Your from New Jersey,

So? If you're implying people from here are dumb(which you probably are, see told you I'm not that dumb), at least I can take consolation from the fact that the state I live in(unlike yours, apparently)educates us in the proper usage and difference of the word your and the contraction you're. But hey, teaching good grammar is for stupid states like New Jersey anyway. The residents of New Jersey are no match in the intellectual department to...wait where are you from? I didn't see any clue in your profile as to where you're(see what I did there?)from, so I have to assume the place you live in sucks and that you are ashamed to reveal it for fear of being laughed at. I must commend you though, it's a good way to cover your ass from a lame and easy attack on the internet.

do you really want me to answer this?

Yes, I'd very much like a response from you. I've been desperately pondering what your serious response was to my post. Please, bring me closure.

That's because the USA didn't have to play South Korea in the first knockout round.

And what about '06, where you guys got knocked out in the group stages, and Italy won the whole damn thing? Bruce Arena was in charge then too, right? I like how you conveniently left out that small detail.

Yes, I conveniently left that out. Because clearly that's all that matters. And no we didn't have to play South Korea (oh no, not South Korea!!), we only had to play our biggest historic rival, followed by the runner up of the competition who we outplayed.

That's the one where we had nine men and still drew with Italy, right? Then we got screwed by a call in the Ghana match and Grosso dived against Australia?

The South Korea thing might sound lame, but they were buoyed by their fanatical home fans, and having Guus is certainly a boost. It also helps when the referee's decisions go your way. I'll address the rest later.

Yup. It's also the tournament where Materazzi got sent off against Australia for tackling his own teammate, Zambrotta, and where France were rewarded a penalty against Italy after Malouda dived. What's your point?

Lol. By that Logic South Africa should have beat Spain.

How do you know? I don't watch hockey, we'll need a more appropriate picture.

Are South Africa coached by Guus? Did South Africa have favorable decisions go their way in a World Cup against Italy and Spain? How did you see a parallel between South Korea of '02 and South Africa of '09? They're two completely different situations.

Their fans you ******* idiot. Look at the context around my statement. Jesus Christ, maybe that random dude was right questioning your education.

You just went for a convenient excuse like "oh, of course we lost to South Korea, they were boosted by their fanatic fans!" We both know that's bull**** and I called you out on it. Then you throw out a bunch of other excuses that you never raised before and ask me where the parallels are between the newly raised excuses and my response to your first excuse. That's stupid.

I thought it was common knowledge that South Korea's matches against Italy and Spain were under a huge cloud of controversy and suspicion ...

anyone who watched the South Korea-Italy match, and then the South Korea-Spain match cannot be faulted for suspecting something fishy with the officiating -- i.e. bribery by South Korea of the officials ...

Byron Moreno, who refereed the South Korea-Italy match, has a notorious track record following the World Cup ... he has had to serve multiple suspensions from his capacity as a referee for erratic and inexplicable refereeing decisions, as well as falsification of facts in his match reports ... he was eventually forced to prematurely retire from officiating ... to suggest that the man was corrupt is a more likely explanation than saying the man had multiple years of dementia on the pitch ...

Gamal Al-Ghandour (the referee in the South Korea-Spain match) had a similar story, though he did not serve suspensions as Moreno did ... he too had to prematurely retire from officiating ...

I wouldn't put it beyond FIFA to not try to dig deeper -- not in public anyway -- so as to avoid irreparable embarassment ...

before trying to argue back about the possible bribery scandal involving South Korea at the 2002 World Cup, watch the matches I've mentioned again, or some extended highlights ...

Rocky, its a soccer post, put your high school English book away and relax. I'm from DC but live in Tampa,FL, its a nice place, about 92 degrees today and not a cloud in the sky. Now go do your homework.

Now how would that formation look?? I'm guessing that Stallone is a defender, in which case, I would put Arnold before him. Norris for me would be a striker, he would terrorize their defense. :sKIp_E:. O'Reilly looks like a holding midfielder along side obama.

Stallone is the goalkeeper. Haven't you seen "Glory"? Here's what I was thinking:

-----------Stallone-----------

-----Rumsfeld-----Artest-----
--Nugent------------Ariaga II--

------------O'Reilly------------
---Keith--------------Obama---
------------Pizozza------------

-----Norris--------Klinsmann----

Well we know Rumsfeld is all about DEFENSE, I don't know about Bill O and Obama being able to work together though.

I meant "Victory" by the way, not "Glory". If they had pulled off a soccer game in a Civil War movie, that would have been even more impressive.

You might want to think again if O'Reilly and Obama can play in the same team.

Hadn't heard of "Victory" before, but have just added it to me netflix Queue. By the way, by the looks of the quick preview i saw... Stallone was awful in that first half and on that first goal, the ball went off side before the german player crossed it :browsmiley:,

Stallone is actually an awful goalkeeper in that movie, even though he's supposed to be the hero. He refused to be coached and ended up dislocating his shoulder and breaking two ribs during filming. As bad as the movie is, it's an absolute must-see. Cult favorite.
