it was 9 against 11 for a long time. Pazzini sent off as well, it's 9 against 10 now.

If Inter wins, that's a big big momentum boosing.

he booked Samu for diving and trying to con the ref into giving a penalty ... don't know if there was enough contact on him to give a penalty there, but it certainly wasn't simulation ... needless to say, the ref was quite poor yesterday ...

Gigi Del Neri's team have had a decent run of form, but they lacked any creative edge (I wonder why? could there some magician who has been dropped for "technical reasons"?) ... even with 9 men, Inter never looked under any serious threat ... in fact, if Super Mario Balotelli was an option off the bench, I think a goal for Inter in the second half would not have been out of the question ...

anyway, I'm sure focus is completely on the midweek fixture ... it will be very interesting to see how José sets up his side for the big match ...

Pandev was in sensational form in January, but has faded a little in recent weeks ... Eto'o looks completely out of form ... Balotelli has been scoring when given the chance, but he will get absolutely clattered against Chelsea, so I don't see him getting a start ... Milito is the topscorer, and his physical presence will be handy against a typically physical Premiership side ... Sneijder will start, I'm pretty sure of that ... so it could either be Sneijder and Pandev playing behind Milito ... or Sneijder behind Milito and Eto'o ...

as for the left-back position, Santon has been defensively unimpressive, and so is not an automatic choice for the role ... Córdoba was also tried out in that role in a recent match, but his lack of pace will get exposed, and he may have to commit a card-meriting tackle that would jeopardise Inter's chances in the tie ... so, with Cristi Chivu out recovering from that head injury for the immediate future, it leaves Mourinho to either go with the youth of Santon (who has not looked as composed at the back as he did last season), or the evergreen Pupi Zanetti (who would be my choice for the role) ...

playing Zanetti at LB will mean that Deki Stanković would get the start on the right side of midfield, with Muntari probably getting the nod ahead of Thiago Motta ... there may be a surprise start for Mariga ahead of either Muntari or Motta, but I think it is a little too much of risk for José to take ...

lots to figure out for Mourinho ... I honestly can't wait for Wednesday ...

I don't agree with Samu's attitude eighter, but think if you were in his place and you just suffered a foul in the penalty area at 0-0 and that idiot called reff is blind, what would you do?

Yep, he's right there, that is not a penalty, the booking for diving was fair. Though that might've been the only proper call the ref ever did in that game, he was horrible.

Actually, he got most every decision right. Inter fans are just pissed that a referee actually stood up their bullying antics and had them exposed for the crybabies that they have always been.

Cordoba's two yellows were justified.
Samuel's straight red(already on a yellow card, the idiot) was justified because nobody can stay on the field when they use their elbow in that manner.
Eto'o was rightfully booked for diving, no one should get away with that, and the nerve of him to actually appeal for a penalty should have gotten him another yellow.
Pazzini's second yellow was a bit harsh seeing as he made the tackle in Inter's own area, but I don't think anyone will really complain about that.
Milito should have been sent off for his studs up, hammer tackle on Palombo's knee, so in theory Inter could have rightfully had three players sent off.

Inter should stop bitching and just be thankful they even walked away with a draw and nine men instead of eight on the field.

apparently Júlio César was injured in a car accident ... still no word if he is confirmed out for the Chelsea match on Wednesday, or not ... or if the injury will keep him out for longer ... that is a big loss for Inter if he is out, especially for the Champions League ... Toldo is not a bad back-up, but he has shown that he is getting on a bit when he played in the Coppa ...

That would be bloody disaster, without him we barely stand a chance. He is the sole reason Inter didn't let in a goal against Milan in the last derby and with him gone alongside with two defenders and with Drogba's fine form, there's no way in hell we can win.

it was an excellent start to the match ... clinical finish from milito, from a chance created by a sweet move from samu ...

but from that point on, chelsea's physicality has been too much for inter to handle ... very ugly to see, but what can you do, that's what they like at the moment ... chelsea are either going for the cross, or going for the long shot; no real passing play along the ground ... so the 4-3-1-2 formation is being stretched a little too much, and is not that conducive if you are being bullied off the ball ...

but they have held on, and mourinho can regroup his troops for the challenge ahead ... thiago motta looks too shaky, and will likely get a second yellow for a clumsy challenge; better take him off before he gets sent off ... the problem is who to bring on; muntari is not starting because he has been guilty of giving the ball away too much; and that can be ill-afforded in a match of this magnitude ... mariga, the other option, would be making his champions league debut if he came on; i just don't think he has seen enough minutes in the league to be brought on for such an important role in this match ...

eto'o is showing that he is completely out of form; he fluffed the type of opportunity that he would usually bury into the roof of the net ... but his pace has been useful in keeping the chelsea defence busy ... pandev and super mario are two excellent attacking options to have ... pandev is untested in this team at this level, while balotelli, one feels, will be shoved off the ball far too easily ... but both have pace -- one more than the other -- so bringing one on for eto'o might not be the worst thing in the world ...

a long 45 minutes to go ... inter need retain the ball better, though that is easier said than done ... in any case, the attacking players need to be taking their chances when they come their way ... a better shot instead of a fluff from eto'o, and a less-heavy touch from maicon bursting into the box, and the scoreline would be dramatically different ... composure will be paramount ...
