Now it does not matter if they would have scored or not, Carvalho I dont know if he went down to waste time or was injured but the ref did stop play so everything does not matter. Dutch should have given the ball back to Portugal.

I think any ref in his position would have had trouble controlling such indisciplined teams. If anything both teams should be to blame for all the calls, not the ref. I was impressed to be honest although at times he lost control of the game he did his best. You guys must remeber refs don't get paid much and must work in other professions since refereeing doesn't dish out enough cash, plus they don't win any fans only ennemies and people who couldn't care less. The most acclaim they'll ever get is nothing. I'm going to say this now Portugal have very little chance getting passed England, even if Netherlands got through I'd say the same. Both teams would miss key players. Also too many other players are carrying yellows so if they get another yellow they're basically out of the semis or if they got carded in the semis = out of torunament. England on the other hand get more rest and they'll go in with a full team with only 1 or 2 guys with yellows. Plus C.Ronaldo is injured, I don't know how badly but the quarters are in a few days. This has been the worse game in the tournament only because of how undsiplined the teams were, both teams should be ashamed I think a record was made today in the world cup for most bookings in one game... 4 red cards, like 20 yellows . It doesn't matter who won, you can't expect to play like that at this point in the competetion. Costinha is a moron, I don't know what kind of player would ever handball the ball purposely (having already a yellow mind you) in the middle of the field where the ball isn't even remotley near the net. That's something you do to prevent a goal, not to prevent a meaningless pass.

A game like this you can actuallly get away in the group stages because the yellows disappear in the next round but to do this so early on in the knock round is suicide. In the knock phase it's not smart at all, you need to keep your cool and I just can't see Portugal winning their next game. I'm sorry but Big Phil say goodbye to your winning streak. Your taking on a basically similar England side (not exactly performing their best) but Portugal is without the guys that made the difference (rui costa and postiga) in the previous encounter in euro and without the home advantage.

I say, Holland didn't play fair play, but they were better, they did play fair play AFTER the action of Figo because the red card wasn't good, it wasn't an elbow. No doubt about that. He just shields the ball and makes himself wide, and Figo lies on the ground..

And of course, I forget Boulahrouz, but it was between a yellow and a red card.

And if we're all honoust, the referee was very very very poor.

Btw, didn't Holland had to have a penalty when Robben got kicked at his shoulder?

I was unhappy with both sides at their behavior today, it made for an entertaining game but the ref was only partially at fault. The ball should have been given back to Portugal so shame on the Netherlands. Portugal then decided they wanted to join in so shame on them. Then we all know what happened after that...

What a crazy game

hopefully portugal can do good against england. It will be very tough, but anything can happen in the world cup. Good game to Van Persie, he s a really good player. And on portugals side, Maniche!!! and Miguel: WORLD CLASS

Van Basten made the dumbest decision of the tournament by starting Kuyt instead of Van Nistelrooy and then never brought him on. The only good forward Holland has and he didn't play in the do or die game. Nice one Marco.



From what i hear it was a horrible game, poor Ronaldo, i hope he plays with England.

Now Portugal without Deco or Costinha and maybe even Ronaldo, i don't even know, England might take it.

On Miguel he is a classy RB but at times he seems to do things that I wont ever get. Not only for Portugal but for Valencia aswell, for instance he makes passes that go nowhere or crosses where there are no players on his side when he has a lot of time to do something else with the ball? Like I said he only does this some times but I think its weird how such a good player as he is does some weird crap like that. Still a nice game from him as expected.

Before this match I thought I didn't care who won because I thought Portugal had a very good team and I respected them a lot. But now I don't.
