I want van der Vaart to start ... Sneijder, who has been in excellent goalscoring form, is not (and never has been) as good a distributor of the ball as Raffie, and thus isn't that classic #10 who can cleave open the opposition with killer passes ... I don't mean to imply that Sneijder should be benched, but that van der Vaart should start in the middle as the classic #10, with Sneijder allowed the freedom of being a shoot-on-sight midfielder ...

both Spain and Holland will want to possess the ball, and Sneijder is too direct with his approach to be the focal point of passing interchanges that would see the Dutch maintain the lion's share of possession ... Xavi is that man for Spain; Raffie should be that man for Holland ...

I would bench Van Persie (who has been poor up front, and whose only goal was ironically assisted by none other than van der Vaart), and have Kuyt working hard up front ... Sneijder would start on the left, van der Vaart in the middle, and of course Robben on the right ... as the match progresses, all 4 forward players can mix and match their positions for a fluid formation up front ...

I can't see Van Marwijk being that bold, but that is what I think would allow Holland to control possession, and score first -- two keys to win the match ...

Van Marwijk is never going to change things around. He doesn't like doing that and moreover there's no reason too. It will be the same eleven players that played Brazil to start the match.

hmm.. I think it will a boring game .. much midfield work & at the last third a team (most probably Spain) will score the winning goal.

Netherlands 0-1 Spain

Today's the big day, i believe third time's a charm. Spain are the favourites and are being talked about as if their name is already on the trophy but i believe the Oranje can do it. Hup Holland Hup!!!!!

I hate Spain. It's like they keep possession just for the sake of keeping possession. It's the opposite of attractive football. It's almost like they aren't interested in attacking at all.

Would have been a farce had that ball bounced over Casillas into the goal.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the Dutch

Starting XI
Spain's way of constantly being in possession of the ball is so frustrating to watch for a neutral. After dozens of passes from which some are unnecessary, they eventually pass their way to the last quarter of the pitch only to pass it all the way back if there is no clear opening. It almost looks like a cloaked form of antifootball..

Pf, boring game.
Sadly, one came to play, and the other one just to fouling over and over again.
I wanted holland to win, but after seeing this orange butchers on the field they don't deserve the victory, sad to see teams with long tradition like Brazil and Holland plays so pitiful kind of play just with the objective of win.

Casillas has bailed out Spain several times now. Robben should have had two goals by now.

Edit: Robben is a ******* prick.

Um... like it or not, Puyol made a red card worthy challenge.
