I have a low end computer, but PES3 surprisingly runs. Its slow obviously, but its playable.

600mhz pentium3
nvidia riva tnt 2 (latest drivers)
directx 9

I followed all of Fede's steps, is there anything else i can do?
Well, I'm sorry but having a TNT 2 it'll be very difficult to make it run with a normal speed :(

See ya!

sorry my bad english

settings are mate:

Resolution: 1280x1024
Smartgart: AGPx8, Fastwrites on
OpenGL: 4xAA, 4xAF, Texture pref: high, Mipmap: high, VSync: On, Trueform: App preference
Same for Direct3D

As mentioned below get the drivers from: http://www.omegacorner.com/

They are basically another version of the catalyst drivers, and ive always found them to be better.

Hope that helps :)

WINDOW MODE! That's the CURE! Go to Screen Settings in PES3 and simply switch to Window Mode! That helps in my case!

I got this slow motion experience too. At first, it looks okay. the graphics also looks good though, but then after 3-4 seconds, it became slow motion. I found out that the slow motion effect comes out when there are more players on the screen (usually near the penalty area). FeDe, I already did everything that you suggests but the problem still persists. (V-Sync Off, basic acceleration for sound in dxdiag). Btw, how to run the game in Windowed Mode? When i set that option on, it appears that the game run in Full screen as well. I'm really disappointed because Konami set the benchmark too high for pc requirements. It's a shame because I can play Fifa 2004 Demo on 1024x768x32 without any problem (Btw Fifa's graphics looks great too!) Personally, I love this PES game, I even play Winning Eleven 2000 using Emulator on my PC and it's basically the same game with PES 3. I will buy FIFA 2004 because it has lots of features but I also wants PES3 because of the gameplay. But if it is like this, sadly it's pointless as I couldn't hardly enjoy it playing in slow motion.

My PC Spec(yeah, i know.. it's old) :

Pentium III 1GHz (on windows xp professional)
384 SDRAM (PC133)
Asus GeForce 2 GTS 32 MB (latest 45.23 detonator driver)
Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1 SE

Thanks.

The external options ie. filename labelled 'setting' apparently does not work.

The only way is to do it manually - get into the game, then go into options and toggle the resolutions and windowed/full screen.

It definitely seems as though Konami have used Directx8 gfx functions when porting the game, hence the min reqs being Geforce3 or Radeon8500.
Geforce2's(& Geforce4mx's) are only capable of direct6 & 7.

Sorry, but what a load of bullplop. It might slow the game down a bit not to have a graphics card that supports directX 8 or 9 in hardware(mines a GF 4 MX440 with 128MB) but it will emulate these advanced functions through the proccessor.

How come Max Payne works on my computer? That uses Pixel and Vertex Shaders(DX8) but still works fine. Or how about GTA3. Again, its fine on my PC(up to 1280x1024 my monitor's max resolution). Splinter Cell? Fine as well(it can get a bit creaky with FSAA and Ansotropic filtering on at 1024x768 mind you).

Plus, people are getting these slowdown problems when they do have better graphics cards. So that really debunks your theory Perth Glory.

To make it worse, this isn't even an official Demo. The release date of the full game is a month away, so I would reserve judgement until then. I won't be trying this unofficial demo purely because it won't reflect the true quality of the game.

EDIT: My Spec is:

Athlon XP 2600+
512MB Ram
GF4 MX 440 128MB

So except for the graphics card its not too shabby

I don't know my sepcs but i have GeForce 2, Pentium 4 and about 1.5 GHz. I've installed the drivers and done everything fede has said. And its still running in slow motion, wot can i do?

damn i've got a flickering screen now and my pitch is like a watrer-melon and still slow-motion!!! How did i unistall the new driver?!

Yes mx cards emulates dx8 functions = slowdown.

Geforce4mx cards are souped up geforce2mx's - ie (relatively)old Directcx7 tech. You won't see any pixel shaders, bump mapping etc with any mx cards as games specifically developed for PC will detect they aren't supported and render a less complex scene. So yes new games will work on mx cards but the output will be of a lower qualty than a Geforce3 or Radeon8500.

These specific optimisations haven't been done for PES3(well there is high, medium and low detail-don't really know the difference though as high runs perfect on my PC) so Direct7 cards are being told to perform the same functions as Direct8 class and seeing as the game is locked at 60fps something has to give. Why else would the minmum specs be geforce 3 and radeon 8500  ?

Other slowdowns seem to be caused by a mix of AA, AF, V-sync and refresh rates issues(all of which should be sorted by the game, not the gamer).

Nvidia drivers can be removed through add/remove programs :)

First of all let me tell you my system specs so you know if you can use my fix too:
Pentium III
Windows XP
992 MHz
512 MB of RAM
Ge Force 2 MX 400 64 MB (yeah GeForce 2!)

Well, let me tell you that I didn't find this way to fix it I've just read other posts-

First Step:
Go to Start>Run>dxdiag then select the 'SOUND' tab and set the sound acceleration to 'Basic Acceleration'.

Second Step:
Go to http://download.guru3d.com/rivatuner/ and download taht proggie.

Third Step:
Run it and in 'Driver Settings' click on 'Customize...' and select the icon with an 'X' (the DirectX one), after that select the VSync tab and select 'Always Off'.

Now run PES 3, and what I've done is set the resolution to 640x480 and the details level to LOW, and it run gr8!
Just to try, I've set the details to MEDIUM and it kept on going well, a bit (just a little bit) slower but still gr8!
Now I'm gonna try setting it to HIGH and see what happens, if it still runs fine I'll try changing the resolutions.

Remember to:
-Download DirectX 9, from www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/ downloads/default.asp
-Download the latest drivers for your graphics card.

That's it!
Let me know how it did for you ;)

MAN all that **** just to play the demo on its lowest settings..what a lot of crap. This is a bad, bad, bad, bad demo..poorly done by konami

Nope, for me brilliant demo. Four teams, 2 stadiums, unlimited restarts, full formation/strategy menus, any difficulty level & its PES3 running silky smooth at 1024x768.

Really what should people expect if their PCs don't meet the minimum specs?

Nah wee man, my specs are a 2.3ghz p4 and a gforce fx card, and all the other usual high quility stuff, so its nothing to do with that.

Yes the demo has a lot of content in it but whats the point of having th content if you cant use it?.
Lots and lots of people have problems with this demo, the fps is horrid, just horrid man, and then you have to play the game on the lowest setting just to get it to work.
If the demo was high quility then konami had a chance to show what there game is like just as fifa got released..but they never, they fluffed this demo and you can try and convince yourself otherwise it still wont be the case

If the final version of PES3 runs this slow when people have machines with 2.2Gig, then Konami are screwed on the PC market, peeps are going to send it back! No one wants to play slow-mo football...

PS2 version is brilliant, but the demo I got is just p!ss poor. The controller I have isn't good for it at all and it seems to be a direct PS2 port, which means some serious PC requirements. :(

Nick.

? Most of the complaints have been from Geforcemx owners

I'm trying to convince myself that the demo is ok for not running on lower end Pc's while I have clearly stated that I think the opposite? My point was the game has worked perfect since install, I only had problems when I managed to deliberately break it to see what people's problems might be.

No, use fraps, the fps is locked at 60fps, that's plenty smooth :)

If this demo is the final code, then no it's not the best port in the world but if you're having problems running the demo on your PC, and genuinely want to give it a go, using a tool such as rivatuner to have a play with your refresh rates and V-Sync should sort it out(also make sure AA and AF is off). If you've never had to do this with a PC game before you're one of the lucky ones.

All you have to do to fix this problem is set the quality to LOW, the quality change from high to low isn't noticable so dont be afraid.... then you have a fully working demo.

Nick.
Processors speeds are not the be all and end all, haven't been since gfx cards were introduced...the PS2's processor only runs at 300mhz.

Max Payne 2 uses its old engine which dates from 2001. It runs on practically everything ;-).
