distributing the demo in the most subtle way... No)

Think... common sense tells you.

Wow. So it's now my bad that I have a top notch puter and Konami didn't think anyone would have anything over 1GHz Celeron and GF2 Pro? I understand the limited capability of human brain but do you really think Konami have good coders if they can't make a game work with every computer? Typical idiotism from a fanatic who cannot realise the facts. Their value has grown in my eyes too, but it's easy to grow from zero. And what do ya have to think about in those buttons? Normally, I think, you have a list of controls. I'm also horrified at PES's way to have two different settings. I choose 1280 @ windows and in the game it's suddenly 640? WTF is that? They have a lot to learn about PC business in just one month.

AcillateM's post was very constructive thanks a lot for it.

Perth, thanks for the tip. Anyhow, I won't be watching a 60hz screen because it's flickery thus it damages the eye (and is impossible to watch for more than half an hour). Konami probably know that every single half decent gamer uses higher hertz rates so they either fix it or die with it. Oh, and vsync can be turned on from Windows. I agree FIFA being a bit superficial but you must've heard about Football Fusion. TCM was pretty decent already last year and if it has any improvement it'll be great, nothing like CM4 but combined with FIFA's gameplay it'll be superb. I'm very eager to try the FF, whenever TCM is out.

If you are saying that FIFA's gameplay is superficial, then fine by me but I can't take it very seriously. I mean, the new off the ball control is just great. Only problem in it is that it's so damn accurate, you hardly ever miss a ball.

Shokz, FIFA will have Direct IP and LAN play patch, probably before the release and certainly soon after it.

JJ, as I said, FIFA's UI is made like that because it comes on several platforms. Ok it's very PS-like but it's all the same if you use the analogue stick and X button or arrow keys and enter. If you ask me, at least. It's another story if it's a big effort to get into the game.

And I don't care about how finalised the game is or isn't, as I said earlier, I haven't drawn my conclusion just yet but atm PES seems ****e.

I don't really know how "unofficial" the demo was as big gaming magazines and sites had it on their front page. Wouldn't it seem a bit odd if they were giving the demo out if it wasn't meant that way. It's all the same if they ripped the evaluation versions of the games they got and shared them on the main site... As I've heard there are some legal problems with policies like that...

And unofficial or not, they will have to hurry a lot, since the game shipment was only a month away when the demo came. Seems they have a lot of coding still left. Also they will need to learn a lot about computer gaming business.

By the way, who of you (Especially AcillateM) has even played FIFA's PC full version?

Tell us how much EA have paid you to say that, because from what I make of your statement, it sounds very biased.

Your comment about the UI in FIFA is utter nonsense - FIFA 2003's UI was fine, no jagged images anywhere, and that game was made on all platforms, so you can't pull a fast one over my eyes, I've seen it all before.

Notice how FIFA 2004's UI is navigated mostly with a control pad, and that the mouse pointer looks as if it was drawn in M$Paint... it has the words "PS2 Port Over" written all over it.

Another one who's taking it up the backend from EA.
I was eating spuds with some beans for my dinner earlier and them beans had more intelligence between them than you have in your entire, thick, clogged up brain of yours.

WHSmith were selling it early, I got it yesterday, copied it, took it back today. :ewan:

Bloody shocking, I'm still recovering from the excitement of walking back into WHSmith to get my refund, the girl at the till werent there today, the rep behind the desk gave me a funny look though as if they were not supposed to sell it?, well I know where to get my games a few days earlier in the future then. :ewan: They did the same thing Championship Manager 4 the week that was due out, sold it 2 days before its actual release. :)

JJ yea as I said, I don't care if it's controlled with gamepad or keyboard. AS LONG AS IT WORKS. Unlike PES's.

i seriously dont get all these eternal arguments
if you play both games you'll just see that pes3 is quite simply the better game
if you dont like it or if you are a masochist or something play fifa... if you cant save replays or redefine controls, its ok, these are features
