The Azzurri Thread

Yes, I was sooo mad.

How did you guess my mood behind my computer screen?

Because humans can express themselves through words and words can be communicated through text.

I can see how someone with such a disposition to misinterpret could think Marchisio didn't deserve to be sent off.

Lol. Keep guessing my emotions from behind the computer. What am I feeling now?

To post a different reply. Mod can put it back if they like.

You didn't even see the incident and saw a gif from the worst possible angle without any context

Are his studs not up in the other angles?

They're also up when you do stepovers and other manouevers, should we give people red cards if they make contact with another player in that situation?

You're trying to argue with a retard and his pals, Mus.

Step-overs and 50-50 challenges are the same? But btw, yes, if your studs are up and you make contact with the opponent (at that speed/force) you should get a red card.

U MAD BRO?

EDIT: I've actually seen the footage again and I can't believe you're arguing about this. 50-50 challenge for possession, dude puts his studs up, contacts the player and makes use of additional force once contact is made. If that weren't Italy you would say the same.

I'm trolling Rocky because he got his panties in a bunch and started insulting anyone who contradicted him. If you think I'm trolling you when I'm arguing valid points you're just being deliberately blind to the facts.

Not my words but definitely match my sentiments:

If a Milan player made this foul against Juve and he got a red card, my initial reaction would be: "sh*t, now we'll never hear the end of it from the Italian fans and media". If an opponent did this foul against Juve and got a yellow, I will forget about the episode immediately and never complain that it was a red card offense.

They can probably find a rule in the books that supports the ref's action, but this was a weak red card. A very weak one.

A red's a red. If you find a rule that states that studs up aren't necessarily a red by all means share it but Marchisio was just stupid for doing that. It was certainly no weaker than half the pens that have been called in this World Cup.

There's not actually a rule that says studs up is a red at all, the most relevant aspect of the rule is if you interpret the serious foul play offence (a red) as FIFA wishes and say that Marchisio is endagering the opponent via excessive force or brutality (where your studs up comment comes into play) but is it really brutality if you are trying to control the ball and mistime it? A yellow would have perfectly suffice, most of the Uruguayan players didn't even appeal for a freekick let alone expect a red card

Perhaps not brutality but force perhaps. I think the red card is more due to the dangerous play and the fact that he intentionally used excess force and contact. That's dangerous and unsportsmanlike so that's a red for me.
