I actually thought the referee did a great job. If it was some other ref he would have given away red cards/penalties too soon and it would have ruined the game. I thought he let a tough game happen but he made good decisions.

Even if the ref was already gonna book Heitinga that fact the Iniesta had the do his imaginary card waving was pathetic that little **** i hate for life.

Heartbroken but it was a great run can't ask for more. Real classy guard of honour by the Dutch will always support them.

Also reflected how most of this tournament went, dour football, horrible shooting, mediocre officiating, and VUVUZELAS galore.

Big win for Dutch total football, the team that abandoned it were punished, Spain have Johan Cruyff's influence to thank for their big success.

Big win for octupuses all over the world, Paul > overpaid human football pundits

And also great result for the only team in this world cup to remain undefeated....... NEW ZEALAND. Take that b*tches. (H)

Wished it was Germany lifting the cup, but I think their time will come soon enough. Can't begrudge the Spaniards a deserved victory.

Yeah Casillas didn't make a single important save throughout the tournament/final.

This was in some ways an ugly game, but I don't think it was nearly the atrocity some people are making it out to be. There were exciting parts where both teams had chances and it often kept me, a neutral, on the edge of my seat. Congrats to Spain, enjoy it.

Casillas has been tremendous for Spain in just about every tournament he's played in, and he has been guarding their posts for over 10 years now, but they had never come close to winning anything until just 2 years ago, and that is due to the resurgence of Barca in a major way. Credit where credit's due
