Gymnastics --> not a sport. It is a form of entertainment. It is NOT a sport. It should definitely not be in the Oylmpics.

Swimming --> I just don't like this sport.

Synchronized Diving/Swimming --> Just like gymnastics, this is a form of entertainment.

Road Cycling ---> the best cyclists compete in the Tour de France EVERY year. Why should I care about Olympic cycling if I get to watch the best in the world every year? When you think of cycling, you think of the yellow jersey. You do NOT think of gold. Unless you're talking about indoor cycling, which has ZERO level of difficulty.

Shot Put/Discus ----> Man throws heavy ball/disc. What else does he do?............Nothing else? Isn't that part of his regular gym routine? I mean if he does this every day while he is in training, in the gym, then there is nothing special about this at all.

Weight Lifting ---> Is this really a sport? Same as above.

Olympic Football/Soccer ---> Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! No.

-----------------------X---------------------------

I will only be watching 9.7 seconds of the Olympics + 2 minutes before that and 2 minutes after that.

Ièm sorry but if some judge tells you that you twisted in the air 17 times and the other guy tiwsted in the air 16.5 times so you get 7.2 and he gets 7.1......that is rubbish!

That is a form of entertainment like ballroom dancing or skateboarding.

It applies to all gymnastics events, all diving events and any other event that involves a judge telling you how good you are. That is not a sport. There is no clear cut evaluation system.

I mean, if runner A crosses the line in 19.52 seconds and runner B crosses the line in 19.59 seconds then is runner B going to ask for the gold medal because he ALSO crossed the line in less than 19.6 seconds. NO! That is a spott. There is only one way to win.

100m is always the most exciting event at the Olympics. Realistically I hope Gay just makes it onto the medal stand, but if you're right about Bolt not training very hard then Tyson has a legit shot at the gold.

Right now, I think Tyson's best chance at a medal is bronze. Yohan Blake is a beast and is rounding into fearsome form. Bolt says he is at 95% today and will be ready when the time comes. It is going to be one of the most exciting 9.x seconds seen in recent times!

Personally, I think Blake is going to wipe the floor with Usain Bolt. Bolt is injured. He has lost his arrogance. He stands no chance. At 100%, he could have rebounded from that double defeat he suffered just a few weeks ago. At anything less than 100%, hes hoping that Blake slips up.

It is Yohan Blakeès race to lose. Boltès moment in the sun has come and gone. Kind of like Asafa Powell.

As far as the Americans go, I think that Jsutin Gatlin has intentionally not shown his hand. Ièm expecting him to surprise a few people. He can beat Tyson Gay.

Anyway, that was simultaneously the best and the worst opening ceremony there has ever been....

Cauldron was awesome. Videos were tacky as hell. Opening was just ridiculously british, even with cows and sheep and people playing county cricket, the rest of the world must have been thing "what the ****!?"

Opening ceremonies:

a. last a few hours

b. consist of music, talking and dancing.......nothing to do with sports

c. attract the fake sports fans - the kind that start puttign up flags and calling themselves World up enthusiasts every four years. In reality, such individuals know nothing about that or (most likely) any other sport. They sicken me to my very core. They have that luxury, I guess. I let them get away with it, despite knowing fully well their level of incompetence in regards to all things sports. I just call them fake and laugh on the inside.

d. a waste of time for persons that want to watch/follow sports (let's call a spade a spade.....if I don't give 2 ****s about the laetst music or boybands from the UK or Florida, why would I care about some glorified rock concert at a SPORTING event!!!

e. only make for good photo opportunities - 62 years from now, there is a picture of the athelete lighting the flame......no one cares about the 23 bands that performed or the 72 dignitaries that talked about the Olympics making the world a better place.

Really kind of you. It's a good thing you are kind enough to let them get away with it, otherwise the whole thing might fall apart when you do whatever it is you do to stop them getting away with it.

Actually, I bet that there are a ton of very deserving people in London, Athens, Beijing, Atlanta, Vancouver, Salt Lake City, Saatcchi who will not care about the Olympics because it just doesn't improve their lives.

The Olympics aren't there to improve a single thing.

Of course it improves some things. Whether it was worth the time and money we as a country spent on it, I am not so sure, but it's done now so might aswell get as much out of it as possible.

Not sure why you're doubting Gay. He's the second fastest man ever. Blake and Powell haven't run sub 9.70.

Gay had an operation and has not fully tested it, hasnt raced as much as he would have liked lately and does not know what his body will do post-op. Blake is the only one who is fully fit. If Bolt is only 95% fit he will still win (but no WR), if he is only 85% then Blake will win.

Didn't watch the ceremony so I wouldn't know - are they actually going to leave the flame in the middle of the field? If so, I can't wait to see some burning javelins, lol.
