Why are "flares" only enabled by a cheat?

Jon,

One of the first screenshots I saw of UEFA Challenge several months ago showed flares in the crowd, and i thought "wow! this is so cool! It adds realism to the game"

Many people who wil buy this game, probably would not think to search for cheats on the internet, and they will miss out on a really cool effect that will add realism to the game. Why are flares only enabled by cheats?

Flares had to be taken out for licensing reasons. UEFA do not condone the use of flares at football matches.

I too like the flares, they really do add to the European atmosphere.

is it possible to make a cheats menu so we just had to type in the cheats and then click enable? Just like fifa 2000. Maybe a console.

there is a hidden console in the engine....

For example, hit scroll lock followed by 'FPS' for frames per second.

The original console had a text readout...we could reenable it in a patch...

We will be enabling the console for the patch, this will enable ya to active some ingame cheats and all sorts of other stuff.

First of all love the game Ste and Jon.

This mite be more relevant to Jon cause I own the PSone game. I just wanted to know if there are any cheats for that.
