I think that is a pretty good move actually, if De Gea leaves that is.

Why? I don't think he is starting lineup quality. He was loaned to Monaco in 2013-14 and was second to Subacic. When he returned to Sampdoria, he was second to Emiliano Viviano. Other than starting for Argentina, he has hardly played in the last 2 years in inferior leagues.

Marcos Rojo who has been made fun of by filipowder also starts for Argentina.

Possibly, though I doubt their best is Man Utd good. Who knows tbh. I thought Ramsey was never gonna make it and he was on fire the season before last.

But I guess, LVG expects Mata to play through balls to Pedro and Depay making runs in behind/between and beyond Rooney. Maybe, also that Mata has the accuracy to keep possession at one side when required allowing for penetration-through runs/direct passes- from one of the deep midfielders as well. Probably, that's the reason he wants to play Blind at CB for his accuracy and vision to pick passes from the left side. Schneiderlin as the sitting midfielder+Rojo as the lb makes all of the above very balanced.

He didn't sacrifice a forward at Bayern. It worked because Muller and Olic were the AMC and ST respectively, and they did a lot of hard work. They were forwards who could press DMs and CBs. Robben didn't track back on defense until Heynckes.
