About three weeks ago Panathinaikos Athens played a basketball game in Turkey against Efes Pilsen. The whole atmosphere was really electrified-it's always like this in matches between Greeks and Turks in EVERY sport.Panathinaikos won easily and the home crowd showed more than sportsmanship at the end, applauding the visitors.Nothing at all happened.Need I remind again the match Turkey-Latvia two years ago?Nothing happened again.
I am the last man on earth to apologise for Turkey,but...hey...aren't we exaggerating a bit? Did we suddenly landed on planet earth and that was the first football match we ever watched? Why don't we take a look to some really hot derbies in South America? Is it the first time we see fans overreact after a bad result and point fingers to opponents? It's outrageous when any athlete is treated this way,but sadly this not the first time those things happen and certainly not always on turkish soil. And yes,I agree that maybe it all started by a couple of idiots who inflamed the atmosphere, wether swiss players or turkish fans, but the point is that we should stick to the great footballing spectacle offered during the match. There are hooligans everywhere and furthermore,I repeat, mediterranean people are very warm and lose their heads much easier.Don't be so critical to a whole natiom, wether it's called Turkey or whatever.

Everyone here is bitching about racism against turks, but where else does this level of violence and dirtyness happen with such frequency? There are isolated incidents in England, hooliganism in Italy, racism still in Spain, but where is there this regularity of on/off the pitch violence anywhere else in the world? Whose national side it this consistently associated with violence, poor sportsmanship, and all the rest?? OF COURSE its just a few fans that spoil the whole thing. Likewise, when you complain about how turkey is treated overseas, its a few fans in that case, but the only difference being theyre laden and armed with memories such as this game to fuel their hatred.

Its no wonder you think the whole world is against you. When violence suddenly occurs in a Turkish stadium against a national side that has no history of this type of behavior, what the hell is the rest of the world to assume???

This thread has given me a few chuckles, but overwhelmingly, I am left just depressed after reading it. But hey, at least Pi-Air got banned. Notorious, you racist scumbag, you should go join him

Frost....This is not about the behaviour of fans. This is primarily about the behaviour of players and coaching staff.Whoever started the trouble last night,we will find out in due time. The crazy thing here is this, why does the Turkish national team always end up fighting with the opposition.Whenever they leave the field after losing, there is always trouble in the tunnel.Surely you cannot blame every other team for the trouble and pretend that the Turkish players and staff are innocent. We have seen time and time again, thugs like Alpay provoking people into fights in the tunnel. We have seen footage of of a Turkish coach spitting at an English player in the tunnel. There is something mentally wrong with these people. These players should be setting a good example to the fans, especially the young people who follow the Turkish team. Its no surprise that Turkey have so many hot heads that follow them. They are bad bad losers pure and simple, and it seems like the only way they can make themselves feel better is to assault the opposing team after the game.

And lets get one thing straight here ...When England played Turkey in England,David Beckham scored a goal and ran to the touchline to celebrate.20 fans got onto the pitch and HUGGED Beckham and the other players, until they were removed back to the stands. At no time were they a threat to anybody. They were happy and thats it.There was no violent intent at all.No punishment you say?.....The English FA were fined a record fine in International football by UEFA.So get your facts straight man.
All the other examples that you mentioned were isolated incidents that did not include the same team twice. The Turkish team on the other hand have been consistant over the years for their dreadful attitude and disrespect to others.
Blatter says he is going to punish those responsible very harshly.I will be very surprised if he does this, as similar incidents involving the Turkish team have led to very small fines in the past. Now the whole world is sick of watching this crap everytime Turkey lose so maybe Blatter will surprise us and hand out a much deserved ban.The players and the fans should be made to realise that this sort of neanderthal behavior has no place in football. The torrent of missiles that rained upon the Swiss players last night was disgraceful and there is no excuse for thuggery like that.Whatever happens to the Turkish team over this,is down to the Turkish hooligans in the stadium last night. So you can blame yourselves.

And Switzerland need a punishment too it has to be said.

All those other cases you mentioned. They all resulted in punishment one way or another. All of them, but i too have never heard of the hand grenade incident.
I know that you feel that the whole world is anti-Turkey man,but thats just your paranoia and the fact that you are living in denial of the facts.Wherever Turkey ,or any Turkish team play, there is trouble.Either from the fans or the players .Or both.
England used to be blamed and punished all the time in the past,as everyone knows, whether our fans were to blame or not.Now it is Turkey's turn to face the music. And not before time either.

Say what you want but there's always seems to be an element of violence following Turkey around. I don't like to generalise but violence seems to be a part of Turkish mentality.

He got what was coming to him, you do not kick an opposing coach and expect to get a way with it. That player who ever he is has no respect :nape:

It wasn't even him who kicked the coach dumbf*ck.

Emre_5 said:
By saying this you catogorize all Turks as hooligans which makes you no better than the groups of hooligans themselves. Do not be as close minded as those Turkish Hooligans by accusing all TUrkish of being hooligans

The Germans won't tolerate hooligans, and objects to be thrown.

Emre_5 said:
I'll being man enough to accept the fact that Turkiyes fans aren't the greatest but we do not go out of our way to start trouble all the time. We push buttons on purpose because we have EXTREMLY short tempers and they flare up quickly anyway what happened never should have occured but they did and it is quite unfortunate

Thanks for pointing that out, Captain Obvious. Did you figure all that out all by yourself or did yer ma help you. :fool:

If anyone's blind to see, the assistant sh*tte try to get one of the Swiss players.

Thanks Gimenez for pointing that out.

And Damien Duff, please don't visit Turkey just like you said that you wouldn't.I'm still gonna live in peace with my hundreds of British neighbours in Didyma, TURKEY.

That's absolutely great. I live in peace with all my hispanic friends right here in VA.
