Thought Joe Cole was excellent , loved Crouchy's Dennis Berkcamp impression. Lampard again not playing to his best but maybe thats the formation.

Expect a much better performance this Saturday , we still a long way from our best thats for sure.

Hargreaves is wank, he was late into challenges and didn't get tight on anyone, gave their man yards of space to find the back of the net. Carragher was decent at winning the ball, however i don't think his distribution is good enough as the pundits said. Carrick is the natural player for that position and he is overlooked time and time again.

I can't believe some arsehole on here is criticising J. Cole. Another excellent performance again on the left. Followed by Beckham. He is the biggest threat in the World from dead ball situations. His delivery is pin-point all the time and with J. Terry on the end of it we are guaranteed goals.

Yeah it all looked a little rusty Tracer. Still thats to be expected i guess. Its their first game for quite a long time. There were a few moments of promise though i thought. Carragher DID do well Rami, but then again he's class anyway I think.

Hungary played a very tight game. Every man behind the ball. They were also pretty aggressive in the tackle as well. Two or three men on whoever had the ball. Its frustrating trying to break that system down and still come out lookin good. I thought the guys rode the storm though and their class did show more in the 2nd half.

Michael didn't stand a chance tonight. 2 men in his back pocket the whole game. I thought Lamps and Gerrard didn't know at times which one of them was supposed to be breaking forward too. There was some nice quick pasing moves though and I thought they worked very well as a team rather than as individuals.

Don't think I would fault anyone tonight really .....apart from Hargreaves.

Glad Walcott got on as well. Thats his first cap and we cant expect too much from the kid. He's been thrown in at the deep end really and for all that he still does ok.

What amazes me is how Beckham can still make those perfect 75 yard balls, that go time the player's run perfectly and go directly to him. And people say he is overrated. You don't need to dribble 5 players to set-up a goal.

If a meteor was to strike, and there were to be one man standing after, that man's name would be Owen Hargreaves. :boohoo: Play him in his normal position, which is somewhere in the midfield. If the midfield is full (as it is with England), then don't play him (which brings you back to his selection...not something restricted to Hargreaves)! Find a right back who can play ....... RIGHT BACK!

Hargreaves has earned his reputation as a consistent and versatile player. In fact he's been very good for Bayern this season what he's played. However being able to fill in a position for a game or two in the Bundesliga is a lot different from playing in an unnatural position at the World Cup.

Beckham is half England. Joe Cole also performed very well. BTW Crouch celebration was hilarious

Couldn't comment, don't watch Bayern but on England performances he should be no where near the team.

Play him at DM or don't play him at all. It's as simple as that. He's still a good player. I like his passion, his tough tackles and long-distance shots from time to time.

I like the formation that was used last night. It definately has the most potential given the squad. Then, if things start to get rusty, bring on Crouch as a sub and go from there. Crouch is not a good starter, but a great person to bring on as a sub because it causes the defence to drastically change everything 60 or 70 minutes into the game, it's not like bringing just any other striker on.

BUT, if england doesn't sort out this DM problem, they are not going to win against the big teams. Its ok against hungary to have makeshift players in that position, but pede is right, the reason that the hungarian scored was because Hargreaves gave him far too much space. imagine playing argentina and giving riquelme that much space.....

put carrick in there and let him figure himself out. he is not overrated, he shows that consistently for totteham. just give him time to settle in the team. that position keeps getting shuffled, and when people like that clown Hargreaves get picked over him, how the hell do you expect carrick to play with confidence. let him play 90 min on saturday and stop tinkering with that position!
