So, who has one of these things??

I was thinking of picking one up for Christmas and just wanted to ask those who have one or have tried it if they're actually fun? Was also wondering if you can download Wii game demos like u can with PS3/Xbox360..

thanks

I've been going to my 11 year old cousins house 3 times this week just to play Super Mario Galaxy.

Best game i've played in YEARS. :gavin:

I can't wait until he gets Zelda and Smash Bros :jacko::jacko:

These days I pretty much only play Winning Eleven as far as games go, so anything else I'd be playing with my niece and nephew. Stuff like tennis looks like a lot of fun in multiplayer, at least it does on the commercials...

I noticed at IGN that there's a Wii version of winning eleven/pes coming out early next year, looks like a pretty innovative control system!

Wii Winning Eleven

I've wondered how people who are used to normal controls find the new remote.

I've tried Wii myself on two occasions, and I had a lot of fun both times. (Y) It doesn't have the fancy graphics of XBox and PS3, but the games seem so much easier to pick up and play, even for someone like me who's never had the patience for all the multiple-analog-joystick crap like PS3 and XBox. And it's even more fun (and still playable) if you've had a joint or two like I have on both occasions. (H)

Furthermore, it requires for you to get of your fat ass and the way in which controls for most games seem to work, it will also not mean the same amount of long-term damage to your thumbs and index-fingers. Also, it's not nearly as expensive as the two competing consoles, so even if you end up regretting you ever bought it, you won't feel as ripped of by it, as you might have from XBox or PS3.

I played it once, and it's fun and all, but the controls were ****ed. It was a FPS and whenever you moved too wide of the sensor, the character would just start spinning in circles and you never know where the neutral spot is to make him stand still. don't know if that happens for other games or if it just takes getting used to the positioning with respect to the sensor, though.

It's good if you're going to have or host a lot of people at your place. That was pretty much the extent of its worth to me (chipped in with a roommate this summer to get it). Plenty of nights where we got everyone in on endless rounds of bowling. Drinking, conversation and bowling--without having to pay to rent shoes. It was fun.

Zelda was mildly entertaining.

I played Mario Galaxy at a friend's place last week. I had to get used to the new control for a moment, but I have it does rock in the end.

As far as I'm aware of, no you can't.

You can go to the Wii Store and download the internet browser and Everybody Votes channel for free, but I don't think there are any demos available... Though you can buy old games like Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Y)

Wii Bowling will NEVER get old with mates. Get a few drinks into you and get into it, and before you know it controllers go flying around the room into paintings on your walls :p

**** video games. They are a waste of my time. My roommate plays XBOX 360 Live all the ****en day. I've already played enough when I was a child. Time to ****en move on.

There will be no growing up.

Toys R Us loyal.

the tennis game is amazing; but the bowling game is the sh*t in terms of gameplay, if everyone had a friend with a Wii and that game, bowling alleys across the world will f*cking close, there's no need for the real thing anymore, it's just that perfect...and i'm not even that much into bowling :D

Yeah from what I've been reading lately it seems like they're gonna start focusing on even more sports games in 2008. With more true simulations with a lot more depth rather than just the family friendly type. There's aWii version of Top Spin tennis in the works that's supposed to be pretty amazing, an official Beijing Olympics game, some new boxing games and others too..

Anyhow, looks like I'm gonna have to wait a while to get my Wii anyways, they're totally sold out everywhere around here.

my mate bought a wii the other day and brought it round, me, my bro and him played that bowling game for 5 hours straight, though naturally we took a break to grab some KFC (damn right), i tell you all...it's the most addictive game ever!! you can take it seriously and go for strikes all the time or you can just try out crazy curl, none the less it's a realistic game i believe, totally amazing.

oh and u gotta laugh when the characters next to you score a strike and start jumpin up n' down as they bounce off screen hahahaa.

Yeah. I've bowled a perfect game. Haha, that would never happen in real bowling. (H)

Wii bowling was totally our pre-game before we went to the bars this summer. Have some people over, drink some beers, rotate around. So fun. Then we'd come home and play more just really blow.
