Luis Fabiano is average to me

He had a pretty good Confederations Cup for Brazil...

At this point I would pretty much take any striker...hell, I think we should get two. You can never have too many strikers or too many defenders.

hmm the reports of Michael owen seem to be really good
Infact...snce we missed out on all the possible great targets...I guess this could be a fantastic deal in disguise.
this man is a proven goalscorer.. a natural threat.
His injuries cost him over the past 3 seasons...
A fit owen can always score
Form is temporary class is permanent.
I surely feel he will be a great and massive addition....

After Owen, I just wish we would go for Lennon..which would make it two english players in the team :)

Was making some sigs and thought I'll share the United ones here,so if any of you want them feel free to take 'em.
I'm nowhere near Nady or Anthony :( and these are some of my first ones.

Would be a masterstroke from SAF bij getting Owen. He's just 29, had a terrible season but still managed to score 10 goals in all competitions. This would also mean that Welbeck and Macheda would get the chance to develope further. Getting a young striker would slim there chances. If the deal goes through that would show that the Benzema reports were not true. Real was the only club putting in a bid for him...

Its so weird how we were talking about owen the other day then bam...

I'm quite enjoying the prospect, lets face it hes a Ballon d'Or winner. As mentioned he got 10 goals playing for newcastle which takes a miricle in itself. If he can score 10 there he can defo score more here with the players he will have supporting him.

Not to mention the fact if he score's more then 4 he's already better then what tevez did for us last season. Cant imagine he will be bothered getting rotated either. Our new super Sub. If he does 60% of what ole, teddy, Larson did for us we will be laughing.

The prospect of him socring the winner vs liverpool also gives me a warm fuzzy feeling :D

HAHAHAHA, Michael Owen?!!? Even Hull were skeptical of signing him!!

Maybe the brochure caught Sir Alex's eye?

Michael Owen was England's biggest joke 2 weeks ago, and now Man U are going to make the blunder of pissing away a mountain of cash on this bum (at minimum 50k/week) and all of a sudden it's a BRILLIANT MOVE! Bull****, Owen sucks now and he's supposed to replace Tevez? And you guys don't understand how absurd it all is? I guess love really is blind.

what do you mean, blow a load of cash? He's free with 50% cut on wages. If he gets 10 goals again and probably better with united supporting players he will be a decent sub. He will also be doing significantly better then what tevez did for us... what was it 4 goals? And he wont be moaning about not getting games. Infact it will probably do him better coming on as a sub etc with his injury problems.

Not to mention the fact we may still buy someone else. We haven't exactly spent much so far.

They are good, but try to hold Shift when you transform them. ;)

OnTopic: What's wrong with Sir Alex? Michael Owen??

m owen deserves a chance, some time ago he was one of the fastest players. man u could resurect his carrer.

Breaking: Michael owen having medical at man u on what is being called a performance based contract.

Lol its actually happening.

wow absolutely didnt see that coming. But buying owen will be like buying a louis saha. Hes so injury prone and hes not the answer to our shortage of strikers. Plus didnt united say that they werent be going for players over the age of 27? Its good for owen personally but for the club?. i am very skeptical at this point in time. I still believe we need a quality striker.

That's why his contract is performance based. If he doesn't play, he won't get paid as much as he did at Newcastle.

I read it as we wouldn't invest tonnes of money on anyone over 27. All Owen is costing is wages.

I'm open minded about Owen, IF he can stay injury free we know he has the class to compete at the highest level. He could potentially prove to be a great stopgap for Wellbeck and Macheda.

I don't think he's good enough. He's fast but has no end product. He can't get the ball to his team mates.
Such a cliche to say it, but it's true: we all said the same about Ronaldo when he joined United. He had no end product.

Oh man, this is priceless. You guys aren't really serious when comparing Tevez with Owen, right ? Even if the argentine scored only 4 goals, he saved your asses soo many times.

too late.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Michael is a world class forward with a proven goalscoring record at the highest level and that has never been in question. Coming to Manchester United with the expectations that we have is something that Michael will relish.

Pretty much agree with that.

michael owen is an amazing player just had bad luck with injuries and cant get in top form again i feel playing with united will get him back to his amazing form of past.

Michael Owen has never been bad, I was shocked when he signed for Newcastle as even though he is highly injury prone, he's still one of the best English attackers ever, Rooney-Owen :icon_spin: YeaH! IMO when ever Owen is fit he'll be ahead of Berbatov. :icon_spyed: I love this player, and i'm glad he has the chance to play at a top club again!

Some of the Manchester fans are pretty funny (not just talking about this board) after Ronaldo gets sold he is wank, Benzema was good until he signed for Madrid and now he is crap but Michael Owen is wonderful. Anyway, I have to say it's a rather strange singing but my bet is that you guys will still end up getting Hunter because lets face it Owen is not world class and you guys will need someone else to come in for goals, espeically since Berbatov is not that great either.
