Bah, I hate them. At home, I'm invincible, away I play like some relegation battler.

I play a 4-1-3-2 formation, both home and away. At home i play a slow, wide, short game, away I switch between that and quick, wide, direct.

Any tips on improving my away performances?

You play very offensive with your midfielders. Try a more defencive tactic with them.

Yup. Nor-rbk said it.

Check out the defensive set-pieces as well. Having the strikers in the back if they are good at heading...and one or two fast players in the front for quick attack after set pieces...and on away games, counter-attack and play by wings is almost a must.

interesting... i do the exact opposite of that.

Depends. Maybe you want to control the game away.
At home, it's me in charge. In away games, I try to control it in league games, but CL games is direct, wide, counter-play, no chance in that =P

PSVForever in away game try a 4-4-2 slow wide and short tactic. it brings results though you will lose a game every now and then.

I play five in a midfield in an away game that I'm not confident of. But against relegation fodder, I play 2 up front.

nah man the best way to combat these hard away games are to match the opposition with their tactics, also you must play with a slow tempo because if you play with a high tempo you will win like 3 out of 6 games. just look out for the pre-match scout reports.

I brought down my midfield a little for the 2nd half of the season, and my results away from home drastically improved (Y)

I dont agree on slow tempo and a short passing style on away games, this is only possible when you have a good team that can dominate most other teams. For me, in most away games, it's just a case of getting the ball upfront as soon as possible.

Oh, I went on to win the league (Y) And I won the German cup, beating 1860 Munchen in the final (surprisingly, 3 of the 4 semifinalists were from the 2. Bundesliga and the other team relegated from the 1. Bundesliga)

I still switched between short/slow and quick/direct, depending on the opponents qualities and weaknesses

i started playing wif tottenham and everytime i play away i use the 4-3-2-1 quick direct counter-attack tactic, get 3-1 results all the time. thanks for the heads up.
