SG's Ultimate Draft Challenge

If I put Park on the pitch I will probably have Eto'o on the other side and leave Robinho off. If I just wanted to pin a fullback back, I'd use Robinho, but Park is one of the only players in the world who will tackle and harass a fullback all over the field, which is why he's so valuable. Maicon, Cole, and maybe Alves (although I might want to just use Robinho on him and hope he gets caught out on a counter) are perhaps the only fullbacks that are so excellent I would need a special player to mark them. It's kind of funny to go through Park's matches last season and see all the wins; almost all the losses happened when Park was substituted in the 65th-ish minute. He neutralized Lahm at the Allianz for example, got taken off, and then we had the late goals to win.
interesting ... his importance is clearly underrated based on that ... but I think about how Sølskjær was ridiculous coming off the bench for a short cameo, but only rarely impressed when he got the full 90 ... is Park's situation analogous? too far into the realm of conjecture to justify analysis, I suppose ... but it needs to be considered ...

If you put Pastore on the wing, I consider that a victory for me.
hah, why? btw, I'd never consider Pastore or Cassano "on the wing" ... all the attacking players will have free roles, drifting and dropping from certain starting positions ...

Ramires and Mariga aren't holding midfielders, but you don't really need one in a 4-2-3-1 if you have two disciplined central mids. Schweinsteiger and Khedira couldn't be mistaken for holding midfielders, but they were arguably the best two in that formation at the World Cup. Both of their ability to get forward adds some uncertainty to my attack as well, which can only help. And hell, if they start to get overwhelmed I can always drop Cesc a little further back; afterall the kid came up in a flat 4-4-2.
Schweini is definitely, by his own words, a man to break up play -- i.e. he cherishes operating as a ballwinner ... that he used to play up front with a good shot shouldn't distract you from what he has become now ... I think every team needs at least one pure ballwinner in there ...

and yeah, Khedira and Piggy worked well together at the World Cup ... but I think I mentioned this before: Germany only dominated possession against Australia, and Ghana to a degree ... against Argentina and especially England, they played on the break ... it was effective against those two defensively incompetent teams, but were not impressive performances as far as I am concerned ...

All hail the next champions :

Robbery!!! Didn't realize you got both.

Too bad for Dzeko though... neither of the wingers like to pass or cross.

Yeah.. but they love to score. Robben has 16 goals in 24 games for Bayern so I'm not worried (H)

Robben is awesome. Ribery has been moping around like van Gaal killed his dog ever since Robben was bought.

I trust he'll go back to his old self. The dude has mad quality. I still remember his first season in Munich, seeing him killing Werder that year made me fell in love with him.

Robben was on fire this year, but Franck still managed like an assist or two every other game, and he played fewer than Arjen.

Is there something obvious I'm missing here? I'm trying to make my formation on this11.com but even if I name all my eleven players, it doesn't let me past to the drawing stage.

Just take the name of the player to the field, like when you put some porn in recycle bin

Right, so. I went for the more emotional choice for my last field-players pick. I had (I don't care about name dropping now, since I'm done) Pandev, Giggs, and others in mind, but Anderson is just gold (Y)

Well guys, here is my current formation I am looking at

Substitutes :

David De Gea ( GK )
Stefen Defour ( AM/ CM / DM )
Ruud Van Nistelrooy ( ST/ CF )
Fernando Torres ( ST )
Alvaro Pereira ( DL / LWB / ML )
Rafael Da Silva ( DL / DR / LWB / RWB )

--------------------------------------------------------

Ok now heres how my team mentality goes :

Id want Vidic and Badstubber to stay put ...and Senna helping them out with all the dirty work
Arteta and Fletcher can drift a little bit ahead and centrally play the ball to send either of nani or ROnaldinho on the wings to cross/ cut in / run.

Once my wingers get the ball, They have quality enough to go on themselves, or assist well to feed in rooney for him to score.

The same can work with Arteta who would be my creative spark in midfield.

Id expect fletcher, Senna and Vidic to do al lthe hard tackling.

Glen Johnson and Jansen are good crossers and shooters too..my defensive wingbacks will provide good runs alongwith their frontmen nani and ronaldinho..

------------------------
I have massive ammunition in van nistelrooy and torres on the bench
For a few games Defour can step in and the incase of emergency I can send on Rafael who has immense pace to burst forward from the wings...

Oh hell yeah, not to forget my goalkeepers..
one, a world cup finalist and coveted target for many..the other an immense talent in the eyes of many huge managers.

All that..and i have one more player left to choose....
Hmmmmmm

hah, Quintana was going to be my next pick ... oh well, I guess I'll leave my 2nd keeper to my last pick ...

Man I thought I had 2 picks left after Lavezzi, I have no backup fullbacks now :( Anyone willing to trade a fullback, talk to me. Willing to give up Ballack or Kiessling.

I just realized my bench consists of 4 Leverkusen players... Guess I'm secretly a fan of them. Must be the Milan-resembling jerseys.

Milito
Bastos---Diego---Valencia
Diarra---Alonso
Marcelo---King---Puyol---Boateng

Lavezzi---Milito
Diego
Ballack---Alonso---Diarra

I have too many formational options. Bleh.
