The Arsenal [2008|2009]

7 of these 11 players were in the Arsenal team that lost 3-2 to Chelsea reserves 2 weeks ago. Sure, it was a good result against a very poor championship team, but don't come in yer pants too soon over it huh.(Y)

I saw the highlights on ChelseaTV, and there's bits of the reserve's match against u Arsenal on Chelsea's youtube channel.

It was a different kind of game tho to be fair, but most of the Carling Cup Arsenal players were involved in that match.

not most, it was not the same team...also Chelsea had Drogba, and he did make a difference...the draw would have been the fair result, mind, I'm not saying Arsenal were better...but saying that it was the same team is not entirely true..

Players don't play with the same vigor for the reserves, they may play hard but they aren't going to go out there and risk as much as they would in a competitive contest.

hey why do ur reserve youngsters play better than the senior team
i mean 6-0 is awesomeeeeeeeeee
but u have to mention..arse-anal still suck...cause they cant win a trophy
they wil get relgated this season just see!

Well Fili, seeing as it was played just down the road from me at Barnet's Underhill ground, it was an opportunity not to be missed. I went with my dad who you might remember is a gooner. He sure is a miserable bastard when Arsenal lose. Especially when they lose to us (Y)

Drogba played a short while in that game, because he was still recovering from injury and was not that much of an influence overall, although he did have one assist. He hadn't had any pre season training, and this was his first game since our last game of last season. Also he was the only first team player to feature for Chelsea in that game. The rest were our young guns.

And it was a competitive, fiery and a highly charged game, so to say that the Arsenal players did not give their all is nonsense.

They had just won 11 games on the trot including pre season games. Do you really think that they wouldn't try to make that 12 wins on the trot, and don't you think they would have loved to beat us on the night? Of course they would.

It's no good looking for excuses why they lost to us. They lost because we were better on the night. It's that simple.

You are right, don't get me wrong...I mean probably a draw would be more fair, but if anyone should've won it that was the Chelsea reserves.. I'm just saying that comparing both games isn't fair (Y)

Well sure, but very rarely are any two games "the same" anyhow.

Don't get me wrong though. The Arsenal demolition of the Blades was impressive, they played some nice stuff indeed. But to be fair any top clubs young players would have thrashed United that night, although thats not taking away any credit for the fine job done by the Arsenal players.

Fu<k, it's so painful for me to write things like that, but I'm mellowing more and more as each day passes.....and it feels good to shake off the lunatic in me at last(Y)

Oh absolutely, I get so angry watching 16 year olds play like that... My kid's going to Ajax's youth camps at 4 years old man, I'm telling you :D

Firstof all, Sheffield were criminally heartless and shameful. With that being said, I think that Vela is ready for consistent first team play. Rosicky's injury looks to be more serious than the club is leading on, so I would love to see him become his replacement. He's just so incredibly perceptive and advanced as a finisher, so he would be really excellent as a support striker, me thnks.

Randall and Ramsey are not that far behind in their development aswell. I was really surprised by how well they played. Either one of 'em has the potential to be a Lampard-esque midfielder....especially Ramsey. Wilshere is a goddamn prodigy, man. The way he glides past defenders and also dribbles through them so effortlessly in confined space is really something special to watch. I hope that he has a huge growth spurt in the next couple of years, man, because he's very tiny and delicate atm to handle the rigors of a full EPL schedule.

oh, yeah. Gibbs and Hoyte the Younger were also both excellent....I can definitely see Gibbs being converted into a LW.

I'm drooling over the prospect of seeing Wilshire and Walcott on the wings for us in like seven years. And they're both English so we might actually keep them for seven years.

BTW we play Hull in like three hours and I was reading the injury news on arsenal.com and as Yoss said Wenger's expecting a Rosicky return around 2009. If I remember correctly Rosicky got injured before Eduardo and now he's scheduled to come back after Eduardo. I believe Wenger when he says it's not serious and it's just taking a long time to recover, but if you compare both injuries when you first saw them it's baffling to think Rosicky will be out longer.
Can anyone even remember how Tomas got injured?

******* HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE LOST TO HULL AT HOME! ****!

But what can I say, Hull deserved to win. And Geovanni's goal must be goal of the season so far...

****

It's strange because I don't think we played badly and I don't think Hull deserved to win, but since we did lose my post is going to be critical and negative. First of all, we should have made it 2-0. That's a problem we seem to always have, we just don't have the same intensity when we're winning. Another thing that worries me is that we weren't able to equalize with 25 minutes left, it's unlike us. I would say what can you do Hull defended well, but we might have just seen the real impact of losing Hleb. He was always the guy that could put his foot on the ball and create chances for us when we were losing. Yes we created chances, but with 25 minutes you can't really have any excuses.
Lastly, Hull's two goal pointed out perfectly imo our two biggest weaknesses on the field. I don't mean to take anything away from Geovanni, but I think that goal summed up why the Denilson Fabregas partnership doesn't work. They're both too attacking minded to be a great partnership, and it wasn't just that goal, there was too much space in that area of the field all day. And the second weakness is obvious, corners. But imo the root cause of our poor defense on corners is that the Gallas Toure partnership also doesn't work that well. They're both good defenders and we could get by with them playing together, I just think they're lacking when they defend a big, decent forward.

I don't mean to sound like one of those annoying negative Arsenal fans and I'm not at all about to hit the panic button, but like I said this post was so negative because in the end we did lose.

what a shocking defeat... Hull are playing like reading of two years ago, if not better. They may just cause problems to every team.
