Fitness Training

Well my footy season ended last month for some ghey reason, and now have 6 months before the new season starts. I took 3 weeks off training as their was no point, but came back as it was something to do. For some reason my fitness has completly gone in those 3 weeks :| I was never a fit player to be honest (skills/technique are my good side, stamina/pace is not;)) but now I'm getting knackerd after one lap of a pitch :nape: So i've got 6 months of trainin an a few 6-a-side tournaments before the new season, is there anyway I can slowly get my fitness back up? I'm not some fitness freek who drinks slimfast and does 500 sit ups each night, i just want to improve my Cardiovascular endurance and stamina a bit. Any tips?

The only way to improve Stamina & Fitness is more running. Go for jogs, but make sure they are long, somewhere along the region of 30 minutes non-stop. This should improve your fitness no end.

I'm trying to improve my Cardiovascular capacity as well. I joined a gym and do three nights a week starting with a 7.5 K bike ride (20mins on the excercise bike) and then training circuit (nothing very heavy and only 3 sets of 10-15 reps on each machine, make sure its enough to feel the resistance) get your gym manager to help sort a programme. Also some 5-a side or Futsal is ideal and great fun as well as keeping your skills sharp.

IMO the beep test is the best thing you can do to improve your fitness.

Arrghhh! I remember the bleep test, that's a killer! :-puke:

Bleep Test was great.

I did it a school, it was hilarious to see all the fat kids fall over, puffing out of their ass on level 3. I eventually got onto level 15 (H)

Thest best thing to do I hear is go for a long jog, and every once in a while sprint for like 100 yards or so then jog again. This is what my school team does for fitness.

Yeah thats called Continuous/Circuit trainin ennit? Well anyway seeing as the Sun has come out once again i've been playin football for around 2 and a half hours a day, should that be ok? As i've been so knackerd lately.

If I were you, I'd go for an hour jog each morning (bring some water) and then mess around with the ball for like 45 mins. This should improve your leg strength and your conditioning.

If you want to improve fitness don't just run. Mis things up. Hill running is great, because not only does it improve stamina but also builds up your leg muscles at a ridiculus rate; then try some shuttle running but you need 10-15 people for this.

Basically run around the pitch in line and when a whistle is blown the person at the back has to sprint to the front, it's a bitch but works wonders. Because it acclimatises your body to sprinting when knackered.

3days of intervals, 2 days of light (20-30 min) jogs per week

But mix it up as ^^ says

long jogs at a certain distance that pushes you for now and then once u r able to do a that distance start going further and keep doing that and u should get better,

i used to have real problems with fitness and so on, i'm quite fast but it was always long distance runs that killed me.
just try to go to training on a regular basis. that helps loads as well

Do 20 1 minute sprints at full pace, 30 seconds between each minute every day.
