yeah maybe... but his goal scoring record aint exactly been great of recent... perhaps he didnt have the right players around him, could he be used as a super sub? It would be risky... but then at that bargin basement price could be worth a punt. But there again, there saying we dont buy old players now.

rofl apparently bettin places have slahed odds for owen to join united from 20/1 to 7/4 rofl

could it actually happen? frankly Owen is a cheap gamble is no real dent on money and is a good choice there isn't much options yet

I would definitely like to have Lennon in the team. He is probably the only player in the Premiership now that could match Ronaldo's speed.

Umm Theo? Thanks for playing you Failed...

I think he meant as in realistic targets for United. No need to be so spiteful.

What are the odds on Michael Owen ending up at Old Trafford? The longer Fergie goes without being able to snap up a striker of real quality (Benzema gone and Villa looks very unlikely) might he not be tempted to take a punt on Owen?

Vida's agent has said the recent comments attributed to Nemanja are entirely false and he (Nemanja) is "Upset and angry" over claims he is unsettled in Manchester and has considered leaving.

I am hearing rumours that we are in for Michael Owen, I have considered Owen (and Vennegor as someone said) and I think it'd be a short term fix until Macheda and Welbeck mature. If we could get Owen to something like his best, then I'd be happy to see him here. Also Owen wouldn't be the type of player that would throw his toys out of the pram is he's rotated - he would know he's fortunate to be given this chance, either us or Hull!

Also typical Arsenal fan rating Walcott as fast as slave - On the original subject about Aaron Lennon, I'd love to see him here - I think United could take him to the next level. Trouble is Spurs would screw us on the fee. Lennon is a better player than Walcott in anycase - but that's another story.

I'm watching the MUTV phone in at the moment, one observation: I wish they'd stop showing the preseason preview with slave on it!

That's a good point. A player like Owen could be a good backup considering the fact that other than Berba and Rooney we only have Macheda and Welbeck and both of them are too inexperienced. Just imagine if Rooney or Berbatov or both gets injured at some point. Will be hard to compete with the likes of Chelsea or Barca with Macheda and Welbeck in front.

I know Owen is way past it and injury prone, but could still do a job for us. He's available for free as well so its not a big gamble or something. He didn't have a great season last season but still scored 11 goals despite injuries.

Btw Owen was an Everton fan in his childhood. Always thought he was a Liverpool supporter :S

EDIT: Just read Possebon is out on loan at Braga. Hope he'll get some experience there. Braga are in the Europa cup as well.

You're right, Walcott is fast...but the Arses probably wouldn't part with him. Lennon, on the other hand, is probably obtainable (and faster than Theo too).

No problem, I had company playing...Arsenal has been playing that game for what, the past four seasons now?

Some reports including BBC say that we are on the verge of signing Owen. He only needs to pass a medical. He would be nothing more than a decent backup player if he came to us.

He'd be more of a scoring threat than Berbs so I guess he's better than nothing.

But we should still be looking for another striker.

Well no-one thought Henrik Larsson would be on Fergie's list and he became practically a United legend in the short time he was there.

It'd be interesting if Owen played for us at Anfield, wouldn't it! I have to admit, I'd prefer us to get a young, up and coming striker like Huntelaar - but then would we be in the Tevez sitiuation of someone throwing a wobbly if they miss a few games. It's a tricky balance.

I've just read somewhere that Rodrigo Possibon has gone out on loan to Braga, so he'll get Europa Cup experience which will be useful for him.

It would be great to see Owen play for a big club again, he's a great player, was and still is, injuries are his only problem. IMO United are the perfect place for him, other than Pool, but you guys will stick it to them if you do get him. He still the best English attacker after Rooney only IMO. It would be a great attack.

Some sources like goal.com also say that we are in for Luis Fabiano for 18 million euros. Looks like just a rumour though.

wht do you guys think about lennon?
he has a massive pace
is good enough to be with united on the wings
he is young
why dont we go for him?

I don't think he's good enough. He's fast but has no end product. He can't get the ball to his team mates. Plus, we've already signed a right winger.
