Depends on the individual i suppose. Read about one of the Malaysian cyclists who has chosen to only start fasting after his event has been completed.

Heard during the commentary in one of the UAE football matches that some chose to fast due to personal religion preferences and that you're allowed not to fast if you're travelling which they technically are, not too sure about this.

From personal experience, folks who are bent on using 'African American", are more often than not, those who are most uncomfortable being around Black people.

Yeah, this is something I've asked my mom about too because she does it. I think it's just the way that people 35-60 were taught the same way you'll hear old people say negro. The thing that is weird to me is that when someone who normally says black will say "african american" when they're doing something professional.
