indeed official news says "mutual agreement" but it is pretty obvious that he's been sacked.. Chairman of Turkish Football Federation Levent Bicakci and Governmental bodies responsible for sports were previously criticising him..

so, what goes around comes around..

Things are a little shaky at the moment. Indeed, Yanal has not been as successful as he SHOULD be. I just hope this abrupt sacking of Yanal will not affect the team in a negative way. How quickly will they get used to the new coach? Does the new coach have sufficient knowledge about the players? Inshallah whoever he is, he takes us to the promise land.

who in the right mind would interpret this as good news?

He made our team so youthful, ya maybe at the wrong time but it's on its way to working, changing coaches is a lot harder than simply looking for a new one.

the players have to adapt, new tactics, and probably a new selection of players.

decisions made wrong at first, leads to other wrong decisions.. ersun yanal should never had been in charge of Turkish NT, not at this level..

hope implementation of new tactics and players would not be that hard

implementation of new tactics and players will be hard. I think supporters of ersuns departure are being hypcritical. They were so upset that changes in players and tactics were being introduced at the wrong time (world cup qualifying) now they're happy with the same solution. World cup qualifying isn't a time for experimenting.

This is a huge set back, IF this news is true which I dont' feel it is, then turkey's chances of making the world cup are slim to none.

My sentiments exactly.

What a stupid move by the Turkish FA.

Ersun Yanal may have had a bad start. But COME ON. This is the stupidest time to change a manager. Anyone who understands the tactical sense of the game can CLEARLY see that Turkey has morphed into an Attacking Posessional team. This transformation fits our team best, because Turkish Defense is still relatively weak, albeit with good defenders like Tolga and Ibrahim Toraman. But when you have people like, Nihat, Emre, Fatih Tekke, Tuncay, Hamit Altintop, Gokdeniz Karadeniz, all of which (except emre) play forwards and attacking mids, he opted for the best choice. TURKIYE NEEDED A HAUL OF THE OLD WORLD CUP TEAM. DO NOT DENY THIS. WE WERE FINISHED WITH THE TEAM AFTER LATVIA. Although i STRONGLY disagree with Yanal dropping Sukur, the rest of the team, is probably the best we have, and I loved it. The style was exciting, we attack a lot, set up nice plays. But he made a mistake in the greece game, he used a style were crossing was the main tactic for getting goals. But everyone makes mistakes, at least this mistake didnt cost us the game. We tied it. We're in SECOND now, there is no reason why we shouldn't be continuing with him. This is by far the dumbest move i've seen by the Turkish FA. Dumbest move. This whole decision could NOT have been because of Hakan, because. Guys, lets face it. We have to start relying on the younger players. Ersun Yanal introduced a totally new way Turkish National football was being played. He brought up players, whom some of us, and don't lie to yourselves, were brought up and surprised us all. I never thought Hamit would adapt to the Senior level so quickly, but Ersun did. And it works. Hamit is one of the best Turkish wingers out there now. Where was Fatih Tekke before Yanal was here? I never saw him, in Fact, Gunes brought up Okan Yilmaz for the confederations cup instead of him if you remember. Huseyin Cimsir, I knew about him, but never saw him before Yanal came, and Cimsir is a great stopper. I remember Cimsir since 99 when he was on Trabzonspor. But that's all i remember of him. i dont remember him being called up for euro 2000 or euro2004 or world cup? Yanal brought him. Halil Altintop, Ibrahim Toraman (Another very young call up), Tolga Seyhan, Tuncay started to get more playing time under Yanal. Yanal had good set pieces, i loved how he instructed the players to put in the ball hard and low, because it's smart. We didnt have any tall guys, so take the chance and see deflections off the crowded box. I dont know why everyone is celebrating. We probably have the hardest group in all of UEFA. We have Greece (*sigh* i hate to say it, but Euro Champs), Denmark (Good team, was at euro and caused problems for everyone) we have Ukraine, who has shown they have a great team by being so high in the group. so we have 3 difficult teams, and the top 2 go in. Give me a break. 2nd place is fine with me. You all cannot realistically expect us to be in first place. You cannot. Put your pride away for a second, and really look at the group. 2nd place i was expecting, 1rst would've been a gift, but i wasn't going to be surprised if we were third at this time round. and remember, we got into the World Cup and euro 2000 i believe through Playoff. So why not World cup 2006????? who cares how we get there, let's just get there. Cause qualifying means SH!T once your in the tournament. At the moment, Ersun was taking us there, and we're really blowing the team by getting rid of him. If Terim takes over, in the long run maybe i see success, but you cannot expect a young team like this to adapt a new style and still play well and win the last 3-4 games, because i know we have to basically win the rest.

god...the team was playing just superb lately. I can't believe we are celebrating this.

He couldn't beat our rivals Greece in Istanbul..He could't beat Ukraine in Turkey..He couldn't beat Denmark who have played 60 minutes with 10-man.
If beating Kazakhstan 6-0 is a big success then i can't say anything to you :nape:

When can i say Kazakhstan was a big success. Hello? :ewan: Don't say things i never mentioned.

Turkey has only lost 1 game in their whole group. They only lost to the team who hasn't lost 1 game in the group yet. Ukraine has 15 goals for and 3 goals against only. And since when is it Ersuns fault that Nihat can't hit a penalty in the Denmark game? You cannot blame Ersun in the Denmark game, his tactic was dominant, he can't make make our players finish their chances. I think you are placing way too much blame on the manager. The manager picks the tactic and the lineup. In the 90 minutes that are played, it's up to the players whom he selected to win the game for the team. The denmark game was the players fault, not his. We tied Greece, man cry a river. So what? Greece has lost two games, to Ukraine, who I will mention once again hasn't lost one game yet. Albeit, by a shotty counter attack. And By Albania, i can't say much about that.

You're completely ignoring the fact that Ersun has brought a new team to our system. The only players left from the world cup and euro2004 qualifying are Rustu, Yildiray, Emre, and Nihat. I questioned Ersun when he brought this new young team before the qualifying started. So did everyone else. Realistically, a new team like this, cannot adapt so quickly. God knows our old team took a long time to adapt with most of the same players being chosen before. This new transition took like 6 months! That's remarkable if you ask me. And, the fact that our position right now is taking us to the World Cup, and the fact that we only lost 1 game, and that we have the most GF in the group. I think he did a damn good job, and the teams posessional football is extremely good right now.

Playing superbly doesn't necessarily mean that they have to win. Greece i think had like 2 chances max in their game against us. I'm talking about how well Turkiye moves the ball now. This is a good step to playing extremely well with good results. Counter attacking football is temporary success, Greece got lucky in Euro, and now they are getting punished. They didnt do **** in the confed. cup, and they have problems with Albania, and our group in General. The tie against greece, ended up hurting Greece more than hurting us according to the standings.

so, there is a fact.. I watched every single group match and I am not satisfied with the level of football played and I think Turkish NT is more capable than its current performance.. I also don't think neither of us are satisfied so, goodbye ersun yanal :ewan:

Guys stop defending Ersun Yanal. He was never meant to be the NT coach. Now he is "out of the game". ;)
Let's see and discuss who the next NT coach could be. :ewan:

OK before this breaks out into another one of those Turks vs. Turks threads, allow me to get things under control.

I think we'll all agree that although Turkey should have won some of those matches, Yanal DID set the stage for a newer, fresher Turkey squad for the next coach to continue building upon. Yes he may have made some incorrect moves and decisions, but I think he was right when he said in a press conference (I am like 95% sure about this), "Kolaysa siz gelip yapin". There is some truth to that.

Anyway, he is gone so forget about him and let's all worry about the future. :jambo:

EDIT: IF Terim is the new coach, I hope he still has it in him.
