the brazilian league overall is weaker than the top european leagues. the national team comparison isnt relevant, because most of those players dont play in Brasil.
mentioning the club world championship is silly too, because to most european teams its nothing more than an annoying tournament which adds unnecessary games during the season.

The quality of the league is not even debatable, La liga is arguably the best league in the world with the Premiership and Seria A being the only other points of comparison. You said it, the best Brazilians leave Brazil as soon as they can to Europe, namely la liga, Serie A; Bundesliga...etc...so, the league argument is mute in my opinion....however as far as individual quality, as much as many of my European friends might hate it, the fact is that Brazilian players are generally speaking better individual players than many Europeans, if that was no true then stop hiring South American players in the top clubs and see how they do....Notice I said, INDIVIDUALS, I always have believed that European players are better team players...

ill just say this , brazilians , argentines etc... make la liga , el calcio etc.. what they are now, and that's not debatable either.... plus if you guys ask me i really think we are making an unfair comparison, mainly because of the economic crisis from alot of S.A clubs and S.A leagues, if any of the south american leagues could have the infrastructure of the european clubs , we would signing a whole diferent song, its no coincidence the mls and the mexican league is growing so fast footbally speaking, they are the rischest leagues in america by far, even surpassing some of the european leagues....

i really think individualy S.A players are better that european ones , the facts are there, at club level the comparison is just unfair really casue there's alot of things we need to take on account, but yes, european clubs are better than the S.A clubs in paper that is, cause cups like the intercontinental and the new club world cup have shown us that in the field its otherwise....

Its very debatable when you consider Italy are the champions of the world. The last world cup final was even between two European teams. There are plenty of outstanding European players, C.Ronaldo is arguably the best in the world, and he is from Portugal. The top strikers are generally from Europe. Ruud, Rooney, Klose, Henry, Shevchenko, Raul, Luca Toni. Alot of Madrids players are European, Ramos and Cannavaro are both European mega stars in defence. I think right now, South America only has a few outstanding players in the world. After Ronaldinho the list of amazing players slows down a bit.

of course , but listen to what your saying , your talking about players from the rischest and well structured clubs, but what about for example the modest clubs , those teams that have put la liga were it is now, like sevilla, getafe, osasuna, espanyol, villarreal almost every of those teams their key players are S.A..... barca and madrid not only make la liga, like inter and milan dont only make the calcio, even so its ironic how barca, inter , madrid, have dozens of S.A's in their rosters, plus its a miss logic your using cause its obvious european clubs will have more european players i mean duh, still thats my point they are outgaining the southamericans 2 to 1 and still the S.A players are the ones that shine the most...

btw, imo kaka is the best player in the world right now.... but i think we already had that debate before so haha.

Everybody chooses who they think the best player is...some are not even based on stats or anything...I could say Del Piero is the best player in the world right now and who is gonna change my mind? (I don't think that btw)...I mean just b/c he's saying that C. Ronaldo is the best player in the world it doesn't mean he is. He is basing on favoritism imo.

It's not favoritism, 2 seasons ago I was in the belief that Ronaldinho was the best, hands down. But C.Ronaldo became so much better last year, while Ronaldinho stood still I felt. It's all something you could argue about all day, Big al brought up some very valid points, it might be that the line between S.A and Europe, is more vague than we think.

Playerwise I think it's too close to call. Lets see, C.. Ronaldo, Ruud, Casillas, Cannavaro, Totti, Henry, Van Persie, Rooney, etc. vs. Ronalpinhos, Messi, Forlan, Higain, Ronaldo, etc.. Now, leaguewise, EPL, La Liga, serie A vs. Brasil, argentina, Mexico? That's pretty clear as to what leagues (euro vs. american) are better.

Well lively debate; I figure we agree to disagree.....

Sneijder who was supposed to be out for today's match against albania, played that is good news for us...Van Nistelroy had a bad game kind of missing out on some chances...but then, clutch as usual strikes in the 91st minute...amazing goal btw....

As far as the starting 11 versus Almeria it looks like it is going to be, everybody that played against Villareal except for Drenthe who will be replaced by Heinze...
