But we Brazilians play more games per year than the Europeans and in the old format, the Europeans were in the middle of the season, the Brazilians at the end of it, we never saw this as a disadvantage or made excuses, so...club world cup? what is it? I think this sentence can summarize my whole thought. However, I read the posts on social media. Many say, I had foreseen this for months, that the European teams are tired, cooked, boiled and are at 60-70-80 seasonal games. Differently, the South American teams are in the thick of the season, which started in January. They have 30 games in their legs. This weighs. Many players are playing without any more strength and desire. Also consider that the new season starts in August. They will have a scant week of vacation before starting the preparation for the next season. I predict an increase in knee ligament ruptures for the next season. Tired and worn out players with fast preparations only cause damage. We have already seen this season just ended the impact after the European Championship. They play too much, they don't have time to recover, they train badly and they hurt themselves more. We need to play less. It's useless to earn 130 million for this tournament that then risks compromising the next season if the team suffers serious injuries. Look at Manchester City. After Rodri's injury the team went down. They lost millions of euros because of that single injury. I think that some European teams are also trying to get kicked out of the tournament quickly so as not to compromise the next season.
But in fact they are stupid and useless tournaments. Actually harmful. Now I speak as an Italian... But I think the situation of other European nations is similar. Next season starts in August, Milan has a round of the Italian Cup on August 17th. The Italian championship starts on August 26th. If one of Juventus or Inter reaches the final (difficult) they will not give holidays to their members who have been playing since August 2024. They are cooked, they have been playing for a year! Many teams will start training in a few days. Cagliari will start training on July 13th which is the day of the World Cup final! What condition will the Inter and Juventus players be in next season? We couldn't even move the championship because next summer there is the FIFA World Cup XD. There are players who risk playing for two years without a break. These tournaments will never be played on equal terms. They have always been useless. But we Brazilians play more games per year than the Europeans and in the old format, the Europeans were in the middle of the season, the Brazilians at the end of it, we never saw this as a disadvantage or made excuses, so...

I understand your point, but it's the same here, because the Brasileirão ends, the Club World Cup begins, right after that, the state cups (useless) come and the teams have to decide whether to put the youth academy players in the state cups or in the Copinha (tournament between younger players), in the middle ground, the continental tournaments begin, for me the solution would be for FIFA to determine a single calendar worldwide for the leagues and talk to the federations about excluding some competitions, for example the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. I see no reason for them to co-exist, just like the Euro and Nation League and state cups here. But in fact they are stupid and useless tournaments. Actually harmful. Now I speak as an Italian... Besides, the fields here are very poorly maintained, the climate here is much hotter than the American one (which I didn't understand Vini Jr complaining about) and we still have to deal with high altitudes (Chile, Peru and Bolivia), racial discrimination and other things that I won't talk about here, because it's not appropriate. The season in Brazil has always been hardcore. Once every 4 years won't kill anyone. This is a lesson for European football, which always underestimates and sees South American football as a simple source of commodities: we deal with "extreme" situations all the time and still manage to play good football. Our clubs are also rich, our teams have huge fan bases and yes, we are among the best teams in the world
For me, this tournament only exists because there is a clear conflict between UEFA and FIFA, otherwise no one would imagine such a thing, but scheduling a friendly match against a European on a neutral basis is only if you have the money of the Arabs or Chinese, which we here do not have, which is why this competition, despite harming us as well as you (us here even more because after this competition the knockout stage begins) becomes so important.I add a small note, not relevant to the previous discussion.
There is a difference in the impact of a team in a tournament like the Club World Cup and the Nations World Cup. Both for the participants and for those who watch on TV.
The Nations World Cup for each team has the best of its players who play in about ten different teams that have had different seasons. There are those who have played in the cups and those who have not.. The tiredness or any injuries are divided between several teams generating a minimal impact on the same teams. If I have only 1 tired or injured player I temporarily replace him with his reserve that I have in the team or that I buy if he has suffered a serious injury.
The Club World Cup being for clubs you only have players from one club. No division between other clubs. This means that my players are all tired and at risk of injury and if I have injured players I have to replace them with tired players.... in this way you are seriously compromising your season.
The World Cup for Nations is followed by the whole nation, there is no division between the fans
The World Cup for Clubs is played by clubs that you may not be interested in or that are hanging on your scrotum. I support Cagliari, why am I interested in Inter and Juventus? Why should I watch their games?
It seems obvious to me that the tournament cannot have the same media appeal as a World Cup for Nations. and this is what FIFA would like instead...
That's not the point... it's that a tournament like that is useless and harmful. If there weren't all that money there would have been numerous forfeits. FIFA itself, to protect itself, has put in the contract that the teams must field the best team. The reason is because after a grueling season the European teams would have only played the reserves, those who have played little. I don't care who is the strongest. South America, Europe. These are issues that don't interest me much. The point is that there is too much playing. The teams start training in mid-July and these are still finishing the previous season. That's not good. The season in Brazil has always been hardcore. Once every 4 years won't kill anyone. it's a cup made only for money. The calendars are too saturated. it's unthinkable to have a tournament like this. For me, this tournament only exists because there is a clear conflict between UEFA and FIFA, otherwise no one would imagine such a thing, but scheduling a friendly match against a European on a neutral basis is only if you have the money of the Arabs or Chinese, which we here do not have, which is why this competition, despite harming us as well as you (us here even more because after this competition the knockout stage begins) becomes so important.
Funnily enough this is a complaint I found occuring even in the 1990sit's a cup made only for money. The calendars are too saturated. it's unthinkable to have a tournament like this.
Luckily they removed the confederation! There is too much play. There is no time to recover. This makes the game poor and the players at high risk of serious injuries. How many players have broken a knee this year? So many! These are injuries caused by an approximate recovery from matches, soft training but with matches of intensity as you say. The body can't handle it. This season, which came after the European Championships, was a massacre. Next season risks being the same. We risk having a world cup (nations) with tired players or major absentees due to injury. The players risk playing three summers in a row instead of doing adequate athletic training. 2024 European Championships, 2025 Club World Cup, 2026 World Cup. Maybe there will be nothing in the summer of 2027 but they could invent something... 2028 European Championships. 2029 Club World Cup. 2030 World Cup. Basically, the players of the teams involved in these tournaments will do serious preparation without physical stress perhaps only in 2027 and perhaps in 2031. It's exhausting...Funnily enough this is a complaint I found occuring even in the 1990s
Germans were declining invites to Confederations Cup because of that
Only because they wanted to be selected as a host of 2006 World Cup, DFB enforced the appearance in 1999.
What they came up with was the selection of max 3 players per club.
And they fucked up that tournament.
Also 38 y.o. Lothar Matthaus was there

I don't think it's about the number of games per se, but the intensity of them, which changed drastically.
wait until you hear that FIFA is thinking of bringing it back for the only year without international football (2027/2031)...Luckily they removed the confederation! There is too much play. I don't think it will happen.wait until you hear that FIFA is thinking of bringing it back for the only year without international football (2027/2031)...
don´t make me remember. A school teacher scored against us. The tyranny of Juan Roman Riquelme needs to stopI don't think it will happen.
Confederations Cup was a fun tournament, which created some of the fun moments of football like the USA in the final in 2009, Mexico winning it in 1999 or Tahiti making their international debut in 2013 almost on par with Auckland City on current CWC (though Auckland managed to draw 1-1 with Boca Juniors).
However compared to clubs, which contrary to my expectations didn't boycott, strike or protest this tournament in any intrinsic way (even quite the opposite and even European sides), Confederations Cup's history is also filled with rejected invites and neglect.
It was supposed to be biannual and was made a final playtest for a proper WC only in 2005. Germans were refusing to play, but also Italians and Spaniards, in 2003 the World Cup representative was Turkey, because it was first in line which wanted to play.
By 2017, formula just run out; Germany won it by essentially sending a reserve team and it's mostly remembered in Chile as it's their last international tournament and in New Zealand as their only tournament between 2010 and 2026.
Tl;dr that ain't gonna happen
In the end, i think that it depends on how "la finalissima" (in a way, a reminder of what the "artemio franchi" used to be), is successful or not, which already looks like it´s going to present problems considering that Spain and Argentina haven´t played yet.I don't think it will happen.
