Hello all, I am new on this board.
Since I bought a new laptop running on XP I have been searching the net to find a way to run my favorite game (cm3 98/99) on my new laptop.
A few days ago I have downloaded a patch (cm3.04e patch) and that is working:D
The only problem is that the patch also changed some things in my game. There are new players, other players are not there anymore, the ratings of my players have changed and a few other changes.
My question is if there is a way to run my game on XP without having all these other changes. I just want to run my old simple game on my new laptop.:p

Any suggestions are welcome!

98/99, wow. That's hardcore for ya :D

Well, if the patch includes a data update, you can't do much about it. Unless you can find either a version of the patch without the data update, or a pre-game editor and change all the data you want reset, back to original.

Here's one editor: Tri Wasano's CM3 Data Editor
That should allow you to make the necessary changes.

But....................how am I supposed to do this? How can I change the ratings of my players? Example: Gabriel Milito had an average rating after 40 games of 8.40. Now after the patch his average dropped to 7.20. I know this is more realistic but thats not what I want:crazyboy:

You want to change player effectiveness? Well, that can only be done by editing his stat valuations...

I've never seen an editor that can change all the algorythms to your liking, sorry. :crazyboy:

no im afraid Ruud is right my friend, oh and congratulations on being a CM legend :p

if its bothering you a lot i recomend actually starting the game again, reinstall CM so it gets rid of the stats and only download official SI ones, use the Tri Wasano editor (still the best editor ever made) and edit it yourself, i know all this sounds crap but you really cant change stuff such as the average rating 'in-game'.

:( Sorry, but at least be happy that you are a true CM Old Skooler, lol

TROD.

Thanks for your support guys!
Is it a good idea to split my hardrive in two and install a older version of windows so I can just simply install the original version of Cm 3?
Because messing around with patches and editors might be too complicated for me. (I am not a computer wizzzzzz)
But.................anyway thanks for your replies! You really understand my cm3 madness!

I actually split my harddrive in two parts myself, to be able to continue playing CM3 01/02, which suddenly stopped working on XP. It does work now, under Win98SE, but as I have 24/7 programs running, I still hardly ever play it.

If you don't have this problem, and actually turn off your pc every day, it would be a good option. Just don't make the CM3 partition too big. Just enough for the OS, drivers, and CM3 ;)

The reason I bought a laptop was to play CM3 while I am away at sea. I never knew that it did not work on XP.
I have downloaded partition magic but I did not dare to split my harddrive yet because I hounestly have no idea what I am doing. (Iam not a computer wizzzzzzzzz)

same here mate, personally i tend to search for hours on the internet to learn about what im doing (e.g. i had no idea what a LAN was, 3hrs later i was NEARLY ready to set one up) so id recomend looking on the net for a while.

Isnt there anyway (sorry to say this) that you can get a later version of CM? or are you MADLY in love with CM3?

TROD.

CM3 is my game! I also have other versions of the game but they are not as fun as Cm3 98/99. I played cm4 03/04 for a while but after 10 seasons I only played the championsleague. It just stopped playing the national league:f***:
So I just returned playing cm3 again.

dont blame you, still cant understand how you prefer 98/99 over 01/02 though..

Argh Damnit. My ICC cricket game didn't work on XP, but I actually have a split on my harddrive that I could have installed 2000 on! BUT I BROKE THE ICC DISC! F_U_C_K!

What is windows XP? What is the meaning of life? Why am I who I am? It are those questions that'll never be answered
