duh! hence all the suprise at Zed making the final ... but don't underestimate the fat guy -- he's extremely quick over very short distances; the Senegaliens and the Ghanese found that out first hand ...

Now I'm even more shocked because I thought I was kidding! I assumed they were coaches! What the hell is going on in Gabon!?

Oh so they tried really hard because their national team bretheren died about 20 years ago and the final will be played on the coast where the plane fell?

Ps. I expect 64 astrologically aligned reps for mentioning God's word before the thread turned to the spiritual discussion of life, death, and God. aka the real holy trinity

I disagree with the assessment of the photo. You've got a beastly looking pornstar looking brother, compact with strength and agility. The fat guy can be played in the middle where he doesn't need to beat anyone on pace and can just hammer his gut into opposing players... Imagine the 260 pound man smashing his gut against your average foorballer's thin frame.

The guy in the suit is the professor, he is a great mastermind captain that commands the field. He has the grace of Henry with a Zidane mindset. The white man is a Zico clone, he obviously wins all games for you because Zico is arguably the greatest midfielder.

The guy with the fade top is the drone, the centre back that does what is needed. And the guy on the right is the Anelka - Vieira clone, he has the most unbelievably unpredictable, yet consistent combination of personality.

Haha I do have to give you legitimate congratulations xifio.

I guess I have to support CIV cos of Didier, but the underdog lover in me would love to seem a Zambian fairy tail

I'm cheering for the Ivory Coast :(

I don't like it when a weak side wins a title no matter what it is. I always want the best team to win.

Yeah, of all the African teams the Ivory Coast seems to be the one most likely to mount a serious World Cup campaign (maybe Ghana also), and it would be great to see an African team fly high in Brazil 2014, so winning this tournament might be a great boost for them for the next two years.

Watching the game off a stream. Close game so far. Ivory Coast haven't had too many chances, Zambia trying to play the counter...

Wow, Drogba really ****ed up with that penalty. But all in all, such a close game. Probably fair that it was decided by penalties.

Congratulations Zambia and xifio, a quite extraordinary win.

But I also have to say, I found the spirit in which the game was played and the scenes afterwards to be extremely moving - Drogba may have thrown the game, but the way he was encouraging his own team and also constantly picking up and congratulating and laughing and joking with opposition players was a model of everything it means to captain your international side. Also, the way the two goal keepers hugged after that fifth penalty, at the most tense moment, brought a tear to my eye, and the emotion of the Zambian celebrations and that poser manager was really something.

So yeah, a great advert for football.

But I must admit it did grate a bit to see Sepp Blatter handing out the medals. I had managed to forget how much I hate that guy until tonight.
