Alright, post game analysis....


Not a good game by any standards but player by player here is how we looked.

Casillas-Had a couple of fumbles and had a bad clearance, that almost cost us, other than that the usual

CBs- Cannavaro was responsible for the goal really, he was AWOL from the scene and Uche capitalized, we should be fortunate that Negredo didnt play I think he would have murdered us...Metzelder looked descent for the most part, he is just a good player all around.


RB/LB- Ramos didnt really have a lot of freedom at all, he had very little motion down the right, instead he was busy in a dogfight with Crusat, so he was glad when Crusat was sent off...Heinze and Drenthe were mediocre at best truth is Almeria didnt really exploit that side...

Robihno/Diarrah- Too hasty with the passes for both of these guys. Robihno in particular had like zero mobility...hence he was replaced...he kept switching with diarrah as the DM, dont really know why..it didnt make a difference.

Guti-Was absent for most of the game, he did get a few ball here and there but was nowhere near what he was the first two games I believe that was a big reason for our poor performance...

Sneijder- Again out best player, anytime the ball went thru his feet speed was added, he scored the go ahead goal and well, he just put the ball in play...If we are going to win any titles this year this man will need to be our field marshall, and he has proven his worth tremendously...

Saviola/Raul- Raul actually didnt have a terrible game, but wasnt the force of the previous two. his shot was the one that bounced and resulted in saviola's goal. Saviola had little mobility and looked dead at times, but he did have short burst of speed, which could threaten to change the pace of the game..

Higuain-He was incisive and derserved his goal in spite of the short time on the pitch...

Overall I rate us a C+. We did what we had to, to win, but it was more like a draw in my books. and the ref did help on that one play. I think the international stoppage hurt us, but I expect the chemistry to be back up by the time we face off against Valladolid who looked very poor against Valencia.....Werder Bremen, will have to be a game to put it all back together for Schuster...

yeah, not a good game, we won ala Capello today; more on the mere technical differences of the players involved than on good football...we got help on that Almeria goal that was disallowed, but it testifies to how poor the Spanish Ref's are overall , nonetheless, we win

Couldn't see the match for all too obvious reasons nowadays but I heard the ref messed up big time. Hate to see that happen even if it benefts us. Was it one mess up? Hopefully so since a third goal sort of erases that. I am also not to surprised that we didn't play too well since most our players came back from International duty, they must have been a bit tired, some wwere rested, etc. Big match Tuesday. Can't wait. and thank God, it's a different feed

yeah that Almeria goal was pretty obviously a goal but the ref was poor overall. We didnt need his help and Almeria didnt deserve his prejudicial judgement either......bad referee....the send off was correct IMO Crusat took Saviola out as the last man, that is an automatic red regardless of the harshness of the foul...and the one with metzelder was not a penalty, look at the replays....anyway, the international games hurt us bad, that is something we will have to watch out for the whole year....the players that didnt go out looked fresh while the ones that did, looked tired and a little out of it...by the time we play Valladolid I think we should be back in form...I dont know about the CL match...might be a little tricky...Bremen is a good club

btw, barca is playing poorly against Osasuna, they are hurting for messi right now...giovanni is doing ok...but....Barca seem to be the same team from last year...good thing is that we are not the same team from last year, so i hope it stays that way

Well, I hope they keep slipping. It's along season but 4 points could be the difference. Sevilla keeps it up with a 4-1 w. IMO, they will be the biggest threats all year...not to underestimate barca though.

Uhm, good line up, but really I dont think Schuster will field Higuain instead of Robinho. That wouldnt be a smart move. I love Higuain, he is one of the greatest young prospects out there, but Robinho is alot further atm. I think he will put Higuain in the second half.

@big al: Diarra is suspended. Gago can handle this with ease. This is his natural position. (and its a single DM formation wich suits him well)
