2012 African Cup of Nations

I don't know much about the domestic conditions of Zambia, but I can't imagine your players have had half their family killed by government funded paramilitary groups. A loss would be very embarrassing.

yeah, Zed's amazingly peaceful (no joke) ...

but it would be embarrassing to lose to a team that, until they equalized vs. Angola, hadn't scored a goal at an Africa Cup for 36 years! and until yesterday, hadn't won a game at an Africa Cup for 42 years!

I would like to go to Zambia.

How the hell have Sudan got so far? They've just had half their country taken away. Was that the bad footballing half?

Zambia 3 - 0 Sudan

Three goal wins are rare in this tournament.... especially in the knockout stages..... could Zambia be dark horses for the trophy?

Xifio

The Von Trapps
in the immortal words of Eddie Izzard: ""Heyyy! We f*cking won! Threee nillll!"

Kalaba shone again, and Chamanga showed there's some depth there off the bench with the best goal of the night ... but the scoreline is still flattering ... Sudan dominated towards the end of the first half and the start of the second, but the defence and/or Mweene stood firm ... guess it's good not to have peaked in the quarters, before the real big test in the semis (which, I admit, was a worry I had before the match) ...

---

so, two wins versus western opposition, a draw against a northern side, and 3 goals in the quarters versus an Arab nation ... hmmm, now where have I seen that before? oh yeah! 1996! guess that means it'll be Tunisia in the semis ...

or good basketball half

Gabon is knocked out by Seydou Keita's Mali and will face Côte d'Ivoire. I hope Tunisia knocks Ghana out today I just don't want to see them win the cup this year.

just this year?

I really wanted the Carthaginians to progress, if only for Zed to have a shot at rewengie (yeah, Blackadder reference) for the semifinal loss in '96 ... but their goddamn keeper pulled a Čech, and that was that ...

with Ghana in the semis, at least the favourites and the underdogs are clear for all to see, and there will be no complacency in the Zambian camp ...

I don't expect we'll see Xifio until tomorrow night after he gets blitzed and then sleeps off the hangover.

How'd be xifio drunk? Do you think he try to seduce bitches with Cassano, mou and calcio stories?

...you are as sexy as Zlatan karate kicking a teammate, as courageous as Cassano, and as brilliant as Rinus Michaels.

hah, when was that? surely you mean 'the wave of antagonism against' ...

the team arrived in Gabon, and immediately conducted a sombre remembrance ceremony for the most talented Zambian national team, lost in 1993:

the team perished in plane crash just off the coast of Libreville, Gabon (where the final will be played) ...
