WC Refs

wtf i thought the refs have been doing an excellent job... except for 1 or 2 decisions like the PK but overall it has been good officiating ...the offside decisions have been spot on
I thought Kewell's goal was offside. But who cares, we had 2 clear penalties refused.

Welcome to the World Cup Australia!

Welcome... to the WC tournament that is a joke. Bad ref's, different ball that flys and dirty teams that get away with it or try (won't say who cause some will take offence)

England has suffered for 40 plus years from this crap!

Welcome to the world cup!

Yes, I think there will be strong calls for video replays after this. Loads of terrible decisions. The red cards against the U.S., the PK against Onyewu, PK and red card against Ukraine in the Spain match, Kewell's offside goal, and all the stupid fouls for shirt-tugging, and the blind eye that's been turned against diving - awful.

But yes, between the awful calls on the U.S. red cards (by a ref previously suspended for a dodgy record), the PK today (possibly the worst call so far in the tournament) and the hardest draw in the tournament, evidence is certainly starting to mount that the fix was in.

There was also a clear penalty on Niko Kovac in the 2nd half.

didnt quite see the whole Croatia-Australia game because i was watching Brasil-Japan...but i switched to croatia-australia in the 80th or so minute & i saw graham poll giving Simunic 1 yellow card...but the comentator sead that simunic had another yellow card in the 61th minute & simunic had to see the RED.witch didnt happen until the 93rd minute, when he saw the 3RD YELLOW CARD IN ONE MACH.

Dont know if this is true, because, as i said, i didnt see the whole game & i dont know if he really got the first yellow card(the first of the 3)....anyhough, whe have incredibly stupid referres or incredible stupid tv comentators

has anybody else noticed this 3 card thing?
It's true, but on the official match report the second yellow has magically diappeared.

Refs

Why are these refs so ridiculous with their cards? I understand that FIFA gave them instructions but come on, about half the games have been ruined by stupid ref decisions and pointless cards thrown out left and right. If the same officiating occurs in the latter rounds we'll have two teams in the final playing with their subs.

Some of the fouls have been absurd, yeah, but I am extremely thankful that they have cracked down on simulation, especially in the penalty area

I think the problem is that theyre going too by the book. Every rough foul from behind seems to be a card. While thats fine and all, sending a player off for something like that just isnt done with nearly as much consistency at the club level

We will never be happy until they start with video reviewing fouls and chances :kader: :kader:

The problem is I've seen a lot more yellows given for harmless fouls and not for diving (maybe 2 or 3?).

I don't think replay needs to be considered, just have two or three refs out there instead of one.

Nope, videos should be only used for line decisions. For example the France/Korea game where the ball blatently went over the line.

What we need is refs using a bit of common sense without Fifa pulling all the strings. The game is fast turning into a non-contact sport and cheating players are thriving from it with their play acting.

ill tell you why he was suspended (lived in uruguay while it all happened), since some of you keep bringing it up, uruguayan soccer is divided in 2, half is a fan of PENAROL and the other half of NACIONAL, larrionda asked to travel with a senior team of PENAROL that were going to play some friendly games in spain i think, he was going to ref some games for them, NACIONAL thought that it was wrong that he would travel with its rival team and accused him of being a fan of penarol and that a ref should never travel with a team and bla bla bla a big deal out of nothing (always happens in uruguay) and the auf (uruguayan soccer federation) suspended him for 6 months basicly to calm down the moods and that was it.
yes people there were no fixed games or whatever you thought it was so move on and accept that you are probably the only ones saying mastroeni should of gotten a yellow while the rest of the world agrees with the ref.

stop crying, and stop using information given by that prick lalas.

how the hell do you give 3 yellows to a player? this is the best the English Premiership has?

Nobody in England likes Graham Poll yet he is feted by FIFA. Well, not anymore it would seem.
