This is 2004...Juventus and Italy were sh*t in 2004, even if Zambrotta played well this choice has obvious influences from the respective team performances.

Don´t worry it´s a popularity vote not a specialized panel. I would prolly make a couple of changes but i think it´s a reasonable team if we judge the players by the performances in Uefa run competitions.

no he doesnt. He had a great year, but Figo was the one and only player probably, still playing like he should the last half season in Madrid, had a fantastic Euro, and is having a great season so far. Compare statistics, and you'll see.

This year I got a package where I can see Italian games too.

Buffon is a brilliant keeper, but I have no doubts Casillas is better.

Iker makes atleast 5 brilliant, game-saving saves a game, not to mention Buffon has one of the world's best defenses playing ahead of him.

Ronaldo was better than Figo at the Euro, and he's more popular atm, that's why he was picked.

I think that's actually a disadvantage for Buffon. Real don't play any defense at all and so the opponent team will get more shots on goal and Casillas has more chances to prove himself.

Buffon does not have to do that. :p


Of course Casillas if a quality gk but he concedes still too many goals to be named the world's best imo.

Casillas is very far from worlds best goalkeeper. I agree his is a good shot stopper, but its easy to find a good shot stopper. Casillas has no command of his area and defence and is also one of the worst keepers on dealing with crosses
