360 vs. PS3 vs. Wii

Wii is tempting for many people. Pricewise it's good, that controller looks like fun and with the PS3 nowhere in site and the 360 pricier, it's a good move. PS3 have a problem on their hands. This is the first time that PS's future looks uncertain...for sure.

Yesterday I went to EB Games and they had a demo PS3 with that Motocross game. Some kids were playing that game and all of the sudden the PS3 froze (H)

Interesting facts from IGN.com:

360 Leads Holiday Sales
But Nintendo was right on Microsoft's heels.
by Daemon Hatfield
January 2, 2007 - According to preliminary NPD data, the Xbox 360 was the best-selling console during the holiday season in the U.S. CNBC is reporting that Americans picked up two million units of Microsoft's system during the period.

But Nintendo was not far behind. In spite of limited availability, the Wii sold 1.8 million units from its launch until December 25. Sony only moved approximately 750,000 units of the PlayStation 3, due to manufacturing problems and decreased demand. Over the holidays, IGN repeatedly found PS3s available at retailers while no Wiis were in sight. The price of a PS3 on eBay has also dropped to around its MSRP, while the Wii is still selling for over twice its retail price.

NPD expects to release complete sales data for the holiday season later this month.

I fully expected this to happen. The PS3 came out with some s*itty launch titles that had already been out on the 360 and not only that but the price was way higher than both the Wii and the 360. Why would anyone with half a brain even bother to buy a PS3 now? This is exactly why I'm waiting until at least next Christmas to get a PS3. However if the games don't improve then I'll be inclined to get a 360, as much as I hate the XBOX, I will buy it over the PS3 if I don't see better games coming out for it.

I plan on getting the PS3, maybe, maybe in 2 years or 3. Depends on the price and the games. I am open to any system. I first hated the original xbox (designwise & I already had PS2) but a friend gave me one for a few months since he was heavily into his PC gaming and Half Life 2 totally made it worthwhile. Never a huge fan of MS but I was totally sold on 360. Great move on my part. Just remain objective and choose that way and you'll see which system makes the most sense. Things that sold me on 360 are:

1. The games (especially exclusives)
2. Xbox Live (gaming will never be the same to me without it)
3. Fantastic controller (perfect for shooters, rumble, very ergonomic, big big improvement over shiity xbox controller)
4. Price. (Originally planned on waiting for PS3 but as price and news came out little by little on the PS3, I knew the smart choice would be the 360 as things are only getting better for 360).

Brought a 360 right after xmas in the sales. I was some what reluctant to part with the cash but it has proven to be a worthy investment. Right now i'm hooked on R6 Vegas on live, fantastic game.

Only downer is that the console has crashed twice in the past week due to overheating. Perhaps my fault as the console wasn't getting very good ventilation sat so close to the PC.

My 360 was manufactured on May 2006 so I guess I lucked out on the bad launch batches. I keep mine vertical and well ventilated. I play for 5-7 hours at a time and never felt it get really hot. So far so good. Don't stuff it into an entertainment center. I hear R6 Vegas is amazing. Must try that soon. Did you get a package deal with a free game? It's the way to go as far as consoles go now!

Apparantly that's actually supposed to happen, to stop people just sitting in a shop and playing it all day.

i know a couple of people with a Wii who have been playing the fishing game, and have accidentally thrown the wireless controller at the Tv screen and smashed it... picture that, lots of damage

don you mean fools? but yes, i never said it was a technical fault with the Wii itself, merely a silly thing to do...
