I have just watched a video clip of EA's Road To The World Cup! You have to see the graphics to believe them ! Jaw dropping ...

But as I watch them kick off (England v Germany) the ball physics, the player animation the lot ! You may as well have been watching ingame footage of FIFA06 , because the only difference I could see from this clip was the nect gen 350 graphics !!

I just hope that when PES come out on the 360, its not next gen graphic update of PES5 !

But that Gameplay/AI get the next gen touch as well.

I had seen a video of one of these game shows E3 (is it?) and one of the devs was asked about the gameplay AI of the "Next Gen Consoles". He said that AI was one of the hardest and most time consuming bits about making a game.

He said that instead of wasting a lot of dev time on creating next gen AI (time means money) in games , you could have a work around, where you had random things happen in games, that made it look as though the AI was much smarter!

Next Gen in graphic terms mean a big leap forward, but will that include a big leap in Gameplay/AI too ??????

I think I will hold back on the next gen thing for a while yet! If you look at the Xbox, it was the most powerful console built. And while some of the games used its power and you could be dazzled by Dead Or Alive and game like it , the xbox had some rank games in terms of graphics, even though it was the most powerful console out there ...

And if gamemakers , couldn't or wouldn't use the power in the xbox (DOA to name on great looking game) then I can see the same with the 360!

well it seems all the sports games that have been released on the current gen consoles and that are going also to be on next gen, the only real upgrade to these games are with the graphics... so if the next pes/we is also going to be for current gen systems then i would think the same... i am sure with all 2007 games they are not just going to be a graphical upgrade, but a general upgrade... atleast i hope

also i am sure with next gen games they will have a lot more options and what not to work with in every department when it comes to making a game even with the AI... i am sure we are going to see some great games espechally sports games with the AI being and playing very realistic

and with XBOX being the most powerful console this gen... yes, that is true on paper... but there are games for PS2 and Gamecube that have top notch graphics comparable to the best looking xbox game... for example... have you seen metal gear solid 3 : snake eater for ps2? great graphics... and how about resident evil 4 for the gamecube? great graphics

i believe the we/pes which will be release on 360 will be we10/pes6. so, i expect there will be improvement on gameplay and graphics instead of direct port from pes5

Don't worry. The PES/WE series will still be the top rated soccer game worldwide from Xbox 360. I find it FIFA 06 RTWC will be the best series for FIFA too. I'm amazed too !

Love the competition from EA & Konami these days.

The gameplay is subjective. i saw the same vid and thought there WERE differences to fifa 06 on the PS2(my only comparison)
First off the ball ROLLS on a much realler surface. It shows the balls going through the grass as opposed to just skidding over it. That alone helps the ball physics look and fell. the player movements an animations again. because the visuals have been improved they player model stabnd up straigher and lokk to have more believable posture THUS making the anmiations all the more real. remeber these animations are captured by actual players. i bet the current gen couldn't capture all the animations that were done for Fifa 06. i know they used those same new animations BUT thanks to the graphical power of the 360 those animations now make sense.
I only hope the that the flow of the game allows for more easier wing breakways. from the looks of it NO.
as far as goal shooting i think they should have implemented WE9's control into the game. i don't think that would have taken so much time for a simple tweak to be made to that. At least a start to more accurate and real feeling shots on goal could have happened. it's hard to tell from that video thoguh.

Well ...yes it can be the best FIFA ever made. (not so difficult indeed!)

But talking about gameplay, from the video I see it basically got the same physics of FIFA06. As i said in the other thread about Next Gen. consoles,
I really hope it won't be just a step forward in graphic, but gameplay too.

I don't buy a game if it's only graphic and poor AI. What for?
If they think to cheat people just with supercool graphic they are wrong...
or maybe eheh they found the key :nape:

Maybe instead of creating Super GPU videocards
they should consider creating also AIPUs to make games a real challenge! :rockman:

actually, improving over PES/WE is hard and PES5 (judging from the demo) is already great.
If PES6 has as much significant changes as PES5 had, but with next gen X360 graphics I'll be more than happy.
however I think the changes this time will be more significant than just that.

No doubt from that vid that it is pretty much a port over of the Fifa 06 gameplay, however, it seemed to me players had more animations to them and if you watch what the ball does when it hits the netting, that is something that never happens in 06. I would like to see at least a 5 minute vid to get a better impression.I understand fromt hose wh played the demo at X05 found the controls to be more responsive..a big minus in the PS2/Xbox versions of 06.

As for WE next-gen, Konami has probably had the xbox 360 dev kits since early fall (maybe earlier) so they will probably have improvements to the gameplay by the release of the game next fall, as games keep getting more complex and larger, teams have to hire more people to the staff to oversee all these changes. Where maybe 10 people worked on FIFA 94, you now need 200+ for a next-gen title (very rough guesstimation).

In the meantime, there were rumors at X05 (read it on www.xbox.com I believe) that PES5/WE9i will possibly be backwards compatible with the 360 as they were presenting that game at the show

The problem with the initial next gen titles is the time it takes to create a whole new generation of AI compared to the easy option of keeping the same generic gameplay for the first release but simply updating the graphics. FIFA RTWC 06 looks to play the same as FIFA 06 but the graphics blow you away. If Konami keep the same gameplay but make graphics that blow you away, the game will awesome because let's face it, the slowdown, lack of crowds, no functional speed control slider, crappy graphics for the crowds, etc. all need changing. Konami have a lot more to gain from a graphical upgrade than FIFA because the Konami gameplay is already top notch barring a few tweaks here and there.

If Konami can't improve those graphical issues with a next gen. console then there's no point buying a XBox360/PES3 just for PES/WE because I think there's little that needs to be done in terms of AI that can't just be achieved with better programming on the existing consoles. Less dumb fouling, reduce the power of headers & shots, more realistic goalkeepers and I don't think there's much to improve on PES5 other than the graphics. (Obviously the licenses but that ain't gonna happen!)

I got FIFA06 and ok Ive got an old TI4200 128mb card P4 1GbDDR, but "I" think the PES graphics are better, the players anyway! ps that card still gets SHIII and Lock On and Pacific Fighters looking good (and LO and PF are flight sims)!

But onto gameplay and AI for next gen, I was watching a video earlier (gametrailers.com) about the xbox360 and talking to a gamedev about kameo (I think) well a battle scene had thousands of trolls in it and the dev said each one had its own AI, and thats not including the elf army! SO I would think that it would be very simple to give 22 players and 4 officals there own "realtime" AI !

As the game dev said of his own game, each individual troll will act independent of the one next to him! But in the heat of battle if his mate start to run, so will he ! Added to this was talk about not only acting but reacting to what was happening all around.

So I am very excited by this AI development and I can see the 360 PES and then the PS3 one, where you will have your team mates acting and reacting to what is happening around them! The dev said that in the past all the battle scenes would have been scripted, but now with the cores 1 would process AI the other Physics and so on, I am sure to the animation they will be able to bring to each player should give each of them , near life like abilities..

I can wait !

I think FIFA 06 RTWC and the follow-on FIFA 06 WC will attract many people with their
great graphics for sure.....
BUT...I think Konami will have enough time to enhance the graphics AND improve the already great gameplay on XBOX 360 by the latter part of 06.

First round will go to FIFA....but PES/WE will win the 2nd round on the next-gen consoles.

One point though, the first Konami soccer release for the XBox360 and PS3 isn't scheduled until late 2006, and that's just in Japan. At first it was announced that a title would be available for the XBox360 early Spring/Summer 2006 but now this isn't going to happen. This means that Europe won't get a PES title until Spring 2007 for a next gen. console and it will more than likely be Summer 2007 before North American gets a Winning Eleven International title.

This obviously means that the next WE/PES will be normal console releases again and I guess the ironically titled Winning Eleven Eleven will be the first version we get to play on the XBox360/PS3.

So, we still have another 18 months before we see a next gen. version of PES and almost two years before we get a WE:International version for North America.

For a company that likes ot push out 4 versions of the same game each year, this sure is a slow timeline!!!!

Well it all depends on what you prefer.

a) Playing 6 rushed games with unpolished gameplay.
b) Playing an already excellent game in PES5/WE9 and waiting for a PES6/WE10 that's polished and optimized for next gen gaming.

Bottom line:EA may release more games, but Konami releases quality.
